🙂 Thanks folks, you've brought a smile to me and my missus' faces which is a pretty big achievement right now. Simonralli – hang on to those unique skillz! 🙂

Nice one Andy; I considered one on my cycle2work but had to admit that a new bike wasn't the right thing whilst saving for a deposit for a house…

…sound like you're enjoying being back in Cornwall. "Plan is also to get a childseat added this summer so I can take my daughter off to the beach." Not something you'd hear in Derby 🙂

    You're from t'south aren't you?

I saw the dread words 'raspberry' and 'beer' together. There'snodoubt about it.

Something like this? I thought jenson would have more available – my thoughts were you could get it shipped from them to the inlaws within the US. They've got some cheap stuff so you might be able to put something together

Is this going to make Tracklogs maps cheaper?

    • reduce the impact on existing market participants, in light of consultation feedback
    • ensure that core reference information is freely available while protecting the ability of all market participants, including the Ordnance Survey, to add value

    Sadly, I suspect not.

It's been pretty wet over in Norn ireland so another flood sale may be round the corner…

And, I just love the way they choose utterly abysmal music from obscure/unsigned bands that in no way matches the tempo of the music. Nothing to do with them being cheap.

Uh? They use pretty well known stuff and it fits the ambience of the sgements pretty well; it might not be mainstream stuff but thank **** it's not the usual bland corporate stock hip hop rock chock stuff that usually leaves great riding submerged in meh. But, hey if that's what you like, y'know, that's cool.

But Earthed 2 is also mint because of the soundtrack

Yeah, no matter how beautifully filmed I often lose the will to live watching mtb dvds because the soundtrack is often generic rock/hiphop/beige **** (seasons, collective etc) but the Earthed series was always fun and had great soundtracks – even if i didn't like what was put on there i could at least smile in disbelief 🙂

Tipping Point is v.good as others have said.

Just feel that I need to walk up The Cheviot.

Then ignore me – I know the call that certain parts of the land can exert. It's wonderful country.

If i don't get blown away that sounds like a great idea – I'm not keen on out'n'backs so if there's a purpose at the end/start that'll make it all worthwhile.

I'm sitting at my em+pee's house in North Northumberland as I type, just Northeast of the Cheviot. I would advise bringing a singlespeed. Ark. A singlespeed ark.

If it's dried out, set off SE of Holystone and make for Simonside, it's really nice round there with some happy trails.

EDIT: And Cheviot is a horrid boggy mess – not worth it, there are far better hills to wander up, down and around in the Cheviots.

Thanks that for that everyone. I was warned that it's pretty wild round there – my dad (who walked round there for years) said he felt as exposed there as in the Torridons. Which piqued my interest.

One to remember – probably on a similar basis to trekster's plans!

Cheers for that steven. Not at all what I expected; I'll have to have a closer look at the maps

    Lol, yes indeedy Kevevs.

I've got a crap phone. Having said that, I can get tinternet and fillums on it tho for the day when my brain finally becomes totally empty. I take it on long journeys too just in case my eyes stop working, the book i've taken spontaneously combusts or both.

I must admit that the thought of 00s of freeware apps hasn't got my pulse racing so i'll pass on an iphone for now, eh.

    What's an iphone?

For Apple Incorporated of America 'tis the very Philosopher's Stone of which the alchemysts of yore didst but dream. They have trasnmuted plastic, silicon and gimmickry into pots and pots of pure gold!

I once had an acquaintance who decided to return to his family's loving bosom after years of 'decadent living'. He knocked on the door and was met by a complete stranger. His mum and dad had moved a year before and not told him…

So … should I set out the ground rules from the outset? In writing? Tough love?

Yes. Or see if your riding buddies have a spare bike and ride some trails with him, share a few brews and just when he least expects it give him the advice, guidance and encouragement that'll help him. He might listen.

I think that gay 'rights' quite rightly should be well down his 'issues' list, when just staying alive is probably a current concern along with how to get his country out of the mess.

Hmm. Whereas in the West, a cynic might say, it's easier to support gay rights than to tackle fundamental problems such as the wealth divide, sunk estates and a growing proportion of disenfranchised, oh how did Marx put it? The lumpen proletariat? Politics made easy. A bit like wringing hands over an imperialist past whilst washing hands of the present.

Mind you, who'd be so cynical as to say such a thing?

Well, making sweet love should resume by about week four and that takes the edge off the slightly stressy no sleep feeling. Sleep patterns may well calm down by about month six – even if they are shite you know what to expect and can plan around them.

And children are brilliant. Even when they drive you mental and you wish you had a coal bunker to lock them in.

Although the music snobs just have to slate it though, it's the law apparently.

I think there's a little more to it than that; not my opinion, just the feeling I've got. Frinstance: Bari Watts (of Outskirts of Infinity and a very good Hendrix-style guitar player as well as a major fasn of Hendrix) was of the opinion that there are better mastered versions amongst the bootlegs and that it's the Hendrix family milking the memory for every last cent they can (I think his gripe is that it's not even 'proper' family).

Still, it's Jimi and it's awesome. It make sme wish for an afterlife in which he and Brian Jones jam to their heart's content.

Geesh, this stamp duty thing is all headlines and no trousers. How many people really fall into the strict guidelines? Let's see:-

    1) Must be a first time buyer
    2) If two purchasers, BOTH must be first time buyers
    3) Must be buying between £125,000 and £250,000 (a fair chunk of 1st time buyers will be below £125,000 anyway).
    4) Must be main residence

    1) Tick
    2) Tick
    3) Tick
    4) Tick.

    Thanks Darling.

Just spotted gusamc's advice. Must admit I'm finding the brassiere a tad uncomfortable and my missus is giving me unusual looks; I also already have a craving for new shoes. Most unusual!

A couple more we'd not thought of too. Excellent. Hopefully we won't come across as quite as naive as we actually are 🙂

    Thanks everyone.

RichPenny, cynic-al: Yep, that's our first criteria. Rural enough for me, close enough to shops for missus, enjoyable enough for the kids and 'home' enough for all of us. After managing all that electricity and running water might be a bonus 🙂
