I donate quite a bit of my time and money by being a member of the local MRT. I put my loose change in whatever receptacle happens to be nearest. I never engage with door stepper or chuggers nor do I donate to friends doing 10k races for the reason that I frequently run 10k and it really isn’t that hard.

That’s an idiotic piece. Getting kidnapped is not an adventure, going over Niagara is a gamble not an adventure. The only one of the 3 stories that is an adventure is ‘No Picnic on Mount Kenya’.

The point is that not one of those stories required a sponsorship form and pledges from 3rd parties

I was initially struck with “I’m not paying for your adventure” rage until, in the last line she wrote “I’ve always wanted to do this and so am covering all the costs of the trip myself so everything donated will be going to charity”

This concept of paying for things yourself is lost on some people. I genuinely think some people believe that when you give a donation, every penny of it goes to the charity and that the trip they are going on is actually free!

People doing this are either stupid (they don’t realise what they are doing) or clever (in exploiting other’s good will/stupidity in funding these trips). Nobody ever does anything for themselves these days.

I read this earlier on – Open letter to self-proclaimed adventurers[/url].

Obviously a very damaged individual. this is a sad sad story and I don’t think has any bearing on the American gun laws – he probably would have killed just as many people if he was in a different country.

There appear to be many failings that lead to this incident, not least his mental state. Blaming it on the gun laws loses sight of this real issue.

So where did the OP get the code from?

Quite possibly. might get cancelled but worth a try – remember the Evans one, they honoured most people’s first orders (they honoured both my orders!)

It is called Poe’s law apparently and i would have fallen for it

Carding mill is £3.50 I think but the machine doesn’t give change. There’s a nice cafe there with toilets.

part our land part our neighbour’s. It crosses from the corner of our house, across the driveway up to our neighbour’s (they own the driveway but the trees affecting the lines are ours) and then continues up the boundary of the driveway and our land to the left.

A supermarket Whisky club where each member agrees to post out tiny sample tasters to each member, happy to post out some 18yo Glen Marnoch

I was thinking more along the lines of each of us buying each bottle…

Are you making it my public duty to drink a bottle of each? In the name of science?

Although it wouldn’t be very scientific due to the inherent subjectivity of human taste. we all need to club together and have a tasting party to agregate the individual results.

your biggest mistake was buying a berghaus freeflow rucksack for a winter sack. they are hard to pack effectively to maximixe space. get a bog standard sack – no frame, Ideally with ice axe loops and side entrance zip and a crampon pocket or a few straps to attach them to.

Not to mention the path ‘improvement’ works that have renedered it almost un-rideable up to Clogwyn Station from just past the halfway cafe.

I’ve got a scots pine tree with a dangerous branch hanging above the driveway to our neighbour’s. Its gonna have to wait til the wind dies before I get to make it safe.

If you intend on doing loads of cutting and it’s not too thick I’d spend a bit more and get a mitre chop saw.

Loose soft-cotton boxers here. The whole reason we’ve got a scrotum is so the heat can be regulated easy.

Mammut make good stuff still. I’d buy it if i wasn’t poor though some of their stylings/designs are a little garish mind you.

I prefer Montane – british company, good quality, relatively cheaper than most other brands.

Very nice for him, but what about all the other criminal gays that didn’t win the war.

I don’t think many other convicted gays killed themselves with a cyanide laced apple.

The Darwin Awards are claimed to be an annual collection of “people who kill themselves in really stupid ways, and in doing so, significantly improve the gene pool by eliminating themselves from the human race”

yes. though it depends how far out of warranty it is! i.e. I wouldn’t try to claim SoGA for a 10 year old CRT TV that’s broken down. I would, however claim SoGA for a 2 year old flat screen TV that had a 12 month warranty.

I’m dyscalculic so it’s arithmetic that I’m pretty bad at. Also bad at turning left on the bike and paying attention to the other half’s instructions i.e. I always get accused of not listening.
