I thought it was more a tongue-in-cheek site along the lines of Roger’s Profanisaurus but not as funny

It would appear there is a lot of interest in the property and it’s going to a sealed bid process. Quite annoyed at the estate agent as we were first to put an offer in and they didn’t contact us to let us know anything. It took two calls to them to finally find out that they were going to sealed bids. Quite annoying but all we can do now is make a strong bid based on what we know already.

any tips for sealed bidding will be much appreciated!

While there is not doubting that some of the ‘builders’ featured are genuine crooks who deserve nothing but prison and and a hefty fine, I can’t get over the fact that someone (the aggrieved) would just pass thousands of pounds over to someone just like that.

dons Daily Mail hat for a momentif it wasn’t for these people I don’t think there would be that many opportunistic cowboys around takes of Daily Mail hat

highclimber

not really as it’s not actually free as you have had all your money taken gave all your money to a stranger so in effect you have paid for it

it’s always the same – someone hires a builder etc after seeing an ad in the newspaper/yellow pages, doesn’t get a few quotes from recommended builders for the work, ‘builder’ comes round and gets them to hand over funds for materials etc for which they will have credit for with their trade outlet, builder then starts work, doesn’t finish, stops answering their phone after extorting yet more money for work not done. hirer calls watchdog/domonic littlewood/rogue traders (delete appropriate) to complain about said builder and gets a free kitchen, conservatory, loft conversion (delete appropriate).

i’m more annoyed that they are in direct contravention of The highway code, sec. 66,c:

never ride more than two abreast, and ride in single file on narrow or busy roads and when riding round bends

Goat traps are good for getting goats. I have never seen what one looks like but I am reliably informed that it is true.

Hands up if any of you have spent more than a months wages (in total) to put each of your bikes together?

At the time, I spent about 50% of a months salary putting together my P7 (about £600). 2010 frame with (used) xt cranks, slx gearing and fox floats. It does what I asked of it and didn’t break the bank.

my point is (as echoed by others): if people are willing to pay for a fully built up bike from a shop, be prepared to pay through the nose for it. A £6k+ bike is not intrinsically worth that much but there are gear freaks who love having the newest, most expensivest, shinyest thing they can get hold of and this is why we see these monstrosities plagueing our magazines and webpages.

Is that some “own brand” salad cream on the right of the lower shelf?

What have you got against Heinz? Racist.

no, it is most definitely Heinz salad cream, anything else is just crap. as for beans, I prefer the taste of Branston: they are less watery, but now the smell that remains in the cupbord is putting me off them rather rapidly!

BTW, I don’t have hellmans mayo either. am I going to hell?

just make sure you pay on credit card so if the travel provider goes bump you can claim it back!

~I always book last minute trips as it’s much cheaper genrally to do so, especially for two. not so much for families. sometimes it can be cheaper to do the leg work your self than booking a package but beware you don’t get as much protection than a package deal. check tripadvisor.com for an insight to the accom before you commit, though I wouldn’t take everything you read on there as gospel, more as a guide.

I’m sure the amount of money tourism of this sort brings in offsets some of the short-term problems a few inconsiderate men cause.

I phoned Premier Foods and they have explained that this sometimes happens to four-packs. When in transport the tins get bashed together and sometimes one or more tins can be punctured but reseal and bacterial gasses build up until BOOM-SPLAT.

The guy was very apologetic and said he would send some reimbursement and I didn’t need to send any evidence!
He was also fairly confident that the other tins will be fine to consume. I think I’ll just get some new ones!
it still smells even after being Mr Muscled…TWICE!

He could put a speedo on and achieve 95% nakedness

or a G-string for c.99% nakedness.

seriously, how can you justify sending a stubborn naturist to jail for being naked for 2 years. some people get less for ‘good behaviour’ on a rape charge these days!

The Police and Courts have a magical system whereby they use Royal Mail to send out legal documents, and don’t have to prove you received them for you to be bound by their contents. This is despite Royal Mail admitting to losing millions of letters every year. You couldn’t make it up

you could but I doubt anyone would believe it!

although you can’t prove you never got one there could probably be a way out of it if they can’t prove the notice was sent e.g. tracking number etc.

I must have been out when it went as I think I would have heard it pop looking at the carnage. I think it’s been like that for a few days as there are a few dessicated haricots dotted around the cupboard and it smells like cheese and baby sick after being left in a cupboard for a day or two.

I have a 2.0 TDCi Mondeo estate(07 plate) has done 75k bought last year for £7000 and has served me well so far. just serviced it (myself) for under £75 inc fuel and oil filter, pollen filter and air filter. I can fit three bikes and three people with kit for a weekend riding, does 50MPG without trying and pulls like a shire horse on steroids.

I think you might be best persuing this via the SOGA (sales of goods act). if you are using a product and it fails thru appropriate usage and not through mis-use then I think you would have a claim against vendor (depending how old the product is). you have more protection within the first 6 months of purchase but even after this period a product should last a REASONABLE amount of time and certainly shouldn’t spill your very expensive bikes all over the queen’s highway!

If the retailer or manufacturer’s warranty has run out, the shop is often quick to say there is nothing they can do before attempting to sell you an extended warranty. This is misleading. If you buy something which should last 7 years but breaks down after a year and a day, you can still claim it was of poor quality in reference to the durability aspect.

This reminds me of a time we found a file marked ‘private’ on a mate’s dad’s computer…
It contained pictures of his privates… very disturbing. Very disturbing indeed.

seen them before, have you?

sad times. the amature video of the incident doesn’t show much in the way of a reason as to why it went down.

condolences to the pilots family and friends.
