    Chris Hoy was awesome.

Why are Sky sponsoring Team GB, but not showing any of it?

Go with the Candys as the Eggbeaters tend to fall apart unless you maintain a strict maintenence schedule

Don't agree, mine have been on for 3 years, with an occasional spray of oil and one squirt of grease. Which now means I have "Murray Walker'ed" myself and one will fall apart tomorrow, bugger………..

Had physio, acupuncture, drugs (including morphine) even a TENS machine for a while, none worked. Then had a proper diagnosis, a bulging disc removed and returned back to normal.
I laid on the floor a lot, raised knees towards the chest keeping feet flat on the floor, then leaned knees (locked together) to either side slowly and under control. This put a twist on the spine and relieved the pain sometimes, worked for me but try at your peril!
Go see you GP and try to get the cause sorted rather than the symptoms, although it took 3 years for me to get it diagnosed/operated on, totally sympathise with your plight, good luck.

Chilli, garlic bread, red wine and an England victory over France. Well at least the first 3 ingredients are probable!

    wormhole,

Agree totally, just can bring myself to switch to Radio2 to carry on listening to Simon Mayo though, now have to do without.

(Radio 2 = middle age, cardigans, slippers etc) but then that is what I think and I'm always wrong……….

MrCrushrider deuter ones are very good.

+1 on that and they are easier to clean/fill

A decent camera would be good, the scenery and wildlife is fantastic, but there are only so many penguin photos you should take!

I know a few balloon pilots, they are poor though, so no scotch, normally they carry a few bottles of wine as a peace offering.

I'd take a geared hard-tail if possible, you'll bog down a full suss and spend ages cleaning it, especially as you hit the heights of winter!!
Enjoy while you can, I'm off to hot/sunny place for 6 months, I won't be taking my bike……….

Been there, done that, got the t-shirt, going back in a few months, I know what it is like. You do not, I feel sorry that this is all you can get upset about, with what is going on in the world. Still I suppose that is what free-speech is all about, allowing those to rant from an ill-informed position………………..

Now, I don't mind the lads shooting the brain off the Taliban or chop them to pieces etc .

But get this … why shot/killed a defenseless dog because one of you got bitten by it?

Because the vast majority have rabies, mange and more worms that a fishing tackle shop. Funny how some get so upset about the death of an animal, but a human life………….

Try posting on this http://www.pprune.org/tech-log-15/%5B/url%5D, may have to ask them nicely and be prepared for some harsh banter.

but I do have something to say as I'm interested in wesbite design and do it all the time, and as for being nice, I'd rather be useful, and uncritical praise isn't.

Any chance of solving third world debt and a cure for AIDS, that is once you have got off your high horse, c0ck……………………..

the difference being that that legacy code was written in 1999. If I were starting from new it would be different

Take no notice, at least you have gone to the effort to do something, perhaps I should pull my finger out and do a similar thing for Limburg.

Check the post above, if it still does not work, with the bolt lose, give the outer section a little squeeze with a pair of mole grips, worked for me. Remember don't over-tighten the bolt when you do it up, been there done that, had to buy a new bolt, doh.

Good pointer, I'll use it next time I am up there on an away day from the Dutch Alps (Limburg), cheers.

Just bought a Olympus Mju Tough 3000, seems fairly robust and intuitive to use, I'll see if it works this weekend, as long as it does not snow again……….

    flatfish +1,
I believe there where more BBC staff at the Winter Olympics than Team GB members. The same arguement should also apply to the news, why does a reporter have to be stood outside a building telling us what happened, why couldn't they do it from the studio and save the travel cost's.

I believe Clarkson's programmes are very lucratiuve and syndicated all over the world, can't imagine that anyone globally would want to watch/listen to Woss, i would imagine that Clarkson's fee is relativly good value in comparison.

Daughter about 3 years old in supermarket blurts out "Daddy, that man is a big fat lardy" just as the piped music stopped and we were the only other ones in the aisle. The bloke was a walking wheelie-bin though, so she was right…………. :D

Got 2 of them for my kids to use when they are away at school, had them for over a year now, one without problems, on the other one the screen died. Apparently it is a known problem with the wide-screen Acer's, that if you are not careful opening the screen, you can kill it, if you pull it open from a corner the LCD screen does not like it and dies. A quick internet search found an excellent company who supplied a replacement a day or two later, an hour later the thing was restored to working order. The moral of the story is, open the screen from the middle and not the corner, otherwise no problems and would probably buy one again.

Barbara Walters, of Television's 20/20, did a story on gender roles in Kabul , Afghanistan
several years before the Afghan conflict.

She noted that women customarily walked five paces behind their husbands.

She recently returned to Kabul and observed that women still walk behind their husbands.

From Ms. Walters' vantage point, despite the overthrow of the oppressive Taliban regime,
the women walk even further back behind their husbands, and seem appear happy to maintain the old custom.

Ms . Walters approached one of the Afghani women and asked,
'Why do you continue with an old custom that you once tried so desperately to change?'

The woman looked Ms. Walters straight in the eyes, and without hesitation said, 'Land Mines.'

    Shiny tape

Blagged from work some of this 3M tape to use as a chain-stay protector on my road bike as nothing else suitable was around at the time, that was over 20 years ago and it is still as good as the day it was put on (minus a few chain scars), did think about a frame re-spray a few years ago, but don't think I would be able to get the tape off. Not sure what glue it is, but it is stronger than anything else I have come across.

Done just over 200miles in a day on a road bike with a chain gang from Chester to Angelsey and back in my youth. Couldn't imagine trying to do it now, couldn't image having to do it on my own, need others around you to share the work/pain etc. Suggest you start with some circular shorter runs around your home, that way you can bang out and head home if it all gets too much. Hats off to you if you manage it.

Saw in one of the MTB mags recently a rider tip, guy put some spare spokes in his seat post and used a wine bottle cork to stop them falling out. Suppose they would not add weight and would have allowed you to ride home with both brakes, supposing you had a spoke key with you……..

Hitting the top of the descent slightly quicker than my ability could match, then spending the best part of last year with a cast on my arm.

Pressing "Send" on an e-mail to a Boss (now former).
Why doesn't Outlook have a "Are your really sure" and a "Are you really, really sure" button?

Why don't you take at least one with you?

It is not the sort of place you want to be riding a bike, trust me :D
