does everyone wash their hands every time they go for a slash?
i dont, what are you expecting to catch, the plague? what do you do when out riding, run around panicking with your hands in the air, refusing to ride on until you have found a stream and some willow bark to clean your mitts?

Thought about all the above but had a few bad experiences with badly wrapped stuff being damaged when i got it, didnt really want to do that to someone im selling to. Sometimes it sucks living in the sticks, cant get hold of owt you need, when you need it.
Will try bradwells ralph, looks like an option.

If you fancy north cornwall,1 mile from the coast, im building a house at the mo and always need a hand, got a field and some woods to kip in and a compost toilet (all you need)! Even if you dont make it while im building you can give me a hand landscaping the garden next year (got a massive stone wall to build (bloody planners). Obviously work fits in around riding and surfing.
Allways happy to put people up especially if i get some help/motivation out of it.
    drop me a line!

These are brilliant, seen a few around and they look like the most flexible option, particularly if you are gonna be dragging different length boards.
I want one but havent got round to looking at the price yet, think it will probably put me off (shed build instead i reckon)

I meant tapered, like i said this is a new development for me! Not bought the frame yet, its just i have read that the 2011 model will have a tapered head tube. Im assuming i can either buy a chris king headset that will work or a new bottom for my existing ck headset? (or try and find a 2010 frame?

    Time to close the thread…..
Born and raised in the peaks, spent most of it on two wheels, now live i n Cornwall and if it wasnt for the lack of surf in the peak i would be back up there like a shot, trails down here just dont cut it with the north (or wales, which is easier to get to from the peaks). The south aint great and as for the south east, that will all be under water soon….ahhh shame!

    CRC SUCK!!!
never had a good experience with them, placed an order two weeks ago, they happily took my money straight away, 7 days after still not recieving it i called them, they told me that it was out of stock and would be in in a month or so. I asked why i had not been told this before, they claimed that it was on the item list, was it ****, it is now though. How can a company take your money and then not bother to inform you about lack of stock or delay in delivery. NEVER agian will i use them..grrrr

Yep might have to make the trek to exeter to try some similar bikes at the weekend!
Hazel: if you were tempted with the 18" then im guessing it still felt ok? as your 3" taller im reckoning that the 16" should be ok for her too. How much seat post do you have out on the 16" when in xc mode?

Its just i can get a very good deal on a core 20, its a real shame she cant test one out first, or even a different make with similar geo. We really do live miles from a decent shop that stocks proper bikes.
think we just may have to go for it and hope it fits or sell it on. Cant really find any other bikes that seem as good for the money.

Un less you are particularly allergic to it, dont belive the horror stories.
I spend most of the summer covered in its mascerated remains. You really need to be exposed to the juicy inner core, the stem and leaves are a very minor irritant (i expect that you brushed against a nettle next to the hog). If you wash it off immediately its normally ok. If it continues to redden, cover up and dont expose the skin to sunlight for a few days. This pretty much saves you from the blisters.
If it does blister, pop em, and treat with steroid cream, its not that bad. Worst you get longterm is a bit of skin discoloration.
My forearms were covered in juicy bits worse than ever before this year, it looked pretty nasty (like i had a serious drug problem) but wasnt painful and soon cleared up.
Get it in yours eyes though and its a different matter altogether, get to the docs asap

seller measured centre to centre, which is 15" ish, same as my 18" inbred again.
A 15" shred should be a tiny frame i would have thought being all jumpy biased as it is!

Fed up of ebay disputes just managed to get a refund on an evil soverign frame i bought, it never arrived, seller never got in contact. Then found out he had set up account in ex girlfriends name and had been merrily ripping people off for a while! its all a massive ball ache, think this may be my last ebay purchase for some time.

just measured off from the online spec and the wheelbase and top tube length are the same as the size lrg 17" model.
Seller is sticking to his guns, what a frikkin pain in the ass.
Looks like im going to end up stuck with it.
anyone want a 17" shred frame?

Cheers for your thoughts people, I have just ordered the xtools kit from crc: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=40997

Like foxy said, if this lasts for the two builds i'll be happy, at least i have decent standard tools for everything else, it seems like these deals are pretty good for bike specific tools, that wont be used to death, although i will see when it arrives!! 8)

yep, what i was thinking, just wanted to see if ayone had any bad experience with either those or the xtools (think they are the same).
    reckon im going for it

at the end of the day i guess it cant be that heavy, i must have ridden more inappropriate frames on long xc rides over the years.
I just want to make sure its not going to seriously put her off.

all sounds good, think it just comes down to the fact that this has turned up before anything else. dialled alpine does look good but dont think i've ever seen a 2nd hand one and £370 new is too much .
How much more painfull really will the sovereign be on a long xc ride than the soul, i'm happy to sacrifice some for the chuckability, but its still got to be a pleasure not a chore, to just go for a long ride.

Similar conditions here too (cornwall) often wet and very often greasy and then claggy on the moors, maybe the aspens arent for the job then!

seems like the advantage is getting the vote for the rear? anyone looked at the aspen?
Its so bloody complicated these days, too many bloody tyres on the market. Espeacially if you dont want to buy/swap tyres everytime the weather changes.

if it is cracked, good luck getting it resolved. I bought a kona dr dew (in mint condition, supposedly) turned up with two cracks in the weld around the head tube and a stuffed front mech. ebay did NOTHING! and the guy who sold it me dissapeard and even sold his phone, so when i eventually got through it was someone who had just bought the phone from free ads. I just have to comfort myself that Karma will make the seller die alone of syphilis!

this is good stuff, id seen the boardman but not the gt or genius, they are all very good spec, im thinking the gt would have the greater resale value for the frame

Yep, seen em, gutted though, fork is too short, im after something around 130mm, rest of the spec is a blinder though, for the money
