If its the bearings just by cheap ones off ebay, prize the bearing seal off, pack full of fresh grease. Then tap out the old ones with a screw driver and press in the new ones using the old bearings. Had the same bb fort a while now and just do this whenever they go. Takes about 15-20 mins to do once done a few times. Got 10 bearings for about 10-15 quid, enough for 5 changes.

Thats on a stumpy evo carbon

Another Deuter user here. Carry shirt, trousers, underwear, small towel and food for the day. Leave the shoes at work. Choose the deuter because I like the webbing that lifts the pack off your back. Very comfortable and had it 5years and not worn. Zips good, stitching good. Recommended

680 is particularly wide. But should find handling will be improved a lot. For Xc 680 is about spot on (in my opinion)

I’m a van only driver…a transit. Love driving into work with all these shiny status symbol cars in the carpark and parking my status symbol tranny. Embrace the van. New vans really do drive like cars

Here go from a FOI request from Avon & Somerset Police – they are on and do work. 10%+2 rule generally applies to most police forces. Look at the top speeds!!!!!!

    1. How many speeding fines have been issued through the average speed check cameras on both motorways – please break this down per motorway.
    M4= 9032
    M5= 4945

2.Please break down the figures by month from the outset of the operation of the cameras.
    M4:
    April – 1160
    May – 2418
    June – 1131
    July – 2001
    August – 1442
    September – 880

    M5:
    April – 541
    May – 1206
    June – 783
    July – 1079
    August – 866
    September – 470

    3. What were the top five fastest times recorded through the cameras – please also state which days these happened.
    137 mph – 11/08/2012
    135 mph – 11/08/2012
    131 mph – 18/06/2012
    126 mph – 16/09/2012
    125 mph – 08/07/2012

    4. How much has been paid in speeding fines due to these cameras.
£168,780, This equates to 2813 payments of £60. More fine payments are likely to be received as the timescales involved in the process mean that not all drivers may have been identified or that court processes are still in progress if drivers have elected a court hearing rather than accept a fixed penalty notice or attend a speed education course.

    5. How many people have attended speed awareness courses due to being caught by these cameras?
    2582.

Well those people are selfish idiots.

They are not put there to annoy people but to protect the workers.

Don’t worry about them, you won’t be the one with a fine and points and even worse a death on your hands.

I know what you mean though, I just think some people don’t realise those cameras are the speed cameras or understand the concept of average.

I have a transit that I bought for 5000 with 76,000 on the clock. Now has 130,000 and had no issues. Made sure it had full service history and never miss a service. It’s my main vehicle and has been really good. They drive very well and are really comfortable. I

Chose a tranny as you can put bikes in across the width without dismantling which left a lot of room to put seats, sink, cooker in.

So all in I now have a bike carrying camper van for 7,000.

The plastic seal that goes around the freehub may not be pushed in place. Try a flat head screwdriver and gently push it in between the hub and body….. Hope that makes sense, was a couple if years ago I had one.

PSLING- I seem to remember “back in the day” when you practically needed trials riding skills to clear the Graveyard, you had to pick a line between or over rocks, trees and narrow causeways to get through it. Was why it was called the Graveyard I believe. Funny how trails change over the years (and bikes I guess) and how peoples’ likes and expectations also change.

HA – that trails only been about for around 10-12 years – hardly back in the day! Anyway the section you are on about is still there just not obvious and ridden each time I visit. The trail has hardly changed from when I rode it when it opened!

Got to agree with mr agreeable. Rode w2 on Friday and the graveyard has been turned from fast flowy to a slower slog in sections. The nice rocky sections have been replaced with clay mud dragged from the trail sides.

Have a look at g-form. They are my choice on longer 30 mile rides over my fox pads, Superflexible, wear and forget. Had a few knocks in them and they have been fine. They come in black and not just the bright yellow version

1 downhill race – 1 set of timing, 1 set of marshalls, 1 first aid cover

3 Stage enduro – 3 sets of timing, 3 sets of marhsalls, 3 lots of first aid cover

    plus all the other costs.

    Seems pretty reasonable to me

It may be that the lining of nasel passage is weak and get irriated easy when breathing hard outdoors. This can nause the nasel passage to swell and feel blocked, increase mucus and generally make you feel like your about to get a cold. 48 hours later it goes and doesn’t really evolve, but makes you feel crap.

You can strengthen your nasal passage with a hay fever nasal spray called Beconase. Its a spray that contains steriods to strengthen the lining. Two spray first thin in the morning and last thing at night for two weeks and then once day for another week and it should have gone, if not sooner.

Had the same problem a couple of years ago and the doctor suggested this approach and it worked.

Oh and its a substance that is on the allowed list that i found somewhere on the BCF Website.

    Depends what you call tech.

You can do both by following the w2 route but if your mate isn’t that confident I would say this is too long. For a beginner they are technical, for an experienced rider they are not highly tech.

If you want to have ago at both I would do the wall first, go back to the trail centre, have a rest grab some food and drive upto glyncorrwg if he’s feeling good and tackle whites.

The problem you may have riding both in one go is if he gets tired then it will be difficult for him as its a fairly long ride (3-5hrs)

    Great fun single track trails

I have found over the years that ensuring your arms are kept warm and especially the cuff area makes a huge difference no matter what gloves you wear. It’s all about blood circulation.

Fox antifreeze for the last two winters, same pair still going strong. I like these the most because they don’t feel stupid thick like others.

For me with right gear on its the best time of the year. All the foliage had died and some of the most fun trails are fast again.

Ok Northwind let’s call a truce on this. I’m not singling bikeradar out, all mags are the same and you have to read between the lines on any review as they are all businesses.

Maybe the 2nd reviewer had just spent the last two years on a fs.

    Hopk1ns

Northwind- there’s a moderator on bikeradar forum called Northwind. That’s odd you on here defending the corporation. I guess your not the same one, well I guess you’ll say that anyway.

    Hopk1ns

Northwind – As with most things in life it all comes down to money, while the guys that write the magazine are passionate about bikes. Its the guys in suits that really have the influence.

Those mags are no longer about passionate people making a magazine its baout a large corporation of magazine titles making a profit. Nice big double page advert, lets have a slightly better review for them. Not overating but you know, lets just like it a little more.

    Sorry way off topic OP

I have a 456 as a 2nd bike (other is full sus 150mm). Pretty much agree with MBnut above.

If I was to only have a hardtail then the c456 would probably feature high on the list.

And because their reviews are based on advertising revenue. After all they are a business, save the good reviews for those that spend lots on buying advertising space.

Maybe the content of the courses is not upto scratch and doesn’t educate well enough to change attitudes.

    Oh dear oh dear

Cyclists, walkers and horse riders are classed as vulnerable road users. Motorised vehicles are the reason they are classed as vulnerable. The two don’t mix. Byways are really for farmers to access land.

1 Cyclists way may weigh around 100kg and won’t really do much damage to any trail.

1 landrover weighs around 1.5 ton and can destroy a surface on any trail and make it difficult for other users.

1 walker could weigh 90kg and does very little damage.

1 Horse riders weigh a lot and still won’t do much damage.

    Which one shouldn’t be there?
