    This

Not cheap, but very packable and very light.

Cracking day here as well at the Marin Trail.

Explored some of the FP’s in the area and found an excellent path that cuts out one of the fire road descents. Steep, slippy rooty tooty. Found a couple of stunning viewpoints, eat pork pies, no mechanicals and had post ride beers. All in the sunshine. Mint!

I’ve used Time Atac’s for a number of years after developing sore knees on spd’s and never found them to be fragile in any way. They helped cure my sore knees but I guess every case is different.

God replied wisely, “Wait until you see the lazy, work-shy, thieving, bin dipping, piss stained shell suit wearin, granny stabbing, crack dealing bastards I’m putting next to them in Merseyside.”

Had the same problem a couple of weeks ago, but wanted to connect them to Tech 3 levers. Nowhere has them in stock and £8.99 for a nut n bolt!!! Ended up sending the shifter back.

Will keep an eye out too. We spend a lot of time around there and near the meadows.

Toyed with the idea of joining Binners for a tour de Ramsbottom but wasn’t sure what state his bike would be in so headed to Dyfi Forest for some trail exploration. Found some great new off-piste bits and pieces, just a shame those bloody forest road climbs are soooooo loooong.

I’m currently running the Race Matrix pads (rear) from uberbikes and am not impressed in the slightest despite bedding them in as per recommended. They seemed okay for the first couple of rides but now have no power whatsoever. The Superstar Sintered pads (front) still feel nice and sharp even after a week in the Alps.

St Luc/Chandolin and Vercorin/Chalais has it’s lifts open mid-September. There’s easily a weeks worth of singletrack riding including nadgery content. Let me know if you need any route ideas.

Aye, I got mine though vision express for a set of Racing Jacket + lenses. You’ll need to enquire as some frames are very limited depending on your prescription. Expensive – yes, but well worth it.

Head out to Adlington – Pott Shrigley then over the Tops to Kettleshulme – Whaley Bridge then back via the A6.

I’m going to see how I feel after Sundays ride but probably going to make it.

Binners – What spares should I bring for you this week? Headset? Cranks?

Thanks jamba. We’d already heard but didn’t bother last year so may give it a go this time. BV do days guiding but just trying to pin down a date and cost with them. TBH, I think we’ll do self-guided.

What’s the other firm chakaping? Bike Verbiers’ communication dept. is a little delayed.

We’re 2 hours away from both and will be riding the lesser known stuff around Grimentz and St Luc, including The Brazilian from Col Du Cou and some nadgery local stuff. Verbier sounds like the one.

Bought my reverb from Germany just over a year ago and it had a slow air leak right out of the box, which took a month or so to locate. It’s just gone back again under warranty as it’s started to bounce and lose some height (1″) when sat on. When these work they are the mutz.

Fruita is great. I’ve been there twice and pretty much did the same both times (Part of a Moab/Gunnison road trip).

As above, the 18 road trails area (Edge loop I think is the biggie here) is great for just stitching bits together and generally getting your eye in. Stunning scenery. Kokopelli side for the harder stuff. One of my favourite bits of singletrack anywhere is the ‘Moore Fun’ section (ridden west to east). Get yourself a copy of this.

I think we spent 2 days in Fruita before driving to Moab, which is only half a days drive and has way more to offer. Having said this, I was there nearly 10 years ago. I’d ask at the bike shop there ‘Over The Edge’ for info too.

It’s all about hedging your bets. I’ve sliced the sidewall on a DH dual-ply Minion and the tyre still held out for the rest of the week. Some of the speeds you could potentially be hitting, I wouldn’t risk it.

I recently split the sidewall on a HD snakeskin at Cwm Rhaeadr so wouldn’t be too confident of these in proper mountains.

Expect an ever present bearing wobble to rapidly develop into something more significant. Whilst a fundamental transmission component will have a catastrophic failure on his first singletrack climb as gears get mashed whilst shifting down an entire cassette on one motion. The seeds of an early bath at the pub will already be germinating in his mind and I reckon he’ll be sinking his first frothy pint of Nelson within an hour of setting off. I’ll be disappointed if there isn’t a filtered picture of his lager amongst a Greggs infused back-drop when I get back from my lunch. Not that i’m jealous or owt. 😉

Our has been attacked twice by Pitbull type dogs needing surgery both times. He steers clear of these now and is even wary of most big dogs, but absolutely loves people and kids – they’re the easiest to pinch food from.

If a tree falls in the woods and no one is around to hear it, does it still make sound?

i.e. If Binners’ bike breaks and no one is around to witness this, does a flounce still occur? 😉

I’m up for learning some of the ‘hidden’ Delamere trails if anyone is up for guiding one evening? I’ve done the perimeter loop but heard there was more.

STS – I recently spent a full day exploring some Dyfi trails. I’ve a cracking 29 miler on .gpx if you’re interested. It has a lot of the Enduro descents including the World Cup one and finishes on the Climach-x descent. E-mail me if you need any more info.
