Ha ha, brilliant. I used to work at a private school in the cotswold, lots of dads wore these.
Hopk1nsFree MemberIt helps people who need to feel better about themselves…. feel better.
Hopk1nsFree MemberTry sportypal.com. I have used it for the last two years. Its a bit like endomundo. Gives altitude, laps, manual laps etc. And I like the 3d earth plugin that looks great if you have done a hilly ride.
Hopk1nsFree MemberThere is a business registered as cranham woods. Says its a real estate business registered in the tysons names. Found it online ages ago but cant remember where. I also noted several other business names registered.
Hopk1nsFree MemberUsually on motors tv about 9 days later. Just have to avoid results till then.
Hopk1nsFree MemberTry having the valve at the bottom and push down slightly so the tire bulges a bit and the walls spread out around the valve.
The tyre is probably tighter as its a mud tyre and designed to be run at lower pressures and not come off the rim.Hopk1nsFree MemberI also recommend the Gaerene’s. Have never failed to keep my feet dry.
Hopk1nsFree MemberFourcross masters national champ 2005 and 2007
Fourcross Masters National series winner 2004 and 2007
Done ok in downhill completely crap at xc races but like to make up the numbers.Hopk1nsFree MemberBought a ht pro as a second bike to the full sus. Got to say a really nice bike that will put many other more expensive brands to shame.
To be honest I dont think you can get better for the price or for £500 more.Hopk1nsFree Member1987- age 14- wanted a radio controlled car and my dad bought me a mtb. And that was it, first race two years later and not missed a single race season 21 yrs later. Bring on 2012. I love this sport and am proud to be part of it.
Hopk1nsFree MemberAnd the Grammar Nazis are revealed.
If I was into fishing I would be quite happy with that catch.
lol
Hopk1nsFree MemberI’ll second that…
Had a warranty issue on a GF and the warranty had some complications and they soughted everything for me and I had a new frame delivered and built up. Add to which I wanted to do an event at the weekend and they built the bike up for me within an hour of me calling to see if it had arrived.
Also would like to say thanks to TREK for honouring the warranty and sourcing a new frame even though they has ceased production of that model.
All round good service.
Hopk1nsFree MemberI have had one for the last 12 months. Yeah you don’t see many around. Totally underrated and a bike that Dirt featured in the top 100 products of 2010. Mine gets used for everything XC, DH, Jumps, Climbs & pedals very well too.
Roscoe 1 frame, FOX Talas 32’s, FOX rp23 shock, Elixir’s, Bonty wheels set up tubeless, 50 mm stem, truvativ 2 ring chain device, KSI dropper post, xt/slx mix,
Hopk1nsFree MemberMaybe this is the group/forum we need to engage with and gain representation on?
Gloucestershire Local Access Forum
Meeting attendees seems to be made up of land owners & rights of way users along with council reps. Minutes at the bottom of the page list points of discussion and problems at coopers hill, leckhampton etc.
Their is also a LAF Members profile doc of who sits on the forum and their background.
Last meeting was on the 13th October but those minutes are not on view yet. I’m guessing that Cranham may very well be mentioned there. It also states several new members recently appointed, would be interesting to find out who they are?
They also seem to be in discussion with Natural England.
Anyway here is the link:
Hopk1nsFree MemberIt would seem to me that someone is stirring things up in the background. It may just be a coincidence that there is a new landowner on part of the woods that I met last February – He quite clearly didn’t want us there and also blatantly lied about how much of the area he had bought – I had a look on line and quite easliy found a map of the area that he bought.
Anyway I would think someone has started to stir things up by getting support from local groups. First stop would be the Cranham Parish Council, attend thier meeting, raise a point about mtb’s in the wood. Next contact Natural Britain and raise concern over damage to trees etc by mtbs. Then something called the Cranham Corner Management Commitee (found them online). There’s probably nobody within these groups that supports mtb’s nobody to support us and slowly a movement begins to oust us from that area.
What’s needed is contact and representation at the Parish Council to start with and find out whats going on. I did have a look at thier website online but couldn’t find any meeting minutes to see if mtbs have been raised as an issue.
Did find a survey carried out by cranham residents in 2009 and one section had 49% against MTB’s in the woods and 51% was split into didn’t mind or were supportive.
I would put it down to the new land owner who is probably very aware of how to get what they want in the countryside. Parish councils carry alot of power and lots of influence/contacts. Gain their support and things can happen.
But then again that works both ways. ;-)
Hopk1nsFree Membernot as of yesterday, but they are making progress and from what i saw they were clearing the path as they went. As for the section i mentiond, that indeed is not part of the new owners land.
Hopk1nsFree MemberTry a bmx track. Most tracks have jumps for all abilities. Start small and take your time. It’s not about speed, but more about pumping the terrain and learning how to move your body around the bike to gain pump and lift on take off and again on landing, whilst being relaxed in the air.
Start small, learn how your body feels and practice until it feels natural. As any new skill, after a little practice you will learn to be comfortable in the air. Then it’s just psychological as far as size goes.
A good way to practice at a bmx track is to try doing a lap without pedaling ar all, role the star hill and use your arms and hips to pump. After a while you’ll be amazed how much speed you gain. Once you’ve got that far, try using the same action on some of the smaller jumps and try to relax and let the front lift. Keep doing this until you get air
Once your tired call it a day, and never never say one last jump
Oh and don’t bother with twrch jumps, lots of kick but not very long. Really not very good to learn on.
