Thanks for the link dirtyrider – I enjoyed that. The squirrel bashing thing is just nuts.

I’d say give it a decent chance.

Being tall, I rarely get to test bikes before buying. I bought a Kona Honzo (similar geometry to the Process 111) a few years ago and thought I’d made a big mistake. It took me a few months to realise I hadn’t, and just needed to be a bit more dynamic on the bike.

I then bought a Liteville 301 (slack, but rather short on reach) to replace my suspension bike and couldn’t get on with it – I gave it a good chance and changed various bits, but after having a long (reach) bike, it never felt right. I replaced it with a Process 111 and all’s good again.

For me, the longer reach/front centre gives me confidence. I ride mainly in the Surrey Hills/North Downs (plus annual Alps trip) if that makes any difference.

You could try undoing the little knurled collar on the valve stem a bit, and then try pushing the valve into the rim. If it lets air out it’s tubeless. Heal soon and enjoy you new bike.

I’m fairly sure it was a Portishead hoodie from the band’s website in the late 90’s.

The dropouts are on their way Sir. You can have them for nothing, glad they are of use to someone.

Callmetc – I’ve got a pair of dropouts from a 2009 Mount Vision, which I’m fairly sure will fit. I sold the bike ages ago, so you’re welcome to them. Email me your address and I’ll pop them in the post.

Which shock are you looking at Chakaing? I had the Monarch fail on my 111 about a month before my Alps trip last year. Sramtech didn’t have any replacements and it was touch and go if I’d get a new one in time. I spoke to TF Tuned, as I thought that I’d just buy a DB air (they had them in stock), but they advised against it as it wouldn’t suit the bike (I do weigh 90KGs though).

They reckoned that the Monarch was the best for the job, but they didn’t have any either. Luckily the warranty replacement did arrive.

I do find the Monarch a bit inconsistent and find the adjustment too coarse – I can only really run the rebound in one position. It’s a fun bike though!

After spending far too long watching the Daytona 24H last weekend (which was crazily close racing), I really should be doing something else, but……

I’ve had a couple of bikes where the chainstay got in the way of the ring spanner type, so now have a socket type tool made by X Tools.

I love Lemans – lots of stuff going on around the circuit, and with the Radio commentary its really easy to follow what’s going on.
BTCC is normally pretty good with some good support races (Ginetta Juniors is the best!).
Its also worth going to a big drag racing event – the speed/noise/violence of the top fuel and funny cars is amazing.
I find the Goodwood FOS rather dull (often get free tickets), but the Goodwood revival is the best event of the year racing wise – loads of F1/BTCC/LMP drivers racing amazing/light/powerful/low grip cars really hard.

I’ve got a Process 111 (the 29er one). It’s a great bike – really confidence inspiring, poppy and fun. One of things the Process range has been praised for is it’s geometry – the Precepts don’t share this.

I was out there this year, a week or so before the race, and rode some of the stages – you are going to have a lot of fun, there are some great trails!

I have a XL Process 111 and am 6’4″. A mate, who is maybe a little shorter, rides a XL 153 – both fit really well.

I had 2 weeks in the Alps this summer and there where only a couple of trails where I thought I’d like some more travel. I mainly ride Surrey Hills and North Downs and it handles anything (as big as I’m every likely to attempt), just fine.

I figured I’d buy a bike which best suited 95% of my riding. I did look at the 134, but though 111 would be a better match for my Honzo.

Lee and Herring’s Fist of Fun has recently been re-run on 4 extra at the mo’. It’s Not What You Know is good too, as is Tim Key’s Poetry Programme. Not Radio 4, but the Lee Herring at the Leicester Square Theatre Podcasts are very funny too.

Had the same thing as the OP. Tried the stretching and cream, but didn’t work. Stupidly it took me a few years to get around to seeing my GP about it (due to being embarrassed ). Had also looked at threads like this on the internet which had made me more worried about it! Anyway had a circumcision a couple of months ago (at 45).

It was fine – no real pain, just some discomfort until the stitches dissolved and the helmet became used to not having it’s little hat on. I was back on my bike within a month. Wished I’d got it sorted sooner.

Insurers will normally look to write off a vehicle if the repair cost exceed 60% of it’s value, so if your valuation is correct then you should be fine.

As said above, a decent bodyshop will be able to repair the van properly and will blend the colour into surrounding panels. If you are picky about your van, then going to a cheap (or the insures “approved repairer”) bodyshop may well be disappointing. We do a fair bit of rectification work following visits to “approved repairs” and it’s often easy to see a cheap repair.

In the unlikely event that it looks like they do want to write the van off and if you don’t want this to happen, then feel free to email me and I may be able to give advise.

I sometimes run 7 speed on mine using the smallest 7 sprockets off a 10 speed XT cassette. Haven’t needed to machine anything on mine though. It works really well around here (Surrey) and is even fine on long climby days elsewhere.

Thanks OP – that was great. It’s all changed a bit since I was a boy! Is there a reason they do a little wiggle in the air over the big jumps? Almost looks like they are pumping in the air.
