I wouldn’t go out of my way to be aggressive to other road users unless they had done something that was potentially dangerous but I would quickly calm down and become more rational – such is human nature.

I think it’s certainly not a stance the welsh cycling president should take and propose.

I take it you climb already? if so, I wouldn’t part with any money for a guide. I’d post a partner wanted ad on ukclimbing and just mention your experience.

do you mean the lane we all drive in when not overtaking?

yes, wrong usage of the synonym. I meant I was over taking a car in the ‘slow’ lane and Honda chav sneeked through the gap I was closing.

TBH you can learn a lot of what is covered in these courses in the UK for a fraction of the cost. If you ask around it will cost you nothing more than the fuel to get to scotland and a couple of beers 😉

I heard facing and chasing was the preserve of weight weenies who are concerned about having to replace prematurely worn bearings?

I never faced my BB or HS and I have the original bearings in both over 12 months later and I also hear that’s pretty good going for a BB!

even still, your Credit card should protect you under Sec. 75 consumer credit act.

So if the honda driver undertook you why hadnt you pulled in behind the first car and into the inside lane and let honda boy past, also how would you see thered light on the exit slip, if you where blocking the middle lane

I was in the process of over taking a car in the granny lane. I could see the top of the slip because I hadn’t passed it when the Honda boy got to the top of it – he was speeding (well in excess of 90 mph when he passed me!)

if they have a V shaped tread pattern and the proper way to mount them (as per the arrow of direction on the side wall) says the point of the V should point forwards, it kinda makes sense and when the tyre is in contact with the floor the open end of the V is pointing forwards. if you turn it around the opposite is true (as if you needed me to tell you that) and traction will decrease.

N.B. this theory is not corroborated by any empirical study into the friction coefficent of said tyres and thus makes me immune from any forum flaming for thinking I know anything about tyres and their grip when used not as directed by the manufacturer.

What I like best about this joke is that the “B” doesn’t actually stand for anything, Mandelbrot made it up in order to sound more interesting.

you would have try harder than that to make a mathematician interesting!

it isnt a bike until you have added all the parts that make it rideable and I doubt that you will be able to find all the components you need that are british made.

There are things we do well and there are things other countries do well and being patriotic about british manufacturing is one thing but when it comes down to quality you have to sometimes go elsewhere!

The problem for the applicant is that there is no sure way of knowing (unless you know someone on the panel) how many people the recruiter has to screen and if after 50, 100, 200 CV’s he comes across an 8 page CV, I highly doubt he’ll read past the first pages.

3 pages MAX, Covering letter with all other relevant info (no more than one side of A4) is more than enough to get an interview. The interview is where you can elaborate on your acheivements highlighted in you CV hence the CV is just to whet their appetite.

I just recruited for a role that saw anything from one- to 8-page CVs. Wafflers and those that put irrelevant stuff went in the bin. Those who used the space well and included only stuff that was tailored to what I was looking for were interviewed.

Doesn’t matter how much paper you use: if it’s relevant, they’ll read it.

How many candidates were you filtering out?

As an applicant you have to assume the recruiter has limited time to read your CV and you should do you best to make it as easy to read as possible. Tailor it to the post always, make it personal and don’t include cliches such as ‘ i’m a self-starting individual’ or ‘I work well on my own or as part of a team’ etc etc. give facts and figures of acheivements and explain any gaps in employment.

anything you can’t fit into your CV that you feel is relevant, include it in a covering letter (you should always include a covering letter)!

To suggest someone one black sounds white if they were on the radio is a stupid thing to say at best and racist at worst.

Does it make me a racist that I once thought Michael Macdonald was black?

    highclimber

Typical response to an intelligent person trying to answer a few questions on a subject byond their remit is to brand them a racist for them being misunderstood.

    highclimber

I don’t think he was implying that black people are somehow worse citizens but was referring to the differeing cultures that white and black people have and how some white people are taking on a more black culture.
