Yep, mech is sat right and it will slip in any gear, not just on the 42
Twisted link on a new chain? had a look but all looks good and it will slip at any point on the chain
simondbarnes, how can you be so sure? its not that old and they are very hardwearing

Im not sure the uno should work at all with an 11spd chain?

Is anyone running an uno with a 1×11 setup?

Am i going to have to buy a x type spider and a suitable 4 bolt chainring? hope not

I too have just bought one, did you buy the large from Pedals in Edinburgh? I noticed it had gone, straight after i bought the medium
Just waiting for it to turn up and then building will commence., I’m going for 1×11
    Heres the spec:
    Stans crest wheels
Skin wall ardents, 2.4 front and 2.25 rear
    woodchippers
    Sram force cx1 1×11 shifters
    sram nx r mech
    11-42 sunrace cassette
    32t middleburn Rs8 crank
    Trp spyre brakes
    Thomson stem and layback post
    Cambium for the ass
    Hope for the spinny bits

    Thanks for all the advice…
For anyone thats interested, I have taken a punt on a new 2016 frameset in medium (i figured i will be riding on trails and single track 80% of the time and only offroad touring occasionally, so taken a chance on geometry similar to what i ride on a hardtail mtb)
Build from a few bits i have, some new on order and a couple I’m still looking for:
    Stans crest wheels
    Skinwall ardents
    woodchippers
    Sram force cx1 1×11 shifters
    sram nx r mech
    11-40 sunrace cassette
    32t middleburn Rs8 crank
    Trp spyre brakes
    Thomson stem and post
    Cambium for the ass
    Hope for the spinny bits

    Cant flippin’ wait!!!

Big thanks too, to the chaps at Pedals in Edinburgh… A pleasure to deal with and a big help!

I have been bitten twice (badly) by dogs whilst running on fairly remote trails, with little or no apology or reaction from the dog owners.
I am yet to be bitten by a mountain biker.

Cheers Scud, Yep had a chat to those guys, nice guys too but its still a bit more than i can justify, as i know the rest of the build cost will inevitably snowball.
Im also nervous about spending so much on a frame, when I am dead between the medium and large, based on size charts and everyone feedback.
Its easier to take a punt on getting the right size when you are spending less money

Anyone any ideas where to find a fargo frameset, without spending a fortune. Have been looking for a while now, for a used one and no joy!
Any european shops, cheaper than uk? its a pricey frameset and its in danger of ending up a pricey build all in, which I’m trying to avoid
    cheers

Not seen the new sequoia, had been looking at the awol but wasn’t too keen. It’s nice and a very good price!
I’m still leaning towards the Fargo build but the kona and the Camino ti ( not interested in the ally one) keep holding me back and the Tripster atr but I can’t afford that. Wish I lived somewhere I could test any of them! Although nice idea from sonder to rent them out!

Cheers Dougal, your a legend. If I’m heading up that way before I either find one or buy the frameset, ill give you a shout. Might be up for the Christmas market at the end of the month

How has everyone got on with sizing? As I can’t try one first and I have read a few blogs that claim salsas sizing chart are wrong.
    I’m 5’11” and I think, a 31-32″ leg

Thanks so far everyone, lots to think about and reinforced the issues I thought with cranks, brakes etc. Thanks for links to other threads, that’ll be a big help.
Dougal, the spec on yours and on the ti, sounds amazing
As I said if this gets too privy I will just consider buying a Camino ti
Teetosugars, let me know if you do think of selling! I may very well be keen

I agree, if £500 is all I could get then I might keep it, as its a worth more than that as piece of kit, even if the market dictates that its not!
I just wasn’t sure if quality still sold even if its not the current fad. If I could get £800 id be tempted to sell it to buy a frame though

V666ern, that’s the 29″ version, bit more current, so Im guessing its more desirable?

