Good work Stoner, so I guess €149 rrp will be £100ish at retail level, it’s getting more interesting!

Sorry Zilog618 you are right, scanning emails and trying to work at the same time!
I have doubts whether 4L would be enough, but with 5L water bottle in the boot for a top up it could be interesting.
Given that most products leak somewhere and are expensive, I guess it comes down to the price.
I’m off to the show next week, so will try and find out more!

Thanks for your help, certainly some more research to be done!

Both are great rides but I will say Penmachno is awesome.
I love fast xc riding, with my wheels leaving the ground at the highest when going in and out the car!
Penmachno starts with a mega climb, starts off slow in the trees but once in flow, is ‘probably’ some of the best xc singletrack you can ride.
Of course, this is just my opinion and I love my Cotic Soda (gives you an idea of my riding!)

I also have a road bike, so won’t be long road trips on the cross bike, it was simply to make the mudguard issue easier with using road tyres.
I will look at the Zefal as I would still like the ability to ride off road.

    Thanks

Cool, will have a look at those.
I have also looked at changing to road tyres and using the crud road racer mk11, but means changing tyres often, spin out with road tyres?, less flexible if a trail looks inviting!

Always good to have a challenge and if it keeps you motivated and out on the bike, then all the better.

I will be targeting something similar this year, with the intent of then racing again next year.

Not a Specialized saddle by any chance?

As above, I use thick grease in mine but the noise does come back……

Given that I can ride most of local trails on my cross bike, mtb wheelsize doesn’t really matter; the joys of East Anglia!!

I also own a Cotic Soda and will stick with 26 until they stop making good tyres for the 26 size or the frame is damaged!

I have a got a Stevens Prestige and find my local trails a lot more fun again, the mtb was overkill on most local trails (bridleways, farm tracks and cheeky footpaths!)

I would try a Scott Spark or Giant Anthem for fast XC

Rock and Roll, the blue one, not sure what it is called.
    Really good though.
Managed to get a bargain on CRC and got a 1L bottle in the sales

I think the educational copy is still £250.
But could be an option as that would be 14 monthly payments but obviously run for longer

I use lightroom 4 and elements 7 but want to use cs5 or cs6.
Mainly more creative photography with layers.
Loads of free links on you tube but don’t like the key gen files or downloading rar files with dll

Stevens Prestige – Awesome bike and great fun

I looked at the Cube Cross Race but was caught between two sizes so went for the Stevens

I think tubeless in road terms means tubluar (glued on tyres)

    Thanks for the updates.

Weather looking good for the weekend although a little rain today and tomorrow. Most of the heavy rain seems to be further south.

Miles of tracks (fire & single) around the forest. Mainly spilt into Brandon / Thetford / Stanton Downham.
The Brandon side is being felled in areas at the moment, although still lots to ride.
More than happy to show you round or you can meet us over there for a ride.
One of the better places to ride in the area. I have some local routes on bridleways that make for a good change to Thetford.

    Good lad!
Very well done to Cav, throughly deserves it for all the hard work but shame about speech.
As he was odds on to win it’s a shame that he didn’t have something prepared, but hey, Cav won and that it all that matters.

    CAV………………well done!

I ordered some bits last Sunday and am still waiting. I have emailed twice and spoken to them on the phone, issues with warehouse apparently. My order is still progressing and as I am waiting the other other bits I want to buy with my voucher are going out of stock!!!!!
Come on CRC, sort it out.

    LOL, couldn’t you build ramp?!?

I would keep mine in the house, but the wife went mad last time she come back from a night out and found my bike in the house!!

I have to say, I think it is sad that you can’t keep what you want in your own garage without the risk of some thieving scum bag thinking that it could be theirs.
I know many poeple who have £9k plus motorbikes in their garages, does that mean they have to keep them in the house?
As there are no punishsments for the scum they will continue.

I was there today, great course as always. The last mile or so of the course was quite testing as such as most of it was surprisingly uphill and on grass.
The section from near BCP was great, just stand up and pump for about 1/2 miles.
Called it a day after 3 laps at 1hr 40 ish.
3 proper ride since D2D after being ill.

Rig the garage door to the mains electric for when he comes back! Sorry to hear, theres just no need for it. When caught, they should lose a hand so that everybody knows!!

Sorry, rant over, just really annoys me.

Assuming you are clipped in, what happens if you pull up the left?
If the splines were that worn that the crank arms didn’t engage and drive they would spin when seated as well and be very difficult/confusing to ride.
Are you sure the rear hub is fitted properly?

Olde Cheshire Inn at Castleton is nice.
Not the cheapest but a good nights kip and quite central to some awesome riding.
Good YHA at Bakewell, Edale and Hathersage.

SPD on everything. I actually tried riding flats a few months ago and couldn’t get used to the lack of being able to pull the pedal up. Strange feeling.
No right or wrong really, just whatever feels right.

If you want to be geeky measure the height of the tyre unloaded from the ground to rim Now when you sit on the bike it should be 9% smaller with the correct pressure for your weight

Source? Is that tyre unloaded as in no reaction force between the tyre and ground?

Would have to be rider only, as it would be impossible to measure any reaction force.

All seems a bit teachy to me, run my tyres at 115psi whatever, commuting or taking part in long distance / chairty ride.

32 – 16 all year round, although do have a 15 still new. Can’t be bothered to change it to be honest. Will try 15 next spring.
32 – 16 for Thetford winter series if muddy!!

    +1 for Cotic Soda
I have had mine for 18months now and can’t fault it. Set-up with 100mm forks and to be honest can ride most stuff faster on this than I could my previous two full sussers.
Luckily I have a Simple aswell and ride these two bikes all the time. Tried to keep most contact points the same to keep the same feel.
Cotic only have a few remaining as they have stopped making them, get in while you can!!

RIP Marco – The next Rossi is no more 🙁

Edwards and Rossi had no where to go. I hope that this doesn’t have an effect on their racing going forward.
