Sorry I should have mentioned its a road bike. The current BB is a Shimano BB-71 which I think makes it a BB-86 which I thought was a PF30 type. But it seems BB-86 and PF30 are different standards altogether. Confusing stuff.
Wanted to use my current cranks which are Shimano FC-R565. As far as I can tell they are Hollowtech II which means they should be fine. But to me it seems that the bottom bracket shell plus the extra width of the bearing cups would be too wide for the crank spindle.
Just had mine returned from Mojo. Very happy, they even managed to get some of the internals replaced under warranty which given that the forks were 2nd hand to me is very pleasing
Yeah tried that. The BB is just too loose in the frame.
Spoken to LBS who happens to a be Giant dealer who in turn spoke to Giant UK and this part is not stocked as a replaceable part. Only hope is finding an old broken frame and taking it out
Went for the “ghetto” approach to removing a BB ie. hammer and screwdriver. The metal inner has a small lip on it which I was hitting thinking it was the BB itself. Eventually the BB came out along with the inner.
The one I’m thinking of use to go up a concrete path to a gate. But before the gate you take a 90 degree turn left. After 100 meters or so it splits either straight on or right. Going right was a twisty single track section that end up by the gate on the other side of the road just up from the Birch. If you took the straight on way you ended up in the same place at the bottom but no where nears as fun.
