You mean to tell me they didn’t tell you you were going to be ridiculed for sharing this information? shame on them!

Thought for the day really annoys me. it’s just a bunch of words spoken, by some religous person, in an order that doesn’t make much sense to my working class ears.

My experience is that you want to get the garage who sold you the car behind you

This. I wouldn’t go getting annoyed at the retailer about this but try to get them to see things from your perspective. It is highly unlikely the retailer sold you a pup and as such would probably try to help you get it sorted with the warranty co.

    Commencal Meta?

That was my first question when I looked at it!

They claim the ‘courior’ wants paying £400 to collect and ask you pay it. the ‘buyer’ sends you the details for the ‘courior’, which is actually their account and the buyer ‘pays’ you for this via Paypal only they don’t, they just send a fake confirmation email from paypal they’ve put together saying they’ve paid but if, like me, you have your PP account linked to your Gmail account and get the email to your Outlook account, you quickly realise that they haven’t sent anything of the sort.

Is it possible it got damaged in transit? if so get buyer to send it back and claim off the courior/RM.

I guided a group on the ‘challenge’ last year just because I was curious as to how the event was ran and about the type of people doing it. What did I glean from the ordeal (and it was an ordeal!)?

    1) I felt I was in the van more than walking – indeed I was.
    2) The people who were undertaking the challenge were genuinely trying something hard for them to raise money for a good cause.
    3) the company I was working for briefed all members about the problems surrounding the ‘challenge’ so they were fully aware of their impact.
    4) the itenary was such that there were no excessivly early departures through private properties causing disruption.
    5) I won’t be doing it again!

Unfortunately point 3 isn’t always done by other companies. Many individual fundraisers, not using a third party company, do not do any research into the ‘challenge’ and tend to cause more damage than they raise in sponsorship through erosion, pollution and noise etc.

Have fun either way but thought I would put a bit of an input into the debate. I don’t like the event, but I realise it does raise money for charities which is no bad thing and it provides an income to some people, like myself. There are better events to partake in and would love to see the end to the N3P.

UPDATE: we went for a walk around her favourite lake. I was going to do it on the way around but it was rather cold and blustery so I waited until we were on the way back to the car where we crossed a bridge. I told her I wanted to take a photo of the waterfall but pulled out a ring instead of my SLR.

    She said ‘yes’.

I took some champers with me too but she suggested we go home and drink it later! 8) I agreed.

In my opinion (I run gorge walking sessions for a centre in wales), the best gorges are in the lakes. I used to work for a company in the Lakes who run sessions in the river Esk which is the best gorge I’ve done although it is rather chilly!

I can get you the details for them as they have all the requisite insurance and AALA gubbins etc

I was walking below Crib Goch and around Pen Y Pass today. there not much snow left in great quantity but some larger patches higher up that were mostly broken where once it was plastered. it was favourably warm but quite windy making it feel a lot colder.

Steve, I have emailed you re. this weekend coming. .

How’s their navigation skills? finding the miners path off the glyders can be difficult in poor vis. When are you doing this? If you need an extra pair of hands I might be able to offer myself – any excuse to get out!

I have a self guided charity walk over tryfan, the glyders to penypass snowdon, cown the watkins and down to beddgelert, with some mountain novices

That’s a VERY long walk for novices! I was camping in the Moelwyns last night and it was very warm, extremely windy but completely devoid of any snow below 450m.

I had no intention of asking her dad – we don’t live in the early 1900’s now.

If I walk up to the top of my lane I can see Snowdon so I can keep you posted for the week ahead. I might even take a run up to halfway at some point too so i’ll post what it’s like.

there is still a bit of snow around, most of it slushy and slippy and definately not rideable. it is certainly walkable but I would probably take at least an axe just in case it freezes again or be prepared to turn back if I couldn’t progress.

ring not required unless she is old fashioned and sexist, in the end wait for her to ask you….

she’s neither though, I am quite poor and luckily she can’t wear gold so i’m not getting a traditional engagement ring. A haribo ring will suffice won’t it?

Trendy bars – Northern Quarter (around Tib Street)

Food – too many to mention but my favourite place is El Rincon Tapas bar behind Deansgate (St John St IIRC).

Places to visit – Cathedral, Imperial War museum, MOSI, John Rylands Library.

Lee quarry – you can make a day of it or just a few hours depending on how long you have or how much energy you have or both!
