I corner with my outside foot down, core as upright as possible and bike cranked over like on the Aaron Gwin tutorial video, on my brompton, in central London. I make schralping noises if I’m really getting into it.

Haven’t been for years, but try and get a table in Los Caracoles on one of the back streets off Placa Reial. Its only got wood fired ovens, you can see the waiters whith wheel barrows in the morning taking all the wood in.

I bought a load of the kevlar ones on recommendation on here when they were on offer. Got a rear set in 2 bikes now, one sram, one shimano and they’re fine. Can’t tell much if any difference from oem

Do like the Saracens, love my ariel but wouldn’t buy a Shimano bike either. Can we have a review of that new Mantra mullet with a 36 on the front please? Looks mega

I’ve got a front bag on mine. They’re very light on the front anyway, not sure I’d want more weight over the back.
Mine is a brompton bag, can’t remember which one, but its abused daily and has been for years, its actually outlasted one Brompton. A friend at work just has the aluminium frame and ties his briefcase to that.

Can’t help on that, but I just replaced my DUB BB for £15 from Alpkit’s ebay store. Didn’t get much milage out of mine either, but for £15 I don’t mind.

My hello dave is a beast. Good spec for the money. As others have said, 2.6 in the rear and it actually feels like it has a small bit of rear travel. Brilliant bike

I like this game, always wonder what I’d buy if I won the dreambike 8k prize. Chops and changes, but currently – Evil the Wreckoning- Deviate, any – the Hope one and slightly more left feild, I think the Niner rip RDO frame is gorgeous. It’ll be different next week…

Just to be contrary, I really don’t think of my Trek as a plow type bike. I’m 5’10” on a medium so maybe that has something to do with it? One of my other bikes is a hello dave, that’s definitely something to do with it. I rode it at FOD afew weeks ago and thought it was great there.
One of the new (to me) sections was, I think, TNT, and it was almost full lock in a couple of places. The trek didn’t feel like a boat, my mate struggled more, on a large Mondraker admittedly.
It also really like it at one of my locals, Twisted Oaks, it’s so stable in the (minimal) air.

The type of foundation is largely down to what building control will accept. I’d start with a chat to them, my local office is really helpful. Once you have an idea what you need you can start working out what it will cost a groundwork firm by getting local quotes for muck away/concrete etc. Use that to information to get a rough idea then get some quotes.

I’ve had the Leatt ones on your list for about a year. I bought about 5 pairs to try from CRC when I got them and they felt the most comfortable. Still happy with them and they’ve saved my knees a couple of times.

I have the culvert mids which look to have the same Michelin sole and can reposition my feet much easier than freeriders. They’re still grippy enough though, pretty goldilocks to be fair.
Size wise, they’re the same as my 5 10’s, just a bit narrower.
    Bargain for that money

I’ve got a brompton, Terns do look more robust but not tried one. The btwin tilt seems to get good reviews and is pretty cheap

Just bought the wife a Trek rail from them. Was nearly £1400 off the list price. Had my doubts, but they were brilliant.

Off track slightly but, I had a bearing disintegrate on a 4 bar horst. I bought a blind bearing puller from Bearingpro tool company, pulled it out no problem. Emailed him the internal diameter of the outer race and he sent the correct puller. Safer than a dremel if anyone gets stuck with the same problem.

Think Rob on the emtb forum said Fox actually have different internals for a different tune. Rockshox is literally a sticker. He did post a diagram to demonstrate, but I’m too thick to find find/post it.

Another one for Bearingprotools, had a bearing fall apart, emailed him the dims and they sent the right size blind puller. Really helpful

Ordered several pairs to try from CRC when I got my last pair. Kept the Leatt’s, goy big tree trunk legs and they were the most comfortable for me.
Well vented for the summer too. Leatt logo looks like recycling badge is the only downside….

