Back when I raced cyclo-cross “almost” properly, i had the problem of egg-beater pedals damaging the carbon soles of my shoes.
Crank Brothers did provide some absolutely useless plastic shoe protectors with pedals, so I fashioned some very similar units from thin aluminium sheeting. Nothing particularly pretty, but it worked perfectly. Only downside was it added around 2mm to the base of my shoes, but obviously this isn’t a big issue.

I can’t imagine it being hard to make yourself some with a slight angle to them.. If you have access to a vice, drill, saw and file?

Skyscanner is our go to website at the moment, but we find it’s only usefull if you have a vague idea of location.
Unless I have missed a certain part?

I’ll give the easyJet site a go!

Thanks for the replies, it’s not out me off to much! And I will certainly do a build it thread if anything happens.
I’ve got this vision in my head of a clear acrilic base that you can see the wires/circuitry through, then 3D printed components, but I’m probably getting ahead of myself!

Some really good links to look at above, I think I will start by buying a super cheap one, and see what’s going on inside. I think my biggest issue will be controlling the motor to the correct RPM, but it’s giving me some reading material.

That kickstarter looks amazing! But it’s not floating my boat quite enough..

The following article gives a little bit of hope to the Kickstarter Backers –

    Clicky[/url]

It does mention that Fitbit are purely after the software assets, and the servers + stock (+ Debt) will not be sold off.
Could mean the servers will stay active?

Stupid question: other than looking strange, does it matter massively if the rack isn’t perfectly level?

This is the best bet! I’d have no issues using it like that. Saves you making irreversible changes to something, that may need to go back one day.

Or the possibly less stupid solution –

A couple of the straight extension pieces with holes in to raise the bolts near the axle?

Can i suggest obvious (possibly stupid) solution?… Just use it like that?

Surely anything you want to use will clip on, and it only looks a few degree’s out. Saves buying a new rack or bike..

We used to live there, but have moved the other side towards Manchester/Peak district now.. Hathersage way if that means anything.

Penistone was great for us, good access to Sheffield and Leeds just like yourself, but as Steve said above the drive into Sheffield city centre is one of the worst commutes I’ve ever had to do.
I would recommend riding as much as possible, if you can.. Or you can find alternative routes, depending on which part of Sheffield you are heading into. I for example needed to be on the parkway, and depended what exact minute I left in the morning, it could be quick (but longer) to get onto the M1 and head South for a few junctions!

    Other than that, lovely place!

Cubely Hall (if thats right?) was a really nice place for drinks and food!

    Thanks for all the replies..
We have decided to just buy a port multiplier like the photo above, and see what happens.
It’s only a cheap bit of kit, so no big loss if it doesn’t work!

    Flaperon,

I have suggested exactly the same as you, or alternatively selling the base units without a HD in place.
However I have been told that isn’t an option, despite trying to persuade otherwise!

The NAS is Hot-Swappable, we checked that before thinking of this solution, so that’s a slightly positive!

    stevehine –
That’s a really good idea actually, coupled with ‘Simon_g’ mentioning the 16 port PCI cards, I am thinking 16 (max) PC’s at a time, all powered on with extensions running into the PCI card, will mean taking the HD out isn’t needed.

Could be an interesting weeks work!

    Thanks for all the replies!

I was thinking of these –

I know its not going to be the easiest or prettiest of solutions, but I was ideally thinking of speed.

Are the drives for disposal or re-use? If the former, probably quicker to destroy the platters with a hammer

Unfortunately it is for re-use, we have to completely format and provide documented proof before the whole PC’s can go through to resale.

    Cheers for the replies all.

I think the best bet might be ebay, so we can get even a small amount of value from the kit.
Thinking the best idea is probably to strip down the processors and memory, and sell it as individual parts.. These bits seem to sell pretty well online..

Then it will just be scrapping, unfortunately 🙁

    Z1ppy

we just dispose of it to a WEEE specialist (Stone in Stafford, they collect), as selling it would potentially cause too many nightmares.

Exactly what i’m thinking, but I don’t want to just scrap if it does have some value..

but is it worth the time that will be involved to sell it (or deal with the ebay idiots/returns..)

This is the key factor in our argument against ebay!!

Thanks for all the replied on this! It’s made for some interested reading.

I think we have however had a slight change of plan…
After going a test driving / looking round at a few Citroens and Renaults they didn’t quite meet our (probably too high) expectations. And I think we have decided to spend a little bit more cash, on something newer and ‘nicer’.

Now looking at 2010 (ish) Ford Transit Connect, or Renault Kangoo.
Feel free to criticize this as much as you want..

Any advice again would be great.. Seemingly as we raise the price to 3/4K the choice gets much much larger!

Ulysse – I never did hear from your mate with the Citroen?

I don’t claim to be a fantastic photographer, but this photo below makes me smile, and I was very happy with the outcome!

Story behind it – My much better half loves the film ‘Pride and Prejudice’. Hence spending an evening up on Stanage Edge trying to recreate this shot from the film – (Keira Knightley by the way)

And this was our attempt, just taken on a iPhone

    Flashes –

I would say no, not without the rear wheel out as well. I have fit a cross bike (Size 56cm), with both wheels off, but an ISP post in the back before. But no chance with the rear wheel on!

And I will cancel the transaction, does anybody know if this still allows the buyer to leave feedback?

    Thanks again

One of my favourite rides out in Majorca/Mallorca!

The busiest parts are the first and longest climb up and out of Port de Pollenca, and the decent down the other side. This seems to be the most touristy part, with a viewpoint at the first summit, and then the beach parking at the end of the decent.

After that its really lovely and peaceful, with the only slightly dangerous bit being the narrow dark tunnel.

Good cafe at the end, who do a great coffee. Then the ride back is a joy.

I find the climb up on the return is slightly harder than the ride out, but that’s just personal preference.
Cars, motorbikes and buses seem to give loads of room, so I’ve never had a problem!

    Enjoy!

It sounds like my pool games aren’t quite as serious though.

I’ve had serious issued with hayfever for as long as i can remember. Even included being in steroids for a large part of my ‘teens’.

However, I now take a version of Telfast 120, which contains the drug Fexofenadine, 120mg per tablet – And I would absolutely swear by it.
It is prescription only, but if you travel abroad (EU) its not prescription. I currently pay around £1.20 for 20 tablets, and take them from February ish on wards to build up some form of defense.

Not a snotty nose, or itchy eye in sight!

As for sticky stuff, would nail varnish remover do a similar job? Or is it a little bit over strong?

I managed to get a Large 20′. Picked it up today, thinking it would be a perfect ‘pub/doesn’t really matter’ bike but its too big.
If anybody wants it, for what I paid let me know. Ideally somewhere around Derby area as well.

    Cheers

    Afternoon..

If your on a PC –
There is a crossfade setting in Itunes that should help you out slightly. Go into Edit – Preferences – Playback and then set the crossfade slider to a certain amount of seconds and should work fine..

    On a portable device –
There isn’t a function built in, however ‘MY DJ – Crossfade for Iphone’ is free and works great!

    Good luck!
    Josh
