My 8 year old son has loved the Beast Quest series since he was 6 or so. He still enjoys the ‘…Love Underpants’books with his younger brother (4) and sister (3). The Dinosaurs one went down particularly well.

Helen Cooper’s books are favourites too and Pumpkin Soup is a particular fave.

Also well worth looking at are Benedict Blathwayt’s Little Red Train books.

Of course episodic reading of classics like Wind in the Willows, Grimm Bros, American Psycho etc can’t be beaten.

It will continue for as long as the natives project their search for inner happiness/sense of self-importance onto incremental ‘advances’ in the shiny bead trade.

So, a fair old while then.

But yes vampire films/books are pretty dead to me nowadays not that i ever read many book

Yeah but just when you think they’re dead…. 😉

really enjoy True Blood for countering the whole anaemic, castrato Twilight vampires. Let The Right One In was a great film which explored the emotional yet vicious killer side of things with some subtlety. Near Dark was fun but Martin was probably my favourite (not) vampire film.

Actually, no, anything with Ingridd Pitt was…

    Not this again!
Slice open the stomach of Steve Wright and shove the bloated bodies of his children, Moyles and Evans inside. Stitch it up and dump it in the ocean.
Bring back DJs who are interested in music.

    Yess.

mind you, ‘play your neighbourhood’ radio on last.fm works well for me.

a splinter group setting up their own Thailand forum and organising forum raids.

I seem to remember this happened here – there was a forum called mlehworld or something set up as a splinter from here. I visited once. Lot of gay innuendo – couldn’t work out if it was serious, ‘funny pretend’, or repressed real masquerading as ‘funny pretend’. Whichever it was, it wasn’t very interesting. I think there was also a splinter forum set up for southerners who were intimidated by stw’s northern grit, chocolate something or other. I visited that one once too. It was very southern, very audi.

    Is bikemagic still going?

No idea but I wish they’d take the scaffolding down from the factory, it’s a bleeding eyesore.

Hey man, wear your pads. If anyone worries about it then just stop and reflect for a minute upon the fuckedupness of their priorities.

because he plugged in, played Eruption note perfect behind his head, then handed the guitar back to the assistant.

So he, erm, downtuned it too?

That would explain his highs standing in Europe would it ?

Roll your eyes all you like but there’s no denying that his start to the season has been abysmal, utterly awful. Totally demotivated players, his best signing being played out of position, no service… high standing in football capital of Eurpoaville, Sweden, doesn’t mean shit if he can’t get a decent squad at least halfway up the table by now.

Yep, Woy’s totally ovewated by a jingoistic national press who are desperate to find an English England manager. Woy was one of their contenders.

    HeathenWoods

Surprised a bit when they din’t name him as manager tbh, and appointed Woy instead.

But KK would have been an appointment that was all about the fans and the club – everything the cowboys didn’t give a crap about – and Woy was a board appointment, someone who was always going to be grateful to his employers and not want to rock their boat. What’s a bit uncomfortable is that it was Purslow who, alledgedly, levered Rafa out and did the club a disservice but now seems to have done the club a world of good by forcing the sale through. It’s all too confuzzling right now.

    Far from done, la.

My guess is that Purslow and Ayre felt in strong enough a legal position to go ahead but yep, not 100% done.

Yanks with a sporting heritage you say? Aye… well we’ve been having a fine old time with those at the other end of the M62

Yeah, that’s a sorry tale (cough) – on the other hand, Randy Lerner at Villa’s not so bad and the Red Sox are run pretty successfully so fingers crossed. 😐 until 😀

On the other other hand, I’d have preferred the ‘Asian’ bid to have been taken up but the only way is up from here (as long as woy goes too)

Done, done and done. It’s more Yanks but it’s Yanks with sporting heritage – JWH has not exactly held back with the Red Sox.

Fresh bids are in but in the meantime the **** chaos behind the scenes continues. New owners and woy out before halloween? I hope it’s not too much to hope for and that the nightmare’s over soon.

    EDIT: that should be ****ing

Used to like them for their all-rounder skillz but have drifted through tyres nomadically for a while now. Went back to some old IRC Trailbears I found in the garage and even they were okay (well, predictable anyway) on wet and mossy rocks, roots etc.

Soul. I agree with what’s been said above about PAs but I found my Soul to be more of a disappointment, all things considered – a good frame for sure but not all that.

Heathen woods – ampthill – no footpath riding for you then? he who is without sin…….

That’s a totally false comparison. My complaint isn’t about the legality of it – it’s about the sustainability of it. I’ve seen too many tracks wrecked by MXers to have any time for any counter arguments because they’re always feeble. They trash trails more than any other group and can **** off as far as i’m concerned.

Fat knackers who couldn’t pedal up their mum’s backs without motorised aids. Hate ’em. Trash the tracks and think it’s their entitlement to do so. Selfish, conceited **** by and large.

If a shop takes a job on that needs parts and they’ve got non

If the parts are needed for something they do regularly (like service forks i’d’ve thought) then they shouldn’t take on what they can’t do. It’s pretty easy to see when you’re running low and get new stock in *before you run out*.

    A month? That’s shit.

He was quite unsettled, talking to people as if they were mutual friends from the past, shouting out random abuse to people, making obviously racist comments, giving an Asian glass collector the finger and talking in a false mancunian accent.

You missed the bit in his bio when he was lead singer in The Smiths.

I would pay good money to see you say that directly to the face of a rugby player

It would be pretty tricky to gauge his reaction through all the fake blood. Puffs.

    A couple more:

Carrie Tree, Sharron Kraus (my favourite singer of the last few years, particularly sombre windswept stuff), Morito Doji, Fit & Limo (particularly awesome), Kayno Yesno Slonce, The Magic Carpathians Project, Floating Flower (definitely from another world), The Iditarod, Atman (like Kayno Yesno, Fit&Limo, and the Carpathians, European and a long way from being precious traditionalists).

    And of course, Comus.

    Lots and lots.

Incredible String Band, Shirley and Judy Collins, Deserted Village label (especially United Bible Studies, Magickal Folk of the Faraway Tree), Espers, Charalambides, Dr Strangely Strange, etc.

It's worth trawling through the 'Reviews' and 'Rumbles' section of Ptolemaic Terrascope. It's also choc full of the full range of contemporary and olde worlde pscyhedelia.

Sfunny how the most obvious spending costs are never mentioned. To wit: one faded imperial power with aspirations way beyond its current tinpot status spend billions on unnecessary 'defense' budget to keep the deathpimps in business.

**** BAE systems and their bloodsucking buddies and pump the lot into medical research instead.

When they do Civil War re-enactments in the US, are all the people who play the Confederates secretly wishing that the South can rise again and topple the govt in DC? No.

Hmm. Wish I could agree with you there. Probably not, "all," anyway… 😉

I think one of my favourite commentaries on computer games was Gillian Skirrow's, 'Hellivision' (iirc), which used Kleinian psychoanalysis that young men's attraction to video games was linked to entering a fantasy womb behind the screen in which they battled symbolic phalluses on their way to an inescapable confrontation with the mother's castrating vagina. Or something like that. Life's a riot with Kleinian psychoanalysis 🙂

Even the Romans noticed that people in southern Britain were more civilised than notherners because they'd had contact with the people on mainland Europe.

Yes, that'll explain York and Chester.

The north is full of small minded bigoted people, some of whom happen to be mountain bikers.

Which is why the vast majority of posts on this thread are from defensive southerners preempting an influx of hate-fueled Northerners that live in their large, unbigoted minds. Lollers.

Enjoy the Epping cycle paths chaps.