Hopk1nsFree MemberAnyone know if its muddy in the FOD yet? Could put my muds on when i get there but would prefer to do it the day before. Weathers looking good on the metoffice
Hopk1nsFree MemberPlace you heal on the pedal and adjust your seat until your leg is completely straight. Then clip in and you should find your leg is slightly bent. This is a good way to ensure you aren’t over stretching but don’t have the seat to high to effect handling.
Hopk1nsFree MemberMoan, Moan, Moan,
Been racing mtb bikes every year since the Marlborough Classic in 1990ish?. 21 years of Dh, XC & 4x in all that time I have never organised a series or single race because, well… I can’t be arsed. I am just glad there are people out there who are willing to run events for me to enjoy. And I don’t mind if the people who are willing to put the time and energy into events make a little profit.
The sport in this country needs more races of this style and if in order for the series to be proffesional and well organsied to a national standard series i don’t mind paying a little more to secure that.
Hopk1nsFree MemberIf you go on the fbook page, click events and open up round one.
Hopk1nsFree MemberHad a Gravity Dropper for over 12 months now and it’s been outstanding.
You can strip clean and put back together in as matter of minutes, they really are that simple.
I wouldn’t dismiss the bar mount option, it really makes a difference on trails to be able to drop 1″ or 4″ without stopping and then poping the saddle back up again.
They only negative is they look abit industrial.
Hopk1nsFree MemberLets get her to write and release a song about grumpy land owners.
Hopk1nsFree MemberThoughout our little chat both of us were v polite. I think the diplomatic approach is the way ahead, and I hope his current view of us is not what we are really like. But what worries me is the horses, that surprised me. I think they just don’t want anyone there. He did say he owned a mile and a half the other side of the White house, but looking at some boundary maps of bucklholt woods ( not for sale) they end at the car park before the short rooty climb and with the track down to the house, so I guess he was fibbing about how much he owned.
The chap that lives in the house deep down the hill in the woods is a friendly chap with no worries. He even apologised once for tarmacing his drive and making the climb easier.
It’s all very well thinking I’ll just ride there anyway but it won’t be a very relaxing ride.
Hi hairy or should I call you slam these days, kis kis – cranham seems to breed these problems eh? You should know
Hopk1nsFree MemberFrom the ramblers assoc website:
The grounds on which a right of way claim may be made
A right of way may be claimed on the basis of user evidence (i.e. evidence that the public has established a right of way by using a defined route over a period of time), or documentary evidence (i.e. evidence based on historical documents such as tithe maps), or both.
Claiming a right of way using evidence of public useIn order to make a claim for a right of way based on public use you’ll need to be able to demonstrate all of the following:
* A period of at least 20 years uninterrupted use by the public, counted backwards from the date when the public’s right to use the way was called into question. If the public’s right to use the path has not been called into question the 20-year period should be calculated backwards from the date of your DMMO application.
* Use should be ‘as of right’, which means without secrecy, force or the express permission of the landowner. But there’s no need for the public to have believed it was a right of way they were using.
* Use must be by the public at large, not just certain tenants or employees of an estate.
* Use must follow a linear route.Hopk1nsFree MemberHe said he owned one and a half miles on the otherside of the house as well. So he owns from the road junction at the top all the way past the mill, past the White house and for another mile and a half, all on the mill side of the road
Hopk1nsFree MemberOh and he also tried to make out it wasn’t there fault and that they didn’t want to be “spoil sports” but it’s because of rare plants etc!
Hopk1nsFree MemberFrom Natural England – i know it’s walkers only etc but what can they really do! the police are not going to go hunting round a wood for soeone on a bike!
Open Access land
Under the Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000 (CROW), the public can walk freely on mapped areas of mountain, moor, heath, downland and registered common land without having to stick to paths.People across England now have approximately 865,000 hectares of land across which they can walk, ramble, run, explore, climb and watch wildlife as they are given the freedom to access land, without having to stay on paths.
The new rights, for which people have been campaigning for over 100 years, came into effect across all of England on 31 October 2005.
Hopk1nsFree MemberYes, shrine area, the mill the house a mile and a halk past the house and back the other way to the road
Hopk1nsFree MemberThey are deffo the new owners as they were waiting in the the mill
He was just under 6ft tall, overweight and balding, in his 60’s/70’s at a guess with a lovelly tank top and shirt on.
My guess is they can’t really do anything and will just keep being unpleasent to people in a bid to stop people going there. Don’t think it’ll work though.
Judging by his physique i don’t think there is any chance of him chasing us
Hopk1nsFree MemberStayed at club le santa a couple of years ago. Lots of riding out there, very open and rockey desolate place. You can just pick a trail and go.
Hopk1nsFree MemberAnd if you do bump into them be polite to them, show them that we are a nice bunch of people and we may be ok.
Hopk1nsFree MemberI run a slightly larger front tyre so that
when slamming into corners the back will breakaway before the front, which is alot easier to controlHopk1nsFree MemberWhich ever one you buy, ring in sick on the first warm sunny day in spring and go ride guilt free.
