Should work well but prefered my Mojo with longer forks.

Pretty frustrating. I now have a £150 seatpost that is knackered and obsolute! Time for an email to Maverick and Crank Bros I think.

No problems with mine – 12.5st doing lakeland rocky descents and 4′ drops.

Another vote for the Cnoc here – my daughter mastered it in 10 mins on her 4th birthday after moving across from her Scoot balance bike.

Try a bigger fork. My Mojo felt much better when I moved to a Marz Z1 Light (similar a-c as a 36 etc).

Stuck a 50mm stem on my 5-Spot to replace the 70mm, and with big wide bars I love it!!!

Rate the 2.2″ UST’s – as good if not better than Nobby Nics.

phonbob – how long did it take you? Was thinking of doing it at some stage this summer ad hoc….

Wors – I took my XTR spd’s and carbon Shimano mtb shoes – its not too bulky on the road bike and obviously does ok on the mtb too.
We drove thru Alcudia and there appeared a couple of high-end hire shops there so you should have no problem hiring a decent road bike – dunno about mtb though.
I did two great road rides there – from Pollenca to Lluc monastry where I had lunch with the wife and kids then back – 46km and 650m climbing, and then from Pollenca out toward the lighthouse on Cap Formentura – again big climbs but rewarded with awesome decents. It’s a long time since I’ve had so much fun on a road bike.

Not many people around with R1’s at the moment. Been waiting on mine for a couple of months now and well overdue. One guy on MTBR Titus forum imported some from an Ebay guy based in France and reckons after a couple of rides they are very good, but that’s all I’ve heard.

Yep – Andy was guiding us, and hired pretty decent ‘Dale full-sussers. All round great ride.

An update – just got back from Mallorca where we stayed in Pollenca. Hired a road bike from Pro Bikes in Porta Pollenca and the (English) guys were great, as was the road riding.

I also did a cracking MTB ride out of Port de Soller with Tramontana Tours – highly recommended and cracking technical rocky riding. Brutal climbing in the 35 deg C heat though!

I loved my Mojo – was blindingly quick everywhere, and just got better and better with a 150mm fork! Shame the rear triangle cracked…. twice. Ibis were great about replacing it, but that, plus it was slightly too small, meant I sold it. DW rocks though – it’s why I bought a new 5-Spot!

I’ve got one (an exogrid) and love it, but to be clear, it fits into the 5″ XC category rather than anything more aggressive. As noted above, it’s got steepish angles, and tight tyre clearance, but it is plush over the bigger hits, and blindingly fast. I have mine set up with 140mm forks (Magura Thors) but wind them down for steep climbs, and 2.25″ tyres (Nobby Nics) and in that guise I’m happy riding 4′ drops and pretty steep tech stuff, but for more playful riding I prefer my 5 Spot.

One thing worth noting is the resale / second hand value is not great compared to Turner etc due to the lack of brand recognition here in the UK. No disrespect to Si, but I would say the same thing probably applies to Chumba. The other make that springs to mind with a very similar design is Nicolai, either the CC, or the rather tasty looking AC. As a complete bike, Lapierre also looks quite similar.

Had it on mine – re-torquing the bolts seemed to cure, but requires a torque wrench.

4yr old daughter has a Cnoc 14 after progressing from a Scoot and loves it. It is very well designed and made, with everything sized accordingly. Braking is the main difficulty my daughter faces – it’s an all or nothing affair at the moment which can produce some impressive skidz, but definately means a front brake isn’t a good idea!! Isla bikes for me all the way.

Also actionsports.de better value than bike24 for multiple orders.

Don’t suppose they had a Spesh SX Trail going cheap did they??

Its a shame but we have to remember without horses there would be no bridleways in England and we would only be able to ride trail centres

….or alternatively without horses no-one would have bothered with the rather daft classification system we have in England and Wales and we’d be free to ride anywhere we wanted.

There was a discussion on this a number of months ago where I had asked the same thing of the NP. It’s a fair response but at the time Simon Barnes pointed out there was a perfectly graded track running virtually parallel to this which could have been used instead by horses and infirm.

The argument could also be turned on it’s head – there are plenty of well-surfaced bridleways and tracks in the area that horses and walkers could have used instead.

Only saving grace is that one can rely on nature to do it’s thing and return it to something more interesting in time!

Good photo, but reckon you could improve it further by cropping out some of the sky giving it more of a panoramic feel, and perhaps increasing the contrast somewhat.

