Both easy to fit on hope 20fives but impossible to keep air in… I have tried everything but still have to pump them up for every ride

Ideal. Thanks for all the suggestions, good to hear both pros and cons of aosta… think we will head there and explore a bit, eat some pasta and see what’s on but have a feeling we will still hang out in Cham and ailfroide a bit, just so I can guarantee getting some climbing in.
Intrigued by tignes, might be good for the kids for a few days.
Think we may hit arolla too, just to get some easy altitude for the kids and easy access to high ground for me! Haha

👍🏻 Thanks, think aosta is high on the cards

Seems to be the consensus that it’s low across the board this year. I have spoken to several tourism related business friends who are seeing the same.

We have reduced our remaining weeks to lower than we first rented it for 5 years ago and still no bookings

    Bloody brexit… it must be

    Cheers for all advice.
Smart pricing is off, so worrying that it’s showing as £2k!!! It is set at £200 per night now. I’d better try and contact air bnb, looks like a problem

We have to do 7 days only, as we only rent for school holidays and shorter stays are not worth doing with change overs etc, for such a short rental period.

Just weird that for 5 years we have been swamped with bookings and this year is desolate… nothings changed, not even our prices!

Fair point, used to have some location pics. Don’t know where they have gone…
    I’ll upload some more.

Haha, crossed my mind too nico!

It’s near bude, very popular area in summer and a beautiful location by the best beaches
Price is £1400 a week, air bnb charge the ever increasing extra on top
But that aside, our price hasn’t changed for two years and it’s always booked very quickly (a static caravan in croyde is the same price during the school hols 😳)

Sykes, owners direct charge so much these days, it’s only worth using them
If you run a holiday let business, we just rent our house occasionally.

I think it’s just a case that the market may now be saturated and unless you do what air bnb want, they drop you to the bottom of the listings

I’ll have a good look at the mantle, cheers. Had a couple of genesis bikes over the years and happy to buy another.
It’s amazing what you don’t know, when you are looking for a slightly different bike to normal! I was completely unaware of the mantle!
    Cheers

I know…I really want a race whippet but the geometry of the dv9 seems to offer so much more potential, for relatively little compromise on its race worthiness!

Not sure I can justify buying new though, I know I’ll get carried away with the build and get in all kinds of trouble. Seems like nobody is interested in them this side of the Atlantic though, so 2nd hand may be hard to find

I agree with your sentiment regarding 100-120mm, Scott spark is on the list, seems to be a lot of love for them and plenty about 2nd hand

Nobody rates ibis hardtails then? Or does nobody like mountain bikes on here at all? 😂😂
Now if I’d asked for opinions on a gravel bike, it would be two pages by now!

In all seriousness, I’m still after opinions or alternatives, turns out I know very little about this kind of bike

No idea what your on about? I assume other ibis models? not a clue, haha. Never looked at ibis before, not normally my kind of thing.
If the tranny is similar but older/cheaper? It’s probably worth me having a look

Edit: just had a look… tranny looks/sounds good, still prefer the dv9 but any feedback on the later tranny’s would be good too

Hurrah for pedals bikes, I have had thoroughly pleasant, helpful, efficient and money saving dealings with them too!

I don’t really want to spend more than £1k, ideally £7-800 but I could equally find myself convincing myself to spend £1500+ Im an idiot and cant control myself….So best to say I don’t have a budget until I know what im looking for

Thanks but think I’m leaning toward a hard tail and something a bit cheaper than a top fuel 9.9

A few bikes I was unaware of in there

I dont have a budget yet… as little as possible but i’ll spend what i need to, to get the right bike, when i have got my head around it.
i just dont want to get distracted by bikes im more familiar with, like the chameleon. I kind of know im looking for a very different bike to what i know.
It will be solely used for xc, marathon races and training

Cheers…Whats good though? in terms of a modern race orientated bike. I have no idea what im looking at in modern xc bikes. Im also well out of my comfort zone as im even considering a carbon frame, which i have never owned…

im instantly drawn to that green s/c chameleon but i know thats not what im looking for, or is it?

cheers, im just looking for recommendations for complete bikes, im just starting the search and could do with some help narrowing it down, its all a bit out of my area of bike knowledge
I would also like something ridiculously light, just ‘cus

    More excellent suggestions, cheers
I’m trying to avoid the motorhome thing, we had one very similar to the Carioca 656 and whilst it was very comfy and worked very well, it felt a little too holiday home like and took away from the point of camping, limiting us to where we could stay.
I do like the look of the euramobils though, clearly German!

Surprisingly £15k buys a very nice motorhome, our last one was immaculate with 29k miles and all the bells and whistles for £14k

I just really don’t want another, at least not until I’m old enough to accept aztec beige velour as a tasteful finish to the upholstery!

I concluded that building a van to suit us, on a crafter or sprinter is our best bet but I just don’t have time this side of summer.

I think I’m going to be left hoping another westy, or possl, or similar turns up in time.

La Strada yes, look a bit small though but get were your coming from regarding the westfalia finish. Thought I’d got the Florida, gutted I didn’t get a deposit down in time.
    I’ll check out murvi’s, cheers

What I really want is a nutrition/meal plan suitable for the goals and activities I do. I’m just guessing at what would help.
It would also help to have that structure for general family food shop and cooking, as I’m sure a lot of you are aware, chaotic busy family life often means, emergency takeaway/ beans on toast, eating the kids Easter eggs while they sleep etc, as you had not planned anything for a couple of days haha

Rent my house? Oak framed eco house 1.5 miles from the beach (think we still have availability that week)
Mtb potential from the front door, the two best beaches in north Cornwall down the road
In a village called Stibb, near bude

I was hoping to find something used on eBay but there’s actually some bargains about… most of the above are around the £200+ mark, more than I wanted to spend but very good price and new!
    Hmmm luteus, akrose or atr?

    hooja

    Many thanks everyone…
I’m leaning toward the atr fork but there’s also a couple of new ones on there too, like the spork… flat mount though.
    Much appreciated

Good to here all of the above
Anyone got any gpx files, or recommendations of cool places to stay?

I’d definitely like to have a blast up some of the road climbs too

Forgot about the early riders… he had a used one as his balance bike.
    The bigger ones look ace!

    Maybe 20” could work
Might pop down to Halfords with him, for a cheeky size check

Definitely will buy 2nd hand… I only by used for myself too.
I guess light and with options to progress on it would be the priorities! He already thinks he’s at World Class standards of gnarr

Funnily enough we were just chatting about that with a friend, who bought a mobile home on a big site as a holiday let. They seem to do ok as a little income booster off that… hmmm

I guess the main motivation to consider selling is, we fancy living in a different house, somewhere more sociable, for a bit

Cornwall and where we live currently is perfect for that… just don’t want to get into more debt to do it… I costed out building a couple a year or so ago but we would need about £100k for huts and infrastructure..
    It’s an option though

That’s the plan but doesn’t give us anything other than being mortgage free. Got to be a way to earn from our spare equity…. or maybe not
