    I agree. Very cheeky indeed!!

I was on a graduate trainee scheme too a few years ago based in Leeds and after 1 month they asked me to move to London to work on a company merger. The company paid for my accomodation and evening meals for 7 months (although it was a just a scruffy room in a house in Ealing), but they didn’t pay for my travel expenses from Leeds. I thought that was bad enough at the time TBH, as I hated living down there and travelled home nearly every weekend, but at least they went some way towards being covering my expenses.

My advice is to check your contract of employment first. Does it define the location of your regular place of work? If it does & they are asking you to work somewhere else, then they have an obligation to covering your expenses. I doubt you’d be able to claim back expenses from the tax man, but check it with a qualified accountant to make sure you make the most of what might be a crappy situation. If they don’t change their offer, I’d be asking myself if I really want to stay with a company that treats me like thatin the longer term though!!

No problems for me either. It’s been 1 to 2 day delivery times on my last few orders…

Have you looked in Wharfedale yet?

Ilkley, Burley in Wharfedale & Menston all all great places to live and you can get into Leeds within 30 minutes by train or 45 mins by car. They’ve also got the added bonus of being on the edge of the city and close to the Dales, so the bikings pretty good too. :D

Can’t find much wrong with Panaracer Rampage for a good do it all tyre TBH…

    Thanks nickwolves.
In a way it’s reassuring that I’m not the only one to have had this problem. Shame there doesn’t seem to be a way of fixing it rather than replacing it though. The rest of it is really well engineered, it’s just that bl**dy valve
Anyone else know if there’s a fix for this???

We’ve got engineered oak in our kitchen, dining room, lounge and hall. No problems :-)

I’m sure the G-form pads are lightweight and comfy, but has anyone actually crashed in them yet??

Does anyone know if they really provide protection in a rocky impact?? I’d really like to know…

Tend to keep my bikes for a while and give ’em a good thrashing, but here’s my list going right back to the start…

    Raleigh Budgie (wheelie machine!!!)
Raleigh Grifter (planted the seed for future MTBing)
    Raleigh Equipe
Raleigh Apex (first proper MTB with Girvin Flexstem and Scott AT3 bars!)
Orange Clockwork (class act and still going strong :D )
Proflex 857 with Pace RC36 and Noleen NR4 (still got it but killed the shocks eventually)
    Genesis Altitude 30 (love it!)

    Anyone know what Johannesburg’s like?

I might be working out there quite a bit in the next year or two & while everyone seems to love Cape Town, I haven’t heard a good thing said about Jo’burg yet. Is there a good reason for this???

I also get knocking when I lock my brakes on when stationary and its because of the floating rotors.

Basically there’s a tiny bit of play between the centrelock section of the rotor and the braking surface section by the rivets and when the pads are holding the disc, this play becomes noticeable. My LBS tells me this isn’t unusual and not a problem as the braking force in normal use instantly takes up the slack, so doesn’t affect braking performance at all, thankfully :-)

Haven’t got anything like that much stuff, but I have got an old Proflex frame with Pace RC36 forks on it that I don’t know what to do with. Any ideas? Sell it or bin it???

Anyone travelling round Copenhagen can’t help but notice that their power stations are all run by DONG Energy 8O (Danish Oil and Natural Gas).

Did a 5k corporate charity run there last year and there were literally dozens of people walking round with DONG on their t-shirts and no-one said a thing!!! (Apart from me that is :-) )

Thank god they’re not based in this country cause we’d never be able to be quite so mature, I’m sure…

Love those Alpitudes!! :-) Adds a good dose of gnarr to the Genesis recipe. Bet it’ll be a right laugh with 150mm up front though.

Obviously Leftys look VERY cool, but do they actually have any advantages over conventional forks??

(Cue claims of increased sex appeal, gnarr etc, etc, etc… :-) )

Felt there’s potential for improvement of the standard Genesis package I got. Wider bars certainly confirmed that for me, but I’m not sure where to try next. Might try some Minions DHF’s, maybe a Hope seatpost and stem if I get a bonus. Any thoughts??

Have you all upgraded parts already or did you buy the frames or their own?

I haven’t been blown away by the quality of the Genesis parts on my Altitude so I’ve changed bars & grips so far & would like to change the stem & seatpost at some point too. How about you?

Just under 12 stone & put about 115psi in both positive & negative chambers & have rebound set half way.
Played around with a few psi less, but I was using up 100 of the 120mm travel just cornering, so these pressures seem to prop it up much better.

My consultant told me that he wouldn’t typically plate a broken clavicle unless the bone was sticking through the skin!! He believed that in the longer term plating caused as many problem as it resolves due to numbness, pressure spots around the plate & bolts & the potential for further damage if the plated area was impacted again as the plate itself could break the bone. Certainly put me off having a plate put in and apart from bring left with a lump on the bone I don’t have any problems at all now its healed naturally :-)

I haven’t ridden a Soul, but on paper they do look to have very similar geometry at least. Love the way Altitudes ride though. Lively on climbs, responsive on singletrack & positively encourages you to give it a thrashing on the downhills too. Great all round bike IMO… Just like a Soul apparently…

Go for the wider Havocs, you won’t regret it. You can always cut them down if you really find them too big & the extra weight really is insignificant.

Broke mine in 3 places at the end of October last year & couldn’t drive until after Christmas. Didn’t get back on the bike until February as I’d lost a lot of strength (& confidence) in the 7 weeks my arm had been stuck in a sling.

The worst thing was that the consultant recommended that I cancel a snowboarding holiday I’d planned with the family for March. Don’t think my wife will ever let that one go…

Sorry you’ve been unlucky enough to do yours too, but if I were you I’d take it easy on the pain killers, get yourself a box set of The Sopranos and try and get yourself comfortable for a few weeks. You can’t rush the healing process I’m afraid, but hopefully your recovery will be quicker than mine.

Just checked the mech on my Altitude 30 and it’s marked as an FD-M660.
As you can see from the pics, it’s bottom pull, top swing design.

The hardest part about replacing my dishwasher was refitting the cupboard door to the front of the new machine. What a pain in the ar*e that was!!
I was doing this with my right arm in a sling due to a broken collarbone though, but doing it 2 handed would still have tested my patience I can tell you!! USELESS German instructions…

    Bosch for me too.

Got mine in December at a very good price from http://www.appliancesonline.co.uk. Service was exceptional too. Highly recommended.

Took the family in 2010 & spent a week in Orlando to do the theme parks & a week on the Gulf coast at Clearwater to give us some chill out time by the beach & pool. Can’t recommend Virgin holidays highly enough. The villa in Orlando was amazing, the hire car was a beast (black Chevrolet Suburban) & the Marriott at Clearwater was great too. A brilliant holiday & one we’d love to do again.

Just got some Fox Launch Pro knee pads from Stif (£39.99). Haven’t ridden in them yet TBH, but they seem to fit really well and feel like they’ll be comfy on the bike. Seem to get good reviews too on just about every site I’ve been on :-)

I’ve just got my pair of L/XL Launch Pro knee pads & they feel really good so far!

The fit is snug but not tight round my calfs & knees & the overall cut is articulated & very comfortable . The real test will be riding with them on of course, so I can’t wait to get out on the bike this weekend!

I’d say that the size chart, linked to my earlier post, is spot on too as I was just inside the recommended sizes for L/XL.