Johnners, Im a serial bike builder, that’s the problem. I have been wanting to build up a simple for years and glad I have, its an amazing bike, however a few options for trips coming up means that I need a more touring orientated bike and if I sell the simple I can justify titanium frame :D

I like the thought of using a lot of the lovely components off it on the new build, it’ll just break my heart to strip it down, its so bloody nice!

That’s the problem, it took me 18 months to find the frame, there are never any on ebay anymore to gauge value

Rent my house in Cornwall ;)
Let them bomb around the big secure garden
Hang out at the quiet beaches down the road
    Cycle/walk round the woods
Be entertained at the big sheep and otter sanctuary and many petting zoo’s
Several soft play, wet day options a few miles in either direction
As you can guess, we have a toddler too, I’m a pro at toddler activities now!

cheers, some good advice all round
Mtb is no good as she is a roadie and has never been into mtbs, she likes drops too much. The idea behind a cx or similar is with the aim to be able to ride forest trails etc, plus some longer alps jaunts in the summer (as long as the nippers patience holds up!)

Will be buying 2nd hand but none on ebay so could be looking a while!
Who’d have thought it would be so difficult to find an ss steel frame for 26″ wheels that isn’t a bloody inbred?

Been looking a while and not seen any for sale.
The Alfine doesn’t have that much of an impact on the genesis, still feels sprightly itself. Too bloody steep round here for one gear, so it’s a sacrifice I have to make

No no no, none of this 29er malarkey, I keep my big wheels for the roadie. I’m after a 26″
After horizontal dropouts so I can fit the Alfine from the genesis too

Perhaps I am niaeve but I am enjoying the way Nibali is riding, so much so i am watching the highlights having watched it live. He is earning his (probable) victory.

    +1
Enough of all the nay saying about Wiggins this, Froome that, drug speculation the other….. Today, there was some bloody spectacular riding, in an amazing setting, whats not to love?

You are better off heading to padstow or another more commercial port, as there isn’t a great deal of call for charter fishing round bude, most of the fishing is just a few guys out earning their crust.
Places like Padstow, Newquay etc are more geared up for tourists.
Although saying that, I’m sure if you head down to the lock gates and ask around you well get a cheaper deal as very few round here advertise.
Good luck and hope you have a great time down yer!

    Cheers all,

Thought about dropping the price, but we are already charging £100 less per week than it has been valued and its definitely better value than others near by.
You can pay £800 per week for a bloody yurt nearby! or £1200 for a static caravan in crappy croyde!
Dont think location is an issue, as anyone choosing the bude area must be choosing it because they want a bit of peace and quiet and quieter beaches, not newquay style tat and crowds.

Would be interested to know who your uncle used timber, think we may have to go for a bigger company to advertise, bit late this year though.

Any website suggestions, for a late advert?
    thanks again

£2500 for a 2 day wedding for 100+ guests, all in.
People still tell us what an amazing day(s) it was, all it takes is hard work and some creativity and getting your mates to help out, instead of waste their money on pointless wedding gifts.
Amazes me how so many folk spend so much money on their wedding and moan about how they struggle to pay their mortgage, strange world we live in.

Yes you can, front wheels off and the rest goes in easy + loads of kit.

We just sold our mk4 estate and bought a mk4 diesel Gti, wish we had bought another estate, in fact we may be selling it and looking for a new estate!

Go for the 130bhp 6 speed if you can, ours gave back 55mpg all day and was a pleasure to drive. Ace cars!

North Coast is where its at…

I live near Bude and used to work here outdoor adventure
Brilliant bunch of guys to learn with, great beach and good kit available.
I also live next to this beach and another friend runs this surf school, equally as good and a very very nice quiet beach sandymouth

Also my house, 1.5 miles from the beach is available to rent ALL summer (holiday let).
New build, green oak frame, eco house (hate that term but it does describe it well) with massive garden, surrounded by countryside and sea views… What more could you want ;)

Let me know if you want any info on any of the above, or i could point you in the right direction of some nice campsites. If you book lessons with OA or a similar company, try coasteering for a day too, bloody ace fun
    cheers
