M&S didn’t need the list of bikes and was all covered under your general contents so was spot on for us. You can add to cover them away from home but I didn’t think we needed that.

Question for all the chaintool enthusiasts, why don’t you just carry a split link?

My previous dog was a labradoodle who was rarely in the vets and he was huge and gangly and looked like he’d hurt himself. My current dog is a staffie lab cross who looks very sturdy, so we went for the “self insure” route. Long story short we’ve spent £7k so far and shes only 8! We’ve had her 7 years (rescue), so thats £83.30 per month. Insurance would have been far cheaper.

I went from freeriders and they are better in almost every way. Grippier, more comfortable, ligther, don’t hold water when they get wet, etc. etc.

    “super glue”

Reminds me of a time I had a puncture and a helpful chap on the trail offered me a puncture repair kit, I gladly accepted and set about fixing my tube. Put some of the “vulcanising fluid” on my tube and give it a run around with my finger, wait a minute this doesn’t feel like it normally does….. next thing my fingers are stuck together, he had replaced given me super glue to repair the tube with in lieu of vulcanising fluid! Tube ruined, fingers stuck together, great.

I ride around Brecon a lot on the road bike and motorbikes are the absolute worst of all. Fly passed your shoulder doing 80mph giving as little room as possible and obviously swinging out at the very last moment as if you are some NPC in their strange little game. Always spend the next ten minutes dreaming of kicking their teeth out before the moment passes and cycling does what it does to the mind.

On 205s you could remove the back and forth locking mechanism and bolt the seat in place directly, you may have had to make a bracket I can’t remember, but the back and forther mechanism was ~1.5″ of height.

To be fair, that’s just the words of a scientist who has had some media training and / or got better at using Twitter to attract attention. The 42-word title of his academic paper is unlikely to be quite as catchy.

Steve Bennett is a British gemstone expert, who has since focused on the health industry serial entrepreneur.[1] He is known for his online shopping businesses.[2]

He says the body “prefers it”, but they averaged 10mph and there was no control group or comparator mentioned, so the body prefers it to what exactly? How has he concluded that?

“Key takeaway, the human body is designed to thrive and benefit from an occasional fast.” How is that the key takeaway when the only data he has shown is during and directly after the event? His body may have been functioning or performing better directly before or not long after this study took place. What is the definition here of thriving or benefiting? In what way?

This is **** awful science and written up very poorly, which is a shame because it’s an interesting experiment. As said above, none of the bodyfat measurements make sense when compared to the body weight measurements. Rider 5 has gained BF but lost weight, so all of the BF results are spurious at best.

Have a pair, wear them on the road bike and the mountain bike every time I ride. Only minor issue was the nose piece kept coming off so I put some super glue on it which doesn’t seem to have stuck it permanently but has added some roughness to the barbs so it doesn’t come loose any more.

The expenses everyone keeps quoting is for running an office of staff, most MPs have 3-6 staff working for them to deal with enquiries from the public etc. So that £220k quoted by binners isn’t really relevant to “expenses” which in most peoples definition would refer to lunches/travel etc. etc. etc.

(I’m not disagreeing with the points made about her statements being pretty stupid/unreasonable, but facts are facts.)

I moved to Swansea for University 13 years ago and I’m still here, I did spend a year in Whistler and then came straight back. The only reason I’d move is to get more support with the impending baby but I’d probably regret it! We’ve got a dog, so the beaches are great. The Gower gets busy in summer but there’s plenty of beaches that are a bit of a walk that are still pretty quiet. Annoyingly a lovely cafe has opened in Llanmadoc next to whitford beach which as made it busier and busier, I think it also appeared in a guardian article or something.

For cycling, road biking and mountain biking is great around the valleys. There’s some nice trails in Clyne woods for an after work hour.

The restaurants/takeaways are getting better slowly.

Are there many people who’ve actually used both? In classic STW fashion I’ll recommend what I have; a Roccbox.

Never had an issue with it, never bothered trying the wood box as gas makes a perfect pizza

My L200 always hits near £1k service cost by the time the ERG has been cleaned out.

I do about 4-6k PA and the truck is on 32k mileage. My old L200 that i bought new in 2005 and kept for 13 years cost half this to run. I used to do interim oil changes and then full service every 2 years/c10-12k. When it was in warranty they pretty much forced me to do 12k services every year even though I was doing less than 4-6k pa.

Merc EQA on its way so the truck will go back to the odd trip and family holidays/mtb’ing again..

This felt like some sort of riddle or aptitude test, “How many peopleL200s were going to st ivesthe scrapyard?”

We’ve got ivy on a breeze block wall and the stuff is a nightmare, you have to constantly cut it back. When we moved in we must have removed 4 estate cars worth as it had become a huge bush. It’s now only on the wall but I’ll need to cut it off the garage again this summer as it’s disrupting the guttering and tiles. there always all sorts of wild life in it though which is good.

Personally I find “fuelling” or for those people that hate this term, what I eat, has a massive impact on how long I can ride for and how I feel during that time. I eat a massive bowl of porridge for breakfast and then depending on what I have available: homemade flapjacks, nature valley, cliff bars, cereal bars and bananas throughout the day. If it’s a long day on the road bike instead of the mountain bike I’m mixing gels into that, especially later in the day and I’ll have carb drink in the bottles as well.

As someone else said, eating is great fun so I also make sure to have stuff that I wouldn’t normally eat, like snickers, peanut butter cups, cake or a recent favourite is refreshers.

I think these look great. POC products are generally hit or miss but these look great. But where is all the cost in these? Are the lenses that expensive? The Melon alleycats have Zeiss lenses and they are ALOT cheaper than these. Is this just the POC premium?

Not sure what his competence at his job has to do with this. I know intelligent folk who are unbelievably useless and some thick mofos who are great at their jobs.

Part of his job is being a professional driver.

I stand by sending the image in to head office. If some idiot was driving around our works with a similar tally on a fork lift truck I’d want to know about it.

I think they said they can be repaired but not replaced due to the joint type (double lap shear joint) and adhesive meaning removal of the tube from the lug isn’t possi

Wouldn’t it be possible to dissolve the glue/carbon fibre layup with something? Could you just bung the whole thing in a really hot oven?

Sorry, I must have scanned the thread in haste!
I think I understand the idea behind putting a wilfully wrong guess but to me, putting a word you know for certain is wrong to try and glean another couple of letters just seems a waste.

I did it to be clever and make sure I got it in 3. Upon reflection this wasn’t that clever and I should have gone for glory.

    Rivelo on sports pursuit
    Very good and much cheaper.
The winter tights are also very good

I’ve been using the Rivelos of sports pursuit for commuting and they’ve been absolutely spot on. However, I’ve now done two long rides 3.5 and 4.5 hours and they’ve started to chafe after 1-2 hours. I’ve relegated them to commuting only.
