these people just want the whole park to themselves and want all the paths to be levelled off so they will be able to get their zimmer frames up. this just sterilises the whole experience for those who want a challenge and not just a crappy stone chipped walkway.

well, I said I would accept their offer and I would send them my address once money was tranferred

I got this pearler of an email back:

I was just about to make the payment when i had this little problem with the picking up,I got an email from my agent..i taught i included that in my previous email.he said he won’t come and pick up the item unless i pay him the agent commission fee first in order to be able to schedule a pick up time ,and my pick up agent head quarters is in the Nigeria and all commission payments made for pick up, from anywhere in the world is sent to their head quarters in the Nigeria and the only form of payments they accept is money gram money transfer and i tried to pay online but i will need a credit card which i didn’t bring along, and there is no post office(there is usually a money gram section in have to ask you to help me with the pick up fees, i will include the £400 they charged to pick it up and take it my home(1st class treatment), to the payments i will send through paypal. After i have made the payments and it has been confirmed by paypal, i will need you to help me send the £400 to my pick up agent through money gram money transfer, the western union money transfer can be made at a post office near to you, there is always a money gram agent in most post offices or online at http://www.moneygram.com .I will be making the payments shortly and will email you as soon as it has been done.

    That’s verbatim!

the PDNP (and other NPA’s) use a massive sledge hammer to crack a nut in their rampant path building/restoration:

if you want something other than the shite IKEA crap then you can generally get some good stuff at those reclaim places! we got a solid oak folding dining table for £45 from one plus a tenner for some chairs!

yeah, I don’t think that doc put the campaigners in a good light – just moany middle aged/OAP idealist nimbyists. the PDNP have been good on the whole by not banning outright but imposing sanctions, compromising.

all I am seeing is moany old people who want their own way though I by no means condone the actions of some moto riders, they seem to have a massive bee in their bonnet

I take it you haven’t been exposed to many such emails, HC?

Nah, first time for me, I have asked them to send me money first and I highly doubt I will give them the correct address

certainly a lot of NIMBYISM. asking those crossers to slow down when they were already going slow enough is just asking for conflict.

Some of the best singletrack sections are on footpaths. Now, I’m not going to stop doing singletrack because you say so as that will mean this site is pointless!

Yeah, I have gone for the Ebay route. Autotrader is rather expensive in comparison £41 (not the £45 I quoted) versus £8 insertion and £35 fixed fee with the opportunity to sell before auction closes and no fee if it doesn’t sell.

    highclimber

I’m looking for about £5000 though. i assume the fees are connected to the price it sells for?

surely its just some spacers and a new set of bearings which you should be able to get from any bearing engineers if you have the dimensions (i did this for my wheels) and the shims shouldn’t be too hard to get hold of either.

the problem with international posting is there is no real guarantee that they will get it, whatever way you send it. I wouldn’t send it.

most if not all providers will text you when your phone connects to the nearest network with a breakdown of call and text costs. it depends where in the world you are but I don’t think I’ve ever paid more than 50p for a text.

remember it’s free to recieve texts (many people think that its not for some reason) so tell your friends to txt instead of ring and leave you a voicemail which costs a FORTUNE!!

Normal service resumed for Q4 I expect, assuming Foxconn can stop all their employees from killing themselves due to overworking to support demand.

Apple won’t be that bothered (or that’s what they’ll have us believe) as there’s a lot of in-fighting over who’s broken who’s patents and Apple have just patented the way touch screen phones are unlocked. What impact this will have on current goings on is anyone’s guess, one thing is for sure: I don’t give two shites.

making pronouncements about “the unspoilt tranquility of the area”.

Nobody mentions anything about it being unspoiled.

    highclimber

They were going on about how tranquil it is there, right next to the mine, the big car park and the busy road. A lot of their argument wasn’t about protecting flora and fauna, but spoiling the ‘character’ of the area.

My point still stands, they weren’t saying the place is an unspoiled wilderness. there is a difference between unspoiled and tranquil and no one in their right mind would agree with the sentiment that Honister is unspoiled.

whne I was at uni, I went for a ‘trial’ shift in a night club. no mention of getting paid so I assumed I would be and so did ACAS wqhen I told them.

I recieved a cheque in the post for 6 hrs work 2 days after my complaint

you’ve answered your own question – ‘Wheel’ not ‘wheel and tyre’

    highclimber

Honister pass is not some unspoilt wilderness FFS.

nobody is saying that, not even the FOTLD! the fact is that there are sensitive and protected flora in the vacinity of the VF and sheep or no sheep, they need to be protected from further potential damage.

    here’s my 2 penneth:
He [Mark weir] seemed to be clinging on to the precedent set by the miners of an era before we knew any better.
As a comparison, just because we used to have Golly dolls on marmalade jars and called our coloured friends by a word we now class as offensive, doesn’t make it right to do the same now.

You cant do something potentially damaging just because you want to save a few jobs and create a bit of money. You certainly cannot do it just because you have been told you can’t or think you might not get the permission.

He knew full well that the Via Ferrata was illegal and potentially conservationally unsound and it was his flagrant disregard for the planning process and his own safety that made him appear like a know-it-all maverick with no respect for those who challenged his ideas.

… Why isn’t he an MP?

    because of this:

You know Peter Tatchell hardly has a pot to piss in. He’s a proper living saint (he’d hate that), lives alone in a tiny flat on a pretty grim estate in South London. Spends his whole time campaining for liberal causes and often finds time to stick up for the rights of people he should really despise

my top tip: never believe an estate agent when they ‘suggest’ prices of properties to you. they are working for the Vendor, not you.

offer what you think is a fair price and take into account EVERYTHING in your offer – Items that need attention in the house, Legal, surveys, moving etc.

the only really effective Risk assessment is a dynamic one being performed by the group leader. Even then it doesn’t preclude someone getting a puncture at 20mph and stoving into a tree as a result, culminating in an airlift to the A and E with a broken pelvis/Femur/Pride.

In short, unless you are acting as the ‘guide’ for the day, I would tell them to get knotted.

ofcourse she can, this thread probably explains why she has done it as well, dear me

    this^^

contracts of employment regardless of length will have a clause regarding the employees right to leave and the employers right to sack – its a two way street. if this isn’t in a contract and they want to leave and you point out they can’t, prepare for a tribunal!