Got mine as an ex hire from Beics Brenin, can’t be far from you? I’m a bit of a suspension ludite, if it goes up and down I’m happy. I’ve got performance elite both ends on the normal bike so I’ve got a comparison, and the fancy stuff is a bit wasted on me.
I use mine the way you intend, normal bike Saturday, easy on the eeb/hung over Sunday or big days exploring. The 35 is fine for that, I think.

I bought a Rail 5 second hand last summer. Really like it, might upgrade the fork to something a bit more beefy, biketart have Domains for £315 at the moment. Not had any issues with the 35 TBH, though Snowden might overwhelm it.

It’s a pretty basic spec but I’m the limit most of the time.
I’ve ridden it locally- woods etc (Danbury) Flyup 417, Twisted oaks and Surrey Hills, its been fine for all that
Just got one for the wife, delivery in a week or so, have a look on Monster Mtb, just paid £3600 for hers brand new with the 625wh battery, bloody bargain.

Thanks all, tried one I found in the local shop. All fitted OK, thought I’d cracked it, the axle thread was a different pitch so foiled at the last hurdle.
Good shout for the nukeproof, I’ll see if I can get one of those to try while I wait for the Trek original.

I have 2.6 DHR/Rekon in the summer, just swapped to MM/Hanz dampf for the winter on my Dave. The Mary is a dirt cheap bike park one but seems OK. Your doing the right thing binning those panaracers. If it’s not too late you could pay to upgrade to Hutchinson griffus when I ordered mine. Heard they’re pretty good, whish I’d done it.

The bikes are great, the customer service isn’t. Been waiting over 12 weeks for a new warranty replacement frame.

Now they’re trying to tell me they’ll have to give me a different colour, only the main frame being replaced, so it’ll look like a parts bin special.

Not happy really, they’re supposed to be premium, the prices certainly are.

Been in Civils pretty much since leaving school, 27 odd years ago. Worked for some of the UK’s biggest firms on infrastructure projects.
Some are a bit of a meat grinder, but reading between the lines, does yours rhym with ‘Grace’?

Thanks to the OP, I ordered a set of the DHX enduro wheels on the 31st, last Monday, and still haven’t received them yet.
Not worried if others are still waiting, bit worried if everyone else has been receiving theirs and it’s just me.

Maiden for me, bigger body of great work in my opinion. Only really loved the Painkiller album from ‘Priest

Agree with all the above, frame design and tyre choice have as much/more influence than the material.

Hardtail Party on YouTube has done this comparison a few times, think he did the big Al v Blue pig. Really good channel for all things Hardtail, unsurprisingly….

I’ve just bought an ex hire bike Trek rail. Got 3 months warranty on the electrics.
I didn’t think bosch reliability was a big issue? Maybe I’m wrong.
I did research the cost of a full motor rebuild at £350 before I bought though.
Expensive, but not the end of the world.
I hired one of the Whytes from FOD in March, great bike, they said they sell them around September, and they transfer the remainder of the warranty I think.

    Twisted Oaks!

Has an xc loop and loads of jump lines, dual slalom 4x track etc. Was convinced I’d hate it. Loved it and am a signed up member now.

I live about an hour away in essex and consider it well worth the trip.

    Resin fixings like this? –

    https://www.fischer.co.uk/en-gb/products/chemical-fixings/injection-mortar/injection-mortar-fis-v-plus

It will never pull out, grout in some some stud bar, just drill to 32mm, they’ll have to take the planter and slabs with them

I absolutely love my Dave, read loads of good stuff people had posted on here and haven’t regretted it. I regularly do 20 mile xc loops on it and used it for Twisted Oaks yesterday.

It’s a pretty normal bike despite the freak show geometry, the length of it is probably its most noticable difference from more conservative bikes for me. It rails berms and longer corners but is a bit of a bus in switchbacks.

I’m 5’10” on a large and it’s bang on for me. My full suss hardly gets a look in lately.

They’re fine if done properly, eg sealed, screwed down airtight lid. And, as others say, it has permission if it’s a shared sewer build over. Nearly every commercial building of any size has them, due to the fact it isn’t possible to get all the chambers outside the footprint of the building.