I’m keen to get one of the 08 models as a play bike – the slack angles, low bb, and plushness of 7″ coil travel appeal. I’m not sure it’ll get used much as my trail bike given I also have a 5-Spot in the shed, instead being brought out for occaisional jump sessions, and to help overcome “the fear” on particular drops, jumps, and gaps!!

Stif are doing them for 15% off RRP, so I get a set for around £300 which is pretty good (just have to be patient!) If a LBS could come close to this then I’d definitely go for it, guess I should give them a call and see what they can do

Most LBS will do you 10% off RRP for any purchase of reasonable size.

As above, they are awesome brakes – I’ve ended up dropping a rotor size they are so powerful. Don’t seem to like the wet though.

The ML is a cracking bike. The reason that there seems to be a few around at very cheap prices is Titus have little by way of brand recognition here in the UK, and as a result, 2nd hand prices are very poor. I’ve got an Exogrid ML which I picked up off Ebay for £800 (and that included a CK headset) vs £2700 new!!

Tell me about it – been waiting for my R1’s for about the same length of time.

Psychle – as you seem to be local, have you tried Head for the Hills in Dorking? Last time I was in there they had stock of The Ones.

Enjoy the Traversees – great wheels.

Turners use grease ports and bushings rather than bearings. They last forever, even in UK winter conditions.

Only ridden with them in the dry and think they’re pretty good. As mentioned above think something like the Nobby Nic nudges them, and is probably much better in the wet too.

Got one of the new DW 5-Spots and love it. Climbs beautifully even with a set of Fox 36 Floats, in part due to the suspension design being very “taught” under pedalling.

As I thought then – not BC and therefore Wiggle’s website description frankly a lie. My suspisions were arounsed when there was no mention on the box – given the hoo-hah Conti are making, I’m sure they’d have put a logo wherever possible if they had BC in them!
I’ve a set of 2.4″ Mountain Kings which are OK, but not as good as 2.25″ Nobby Nics, so was keen to try one of the tyres with BC, but want UST, and the 2.4″ Rubber Queens would be too big.
Given the cost, I think I’ll ship them back to Wiggle (and argue trades descritpions if they get arsey) and ship some more NN’s in from Bike24 / Actionsports.
Househusband – not for the ML – that’s currently running Nobby Nics front Racing Ralphs rear for dry weather duties.

Try the US website. The distributor in the UK has changed so I think the UK site has suffered as a result. I’d also check out MTBR forum for Titus – some helpful people on there.
At 5’10” you’d most likely be a medium but depends on which bike, and how you prefer them. I’ve a medium Motolite which is a perfect fit, but a medium El Guapo would have been too small.
I think there is a demo fleet around if you prefer to try first.

Andy – are you intending to take 1 day or 2??

    heihei

Part of the wide bars thing is that they open out your chest a bit more, bringing more of your upper-body muscles into play when pulling the bike around. It’s a similar effect to using risers vs flat bars.
Have found a set of Easton CNT DH bars to be awesome on the 456 Ti – really encourage you to pull the bike around! Probably sounds like a load of BS but makes my grin a bit wider every time I ride it!

140 is possible on float 36’s, as is pretty much any other height you want.

    heihei

OP – dial in the lightest “albert select” on the Thors – cures the blowing thru the travel without losing too much on the smaller stuff.

Another vote for Pikes here (although tempted to try Float 36’s set at 150mm).

    heihei

Rocketdog – yep toptubes are a bit short. I moved from a med to a large and haven’t regretted it.

    heihei

I haven’t yet! I’ve gone from a 70mm stem to a 50mm and have yet to find a situation where I wanted less travel / quicker steering, even on steep climbs. I went from a med HL Spot to a large DW Spot so the shorter stem works well. I may well reduce to 150mm to see if it makes much difference, but only if I’m particularly bored one evening!
My mate just replaced his Pikes with Float 36’s set at 150mm on his TNT Spot and loves it.

    Si,

The Floats are internally adjustable which as well as reducing travel also reduces a-c. Get the Floats, and if you find too choppy then reduce internally. Thats what I did on my 5-Spot.

Nope – reckon it’s 87 or 88. I bought 2 Konas in 89 (a lava dome and an explosif) and that was the year they’d moved away from splatter frames.

Gutted I sold my old Explosif – trying to find another one to replace it with!!
