Am loving my Ti 456… 3rd ride out today since finishing the build on Monday night and think it might be a while before taking the full suss out again!

Pikes are good. If you are running the longer rockers, I’ve had some good success with longer forks, running a Z1 Light on an 05 Spot with Push rockers.

They are not the same as an air pike. Less weight seems to equal less stiff in this case. Even around the Surrey Hills I could tell they were less stiff.

Got one in silver – seems alright so far.

Just fitted one to my new 5-Spot, primarily because of the very low stack height and not having enough steerer to use my old C K. They are quite dainty looking, but seem pretty well put together. They look nice, and unlike C K use a proper split-ring rather than an o-ring so shouldn’t wear a groove into the steerer. I did find it quite tricky to fit and required the purchase of a proper headset press rather than my DIY jobby that seemed to work for all other headsets I’ve fitted! Just bought another one off ebay.

Hmmmm – I do miss my Mojo sometimes. I have an exogrid motolite which I love, and is prob just as quick, but does not quite light my fire in the same way the Mojo did. I ended up selling it as it was a bit too small and I cracked a couple of rear triangles doing 3-4′ drops.
The DW suspension design is better than 4-bar / HL so was excited when Turner announced a move to DW. As a result, I’ve just got a new 5-Spot. Not as light as the Mojo but same lovely suspension action and feels a bit more robust.
Cracking bike though Titusrider – do you prefer it to the RacerX?

Rode my mates’ PA with Pikes on last night – most excellent. Ridden at 140mm and he seemed to climb pretty well too.

Just noticed mine has cracks around the front of the post where the rail clamp mounts. Mine is quite an old post, but got used half a dozen times in the lakes over new year, and lived outside in subzero temps for the week I was there.
Chris – do you want me to send you the post?

I bought a new Spot and love it. Just sold my 6-Pack frame as I couldn’t see it ever getting used again! I’m running Z1 Lights which have the same a-c height as something like the 36 and is great, but also tested with the new Revs @ 140mm and also very good.
I’ve not ridden the Tracer, but in my experience the DW is the best susp design out there, having ridden and owned quite a few Horst / 4-Bar designs, and an Ibis Mojo, and tested quite a few VPP bikes, admitedly not 2nd gen though.

Hmmm – whatever’s going on seems to be delaying shipment of frames. Any sign of a 16″ 456 Ti Brant??

My straitlines are going back. One pedal seized after limited use. Dismantled and reassembled but same happened. Shame as phenomenal grip.

I have a 5-Spot (HL version just switched to DW version) and a Motolite (Exogrod I got off Ebay). Quite different bikes, which is why I’ve kept both.
The ML is lighter (esp in Ti form) and has slightly steeper angles. Interestingly, the front end can wander a bit more on climbs, so I run both bikes with travel adjust forks (Thors on ML).
Suspension-wise, although both 4-bar, the ML feels taughter, therefore accelerating better than the Spot. The flip side of this is that the Spot feels much plusher over smaller stuff, esp with Push Rockers / Pushed RP3.
Upshot is both are great bikes, and this summer prob rode both equally depending on where I was riding and what mood I was in! If forced to choose one, I’d go for the new DW-Link Spot – best of both worlds with regard to suspension action!

Awesome wheels. V light and tough. Have them on my 5″ Motolite and regularly hit 3-4′ drops no problem. Run them tubeless and rarely have to pump up (but I also ue sealant). Only time they went out of true was when I stuck a foot into the front on a bizarre crash – trued out no problem.
Cased the rear one v badly trying to clear a ditch which I hadn’t spotted. Thought the wheel would just collapse under me but came out the other side perfectly true and no puncture! Just done a week in the Lakes riding a load of rocky stuff and again no problems. For the weight, I don’t think anything else gets close.

chriswilk – it doesn’t entirely and I therefore ride with flats when using it. Haven’t had any problems with knees though. I guess there is always some compromise when lugging a little one around. It’s just that with the LOCT I am able to ride some great trails at a decent speed, which both my daughter and I love.

LOCT – worth the money IMHO

Rode the new Revs and even in the Surrey Hills they show up as not being as stiff as the Pikes.

from last couple of night rides in the fog, a big tip is bar mounted lights not helmet. mine ar helmet mounted and i was blinded at any sort of speed, whilst my mate has bar mounted and had much better viz. i suspect this is due to helmet mounted light being reflected straight back off the water molecules into your eyes as they are at the same level.

Rode it on Jan 2nd (ie middle of the freeze) Seatoller to Coniston. On the climb a couple of big patches, on the descent all rideable, i.e. there were some patches but easily avoidable. Cracking ride – one of the best!

scaredypants – ha ha hadn’t put 2 and 2 together! Yes – much appreciated that – very thoughtful. Haven’t tried them yet but a good back-up! Have to say they’ve proved to be a bargain – they started out on my 6-Pack but then spent very valuable time on an Ibis Mojo, then swtiched to my 5-Spot (05 HL version but with 140mm rockers) and are now on the new DW-link Spot (yet to try). Had a service at Windwave and are awesome (just to rub it in more)!!

Hmmm – shame you need to use pro pedal on a linkage bike. One of the reasons I’ve just plumped for the DW Spot is that based on experience of the Ibis Mojo, the DW design rides perfectly with the shock fully open.

Have to admit that the Tracer looks awesome and it was a toss-up between it and the spot. The DW and frame sizing swung it for me, plus I couldn’t easily get a demo on the Tracer.

scaredypants – lol! Guy I bought mine off had destickered them so I bought some replacement ones via the importers Windwave. They’ve remained in place, even though I didn’t quite get one of them in the right place!

happysv – yes the rebound adjuster does get knocked around, although tbh that was the least of my worries – losing any rebound control halfway down snowdon, and then again on a full-day ride around the N Downs was far more frustrating (and dangerous). Hope DT have sorted it out!

Often ride in the area, usually Puttenham Common or Pitch / Leith, Tue or Thur – ajryan@btinternet.com if interested

Have Thors on my Motolite but have not tried them on my Spot. As most note, without the Albert they dive through the mid-stroke. They are pretty plush and plenty stiff, and the travel adjust is good apart from the lever. I continue to worry about Magura reliability as these were a replacement for some Wotans which were hopeless.
Not ridden the DT 150’s but had a set of Pace Fighter 20mm. Yes they are light and reasonably stiff, but reliability was hopeless – back to the factory 3 times in 13 months. Perhaps DT have sorted this out.
I tried some new Revs (20mm version) on a DW Spot and even in the Surrey Hills managed to push them hard enough to notice they are not that stiff – not in the same league as Pikes or the Thors.
How about trying to locate a set of Z1 Lights? Run a pair on my Spot and love them – yes a bit heavier and a bit longer, but awesome forks – reckon they’ll be collectors items one day!
