A lot smokier and a lot better, according to my taste buds. I didn’t like Jura superstition at all.

Same with everything in this life, theres good and bad…
I’ve been using merino for years, mostly for climbing/mountaineering, loafing around and working, although i do use merino blends for cycling.
the icebreaker lightweights from sport pursuit aren’t that great really, seem to get damp quicker than most and rip if you look at them wrong.
    best i have found are:
    Finisterre eddy base (the king)
    Patagonia (various weights, all good)
Torm and rapha (same thing aren’t they?) sport wool blend, best for riding.
Typically they are all pretty pricey but i will happily part with my money gladly when i need a new one and I’m not a wealthy man.
Synthetics are fine if your gonna get real sweaty and be out in the wind but for EVERYTHING else i much prefer sheep hair shirts

splash out and buy a finisterre merino base, reassuringly expensive but you won’t regret it

cheers blindmelon, I had thought about distance learning but not really looked into it, i guess i should!
I was always of the impression that QS was a foot in the door for various jobs, building control, architectural consultant, project manager etc.
I have been considering going down that route for project management, ideally so i can remain self employed. i guess you have looked into these options though. Best of luck.

It is a tricky move to make, thats for sure. Im guessing others are in the same position as me aswell, 35yrs old, mortgage and used to earning decent money (for my lifestyle anyway)
Going back to uni is the last thing i want to do really, 3 yrs of being truly skint and then leaving with a massive debt, I’ve only just paid off my last student loan!
There has to be jobs out there that require a particular type of person, rather than a particular degree!

Cheers for the ideas, nepal is not a bad idea at all, I’ve spent quite a bit of time in the himalayas but missus has never been, hmmm… Only shame would be lack of time, month or more would be good!
Scotland has been thought about but would like a decent chance of good weather.
Doing something completely different was considered partly because it may be the last proper holiday we will do without kids, for a few years.

Cheers mike, I think thats pretty much what we are thinking but so used to travelling around under our own steam we are not sure where to head if we choose to leave the van at home.
Anyone spent much time in corsica?

cheers all, loads of food for thought. Think i have convinced myself to get some more money in the pot and, head down either the terra nova route again or maybe a lightwave. Missus would kill me if i bou=ght a hilleberg.
Would mostly be used in high mountains right through the year, so gotta be a strong one, without a silly 80% mesh liner.

sorry, didn’t realize, they are both on the companies site here: sawaj ultra
    and here: flame

All good suggestions, thanks, i will check them out.
£100 for the husky is tempting though, even though it may be a let down…and bright red

Thanks for all the views, do you think that using one of those funky little ass saver mudguards would be sufficient, to give the saddle a fighting chance in the rain?
I try not to go out if its raining heavy but get caught out in the rain a lot and don’t ever use mudguards.

watch it for free on cucirca
Definitely entertaining but don’t know if i would pay for the dvds, fine to watch for free though. Beware of the sex scenes if your easily shocked, as some are a gnats c*ck away from pron…

    ehhh! what?
my explanation is invalid? errr, You asked why it was called the cornwall tor, i told you why, its a play on words, it has no bearing on number of tors or anything else, just a simple play on words…
well thought out and succinct enough for you? You asked i told you what i know, got a problem, take it up with the organisers.

oh and ps, what picture? you mean the one that isn’t visible?

What is it with this site, you ask a simple question and have to deal with pedantic trolls, with nothing better to do but use irrationality to start and argument and make themselves feel all big a clever. Whilst entirely failing to add anything of value to the original question.

You keep telling yourself that yunki, if it makes you feel better and while your at it you may want to address the way you strange folk dress your scones!

Tor, as in the tors found on dartmoor and bodmin moor, most specifically bodmin as dartmoor is over the border in england!!

I like the look of the raide alpine and antibes sounds like a good place to end but the draw of all the classic cols in the pyrenees is so tempting.
Would be great if you could send the report through graham, we have just started looking at route planning and that could be very helpful.

do you all have daily leg massages? or weekly 100+mile rides? or crash a lot?
just out of interest, don’t see the benefit otherwise!
I have toyed with it myself but unless there is an amazing benefit, seems like too much effort, i rarely shave my face.
Don’t your good ladies freak out?

Never listen off road but always have tunes on when I’m on the road on my own and LOUD too.
I would be interested to hear a valid argument for not listening to music on the road, aswell as comments on here i am always hearing from friends how dangerous it is…err how exactly? Without headphones all i can hear is wind and why do i need to hear cars coming up from behind me? If they are planning on mowing me down i am going to gain little comfort from the fact that i heard them coming! Im not in the habit of diving for the hedgerows every time a car approaches. Maybe I’m missing something, although i don’t live in the city, maybe thats what your all talking about!

Currently listening to Kyuss and death in vegas a lot on the bike

Thanks again for all the advice, just back from physio, painful but greatly improved. Theory goes that my hamstrings are ridiculously short at the moment and potentially the cause for it flaring up. Hamstring stretches and get on the roller.
Really want to get out for a ride over the weekend but guess i should be sensible, not my strongest point!

    hooja

thanks all, i understand its a pretty common complaint, all the advice is good as i don’t want it getting this bad again. Anyone had any experience of changing bike setup to minimise it flaring up?

yep seen the roubaixs, no good…
I’m 5’11” 33″ waist. I have had castellis in xl but large in everything else i have had.
understandable that they are the first sizes to run out, just fancy a nice new pair for a 280 miler I’m off on on thurs. Haven’t had a new pair in quite a while but can’t justify splashing too much cash at the moment

had castelli before, and like them, may try dhb. What I’m looking for is any good deals/sales out there at the moment. Been searching but any decent sale bibs are never in my size. There must be somewhere with a cracking offer at the mo
