Don’t spend too much on tri-bars as more than likely you’ll be hankering for a dedicated TT machine soon.

Also fitting the tri-bars every week is quite annoying especially trying to the get the same position as the week before.

Did ride up and down the street hoping it would fall off but no joy. Will try again, if not I’ll get a new extracting bolt.

Just remembered I’ve got an old Truvativ crank in the garage, maybe I can use the self-extractor from that.

    Thanks all for your help

I’m missing something, quite literally. I’ve got the 8mm bolt but no 16mm one. Its quite obvious now that its missing 😯 Not sure how that would have happened.

Now what? New crankset? How am I gonna get this one off? 😥

Thanks for your repy, I’ve read about this outer bolt but as far as I can see its just 1 8mm bolt. Crank is a SRAM Rival.

I feel a bit more confident on the 29er, not loads but it is noticeable.

The main benefit I get now from owning a 29er is that I can walk on water

    Awesome.

Yep, easy – go ride some tight natural single track

I did that on my 29er Superfly and set a new PB on the Strava segment

Trek Superfly. A 29er that doesn’t feel like a 29er but still has all the benefits that bigger wheels bring

I went smaller. Bike came with a 180 front, replaced it with a 160

I imagine even Woburn which is normally rideable all year round will have turned into a quagmire.

Just called my local Trek shop and the At-850 rim isn’t TLR. The guy there said it can still be done and to try pumping them up to 80-90 psi with a tube in 😯

Not sure this is a tubeless ready rim. You may need a tubeless conversion kit, not just tape and a valve.

They are not tubeless ready, but I am using tubeless tape from Superstar and and their valves. Have tried gorilla tape too with the same results. Other than a rim strip not sure what else I can try.

60psi seems far too high to get seated.

I got to 60 after disconnecting my ghetto inflator, pressures then falls to 20ish. i then pump manually to 60. when i’ve done this before normally the seating happens around 40psi.

Just tried again this morning using a bit of old tube in between the rim and the valve and had some success in that I could get the pressure up to 60psi but still they wouldn’t seat 😐

I’ve got gorilla tape on this wheel and its slightly too wide so maybe its stopping the seating happening.

Tried that. Think I’m going to have to resort to an LBS visit

Bloody hope not, just spent 1500 quid on my first 29er. Had a 26 before but didn’t and still don’t see much point in 650b/27.5’s

Think the Tarw/Red Bull has lasted pretty well at CyB. Don’t recall that being a BMX friendly berm-athon. More rocks less berms please

I thought about going for the fast bike, fun bike option but like you I’d probably always go for the fast bike too.

Ride with other fast people. You’ll never push as hard on your own

Continental Gatorskin here. Fast, hard wearing, very puncture resistant, decent grip

Not sure about that, found them pretty poor in anything other than bone dry conditions

Been with Saddle Skedaddle and Joyriders. Both times I went on my own and most other people on the trips were individuals like me. Every one on both trips were so friendly it was great

I’ve got Friel’s MTB book and the time crunched one and I find that you need a degree in Sports physiology to understand them. very complicated and unless you’re training for the olympics i don’t think it needs to be

I wouldn’t buy a bike right now. I do fancy a 29er but I’m not sure how long they’re gonna be around for. Don’t want 650b in case they don’t stick around and there’s not enough difference between them and 26 anyway. So I’ll keep my 26er for now until all this wheel sh*t has settled down.

I bought a Tacx T-1820 from Merlin for about 80 quid. Its not the quietest but its not the loudest either. Its perfect for me and my 1 hour sesssions each week.

The carbon lateral movement is a load of rubbish I think so ignore that.

    Hi Matt

What what is like riding a 29er hard tail on that terrain? Did you ever wish you had a FS at any point?

    Cheers

yeah this. any MTB trail that is smooth enough to ride on a BMX gets a thumb down for me 🙁

Great race, great course considerin all of the last minute changes. They certainly know how to organise an event.

I’d been ill all week and was on the verge of pulling put. Glad I gave it a go though for my 56th place. Could easily have been 55th on another day 😉
