“Working antisocial hours can prematurely age the brain and dull intellectual ability, scientists warn.

If this is true then some of my colleagues were born to work shifts. 😕

The Bush and Castle Bar get my vote. I think The Swan at the top of Kirkgate is open again. d45yth will know, being a native. In short, if you can’t get drunk on ale in Cockermouth you’re not trying hard enough.

The house maintenance costs were my biggest consideration before deciding that I’ll jump ship. Hopefully I have enough put aside and if not then my question to the forum in years to come will be, ‘how much is a 2003 Orange Sub 5 worth?’

This is quite a relevant topic for me. I plan to to retire through ill health within the next twelve months. I’ve already had my pension figures and even though it’s half my current salary I’ll more than manage. Having no debts or other mouths to feed, plus very little in the way of monthly outgoings make it all possible. A colleague who recently retired said to me, you cut your cloth accordingly. I’m 41.

I’ve just switched it on and a dumper truck is being dragged out of the river. Should be good.

ibis should be dropping their prices to winter rates anytime now. The one next to Euston is good as is the one at Blackfriars (100 yards from Southwark tube). Ibis get cheaper the further out of the city you go. The Whitechapel one is very much cheap and cheerful.
It’s London so you’re less than 30 minutes from everywhere.

Saw them at the Barrowlands supporting the first record. It was OK but I wouldn’t go twice. Saw At The Drive at the Arches in 2001. Utterly chaotic and brilliant. It was like watching their Jools Holland appearance for seventy minutes.

It’s not nailed on that the sun will shine at Easter. This is early April a few years ago. In fourteen trips to Ciclo this was my only week in the snow. Happy days.

I think he’ll ride it for a couple of weeks and then decide on the steerer. The jury is out on the 30mm stem. Great looking bike though.

My friends bike is built. Thanks for all the advice/suggestions. Brakes are Hope as are the hubs (Pro2). Renthal carbon bars, Sram groupset (XO/XO1), Fox Float R’s and a Thomson Gravity Dropper post.

Great suggestions as ever on here. I’ll post a pic when he’s done building.
Many thanks.

He has the cash for a great build. He likes Fox from his previous bikes. Personally I’d be looking at something else. Not sure they’re worth the money. Rockshox perhaps?

I’ve bought a couple of things from here Castlegate Gallery
I have a few singed low edition prints from various artists including Faile, Conor Harrington and Banksy but I’ve only ever bought something because I loved it. If I bought something as an investment I’d probably get it wrong.

My mate can’t remember who delivered his guitars. Give the shop a call, I’m sure they’ll point you in the right direction. Moon Guitars

I’ve just sent a text to a mate. He recently had two of his guitars sent back via currier from Jimmy Moon. One was a 1973 Telecaster and the other a 1974 Strat.

If it’s the bridleway that starts just off the road about a half mile from Wasdale Head campsite then I’d give it a miss. I’m sure I did years ago. As I rememmber it, the final half up to the summit was push and carry, the first half wasn’t much better. I did it as part of a loop starting at Bowness Knott car park, down to Black Sail YH, up Black Sale pass and down to Wasdale Head. The decent to Wasdale Head is special. The fun ended there. The rest was a slog. I remember being on the summit of the bridleway looking down to Ennerdale water knowing that I was due to start a nightshift two hours later (I was fifteen miles from home). We ended up riding down the fell through ferns and shrubs until we found a path along the river.
Thekettle’s route gets my vote.
