I had a third of each of my big toe nails removed (the outside bit) and the nail bed nuked with phenol.

    Ridiculously good decision.

    Do it!

as long as folks are riding bikes and enjoying themselves, that is the main thing, but it is a real shame when there is the potential for someone to be put off a fantastic past-time/thingy-wotsit by wearing the wrong kit and suffering like a dog on climbs or mauling a heavy All mountain rig around a more mellow trail and then ultimately giving it up as far to hard.

    This is very well put.

Kinda agree with OP. The full on DH setup, trooper armour and then crawling round can be quite funny. Mostly because of how seriously they seem to take it themselves. This is the funny bit for me. A bit like the spoilt kid at school going for a kick around in the park in full Man United kit including socks, shinnies and headband.

Each to their own. I’m sure they probably find me hacking around terribly on my Decathlon special just as entertaining. If they can see through the mirrored goggles……!

There’s still a god awful one on the M61. It’s like stepping back in time to the ’80s. Hateful place!

No, not really. I think it clearly relates to the specialist training schedule, recovery and mobility work he needs to in order to play. It’s a fair point, Ferdinand can’t train in the same way as the rest of the squad and this needs to be considered with England. Easier if you’re playing for a club where you don’t have to do as much tactical stuff and can just concentrate on preparing yourself as well as poss. England play relatively infrequently and so need to train together a lot to try and emulate the same familiarity. Ferdinand simply can’t do this AND play.

By them from tm lewin / charles tyrwhitt and take them to a good alterations place to have them darted. Stitches in Manchester are awesome for this.

Had one as a hire car once. Understeer was alarming especially if you needed to turn sharply to avoid something.

Didn’t break in the week I had it….!

Raw defrosted from frozen at the end. “Fresh” raw prawns are just ones that have been frozen for shipping and then defrosted for display in the shop. Defrost yourself = fresher.

Although to be honest in a thai curry I’d struggle to tell between raw and ready cooked… Just don’t cook/reheat them for too long to avoid the rubberyness.

Ha, brilliant. Why ask the question if you ignore the majority of the response?

Why is being the top bidder “dirty tactics”? Madness!

Always annoying to be outbid at the last moment, but if you hadn’t put in your max bid then you can’t complain???

If he’s not paid for it then take the computer from him. It’s a very clear indication that you get what you work/pay for.

If he insists on doing the bare minimum to get on then give him the bare minimum back.

I don’t think there’s too much room for improvement on ereaders screens and so my Kindle is going to go on until it breaks.

Agreed that the screens are way better than LCD types for reading on. Way better.

Starting strength / strong lifts are great.

    But.

For god’s sake make sure you do a bit of work on technique!

Have a look at Wendler 5 3 1 as a programme. It’s progressive, builds in recovery and you can vary your assistance exercises to keep it interesting. Just keep on moving the core 4 lifts up. I use an online calculator to set up my work every 4 weeks.

Edit : real world strength is moved on nicely in the gym “banging weights”

I had a similar situation recently. 50 quid eBay special with mudguards locked to a lamppost outside the house / station. Wasn’t bothered if it was nicked and nobody was bothered to nick it.

Definitely saved time and I occasionally doused moving bits (of the bike) with some spray 3 in 1 oil for maintenance. Did a year no problem. Lots of jealous looks as I scooted past fellow commuters who were walking.

I was a reasonably heavy social drinker and enjoyed it. Unfortunately it was causing to feel extremely grumpy for up to 10 days afterwards…. Not good.

So I decided to stop and to help me I read this book.

Very cheesy, but extremely effective. One of the things in the book is to recommend it to others. So there we are.

No booze for 18 months and I don’t miss it. I’ve decided not to drink rather than “giving something up”.

Good luck with whatever you do.

Massage does help. Either foam roll or just go to a physio and pays yours monies. Well worth it.

Exercise makes you weaker. Exercise followed by good nutrition and rest makes you far stronger.

Love Choo Choo Training, but just too early learning centre. Damn it.

Big Wheel has been done, shame, good one.

e and i prefixs are a bit bandwagon and will date quickly imo.

Shine has been done to death as well, but would have been good with a Manc accent.

Also like Chapeau but anything that needs spelling is doomed.

Tenester, not bad, what does it mean?

I think a public forum is an excellent place to create and share new ideas Andy.

I like Sentient but feel one would spend the entire time spelling it over the phone!

    sorry chaps.

I quite like Scientia but it comes across (unsuprisingly) as more scientific than sales/training/employment. Good, but not quite there.

experientia docet is a bit too wordy/academic I think.

    “Singletrack” would have been good!

Colin is perfect apart from the originality side of things. I’ll put iColin on the long list.

Some kind of provenance would also be good so it can be explained where it came from. Eg, Google comes from Googol which is a massive number – perfect for something searching the entire internet.

Maybe a word in a non mainstream foreign language (STW loves a niche) would work well….

I’m not sure the OP was being serious and I definitely wasn’t.

I’m not sure whether you’re playing along or not getting it MrK?!

edit: Also, don’t pay the fine. They’re only interested in suckers paying up quickly and have no ability or desire to chase beyond a succession of letters.

I’m 32 and don’t want to have children. If I were in your situation I’d be gutted.

You need to explain to her how you feel. This isn’t a time for being polite and burying your head in the sand. The “you’ll understand when you have kids” line is one of the most patronising pieces of advice in history.

There’s very little they can do apart from give you a bad reference. I’d advise saying that you need to finish immediately and negotiate towards working until Friday + good reference.

Make them persuade you to stay for a few extra days.

Quick email/call to your boss about the dress code. It’s a perfectly valid question. As that manager I would be more concerned that you hadn’t thought to ask and just guessed. Give ’em a call.

Don’t fret the p46. Option 1 is technically correct but the world won’t end if you select option 2. In fact to keep things simple I might just do that. It’s 3 weekends and the difference in tax will sort itself out in time.

I’ve got a similar problem. Best solution is to add the £13 it costs for jeans to be taken in by a quality alterations place. Buy ones that fit legs/bum and then get the waist sorted.

I tried them but didn’t get on with them 100%. I wasn’t a fan of the material in between my toes and also that my toes weren’t all the same length as the little pockets for them. Also they felt rounded at the bottom of my feet rather than trainers that project out slightly with an edge to them. This meant they didn’t feel stable to me.

I now have a pair of New Balance Minimus MT10 and they are brilliant. More secure on the foot. The sole is a Vibram one but it’s a bit thicker so you don’t feel every stone, but retains the barefoot feel. They also have a 4mm drop from heel to foot which feels more comfortable to me.

All in all they are a VERY minimal trainer rather than a total barefoot effort and felt far better for it. You still need to forefoot strike, etc, and they are brilliant for weight lifting on top of that. They also don’t look weird/try hard.

I did enjoy a massive fatty at work telling me that diet drinks are worse for you than the full fat Coke she was chugging.

You keep drinking yours petal, I’ll keep drinking mine!

They did a study on aspartame once with rats. It did cause cancer but I the amounts given were spectacularly high and would have provoked similar results for many other ‘safe’ food additives or even ingredients.
