My other half is Polish, so we have spent a fair amount of time in the Gdansk area.. Mainly flying into and out of, but also a few nice weekends.

Gdansk itself is ok.. Just a city really, plenty of shopping, and it is super cheap (Depending on the exchange).
For meals out, Gdansk old town is a very nice place to go (Stare Miasto in Polish), the tube system is pretty good so you can get around very easily.

Couple of recommendations if I may –
If you want to stay in the centre of Gdansk try and centralise yourself around the old city, loads of great places to eat, and loads of hotels.
We found an amazing Cocktail bar, which I will try and remember!
Pod Bandera is a fantastic restaurant, if you google it you will see the area.

I would definitely recommend staying in Sopot instead of Gdansk, its a lovely quieter place with very easy links into the centre.
We stayed in a very strange hotel called Zhong Hua, a Chinese Hotel with a really nice fish restaurant next door, with amazing breakfast!

Also Molo is a really nice – Basically a really long Pier. If your interested in music, Molo is on cover of Morcheeba’s Parts of the Process album.

This has a really nice cafe/lunch stop at the end too.

Anyway I’ll stop going on. But feel free to email me for any more information!

Just realised I didn’t really answer the question –
Yes its very nice and I like it a lot! So go!

I should have added to the end of mine..

If you do that method, its not going to end particularly well. And i would guess you will end up looking for a new role anyway.

I was in a situation where I was willing to completely change my attitude to work, and the company another ‘chance’. But in the end, it made my decision to leave and start up on my own incredibly easy.. And I haven’t looked back!

I haven’t exactly had a vast working life.. But before I left work to become self employed, I had a similar situation..

I withheld multiple skills, which I was using everyday prior to being snubbed for an obvious promotion.
This got noticed, as it drastically impacted the company, which then lead to me going through various warnings, and disciplinary proceedings for ‘Not doing my job’.
Obviously within all meetings, when asked why I wasn’t completing certain tasks, my reply was simple.. “Does it say this in my contract?” or “Have I ever agreed to do this in writing?”.
From advise from multiple sources, I had every right to do this, and was well within my grounds. After the disciplinary got dropped, I left within about a week.

So in my opinion, if you have no paperwork to say you are required to do these extra tasks, then its completely your choice to do them or not.

    J

Edit – As I think I might have come across as a bit of a d**k!
I had been messed around massively over the course of 2/3 months prior to this, and kept with the company due to the promise of promotion + multiple extras.. So I was a tad spiteful after being completely looked over.

Following on from this thread – Clicky

I have got 3 Technics SP-10 MK 2 Turntables, which are fantastic bits of kit. Obviously only ever used 1, but when they came up for sale I couldn’t say no!

This is one of them –

Stupidly, I don’t have any photos of it actually in place, but I had a similar set up to this –

It did originally have a Audio Origami PU7 arm, but that got sold for a ‘downgrade’ to a SME M2 series around a year back.

Fantastic bits of kit! And Mboy is correct, anything of this age seems to be going up in value an astonishing amount!
Because of the previous sentence, this isn’t a sneaky classified add, as I wouldn’t sell these.
    (Until I have to!)

As a couple of people have said, eBay could be the place for some of the kit.
We have dealt with the comms unit on one of these before, and found a fair bit of value scattered through it.

Once we had got as much as possible the remainder went to a WEEE recycling place Mexborough (North Sheffield). Who paid around £5 per KG.

Feel free to email me a few photos of what your dad has left.. I can tell you if its similar to what we dealt with, and if it has any value..

Edit – I am not an expert in this kit at all! But happy to try and help out, even a little bit!

I’d side with Wiggles on this, I would be slightly nervous giving out my details, especially if i own a couple of higher end bikes..

If you want the bike, take somebody with you, if it helps with the funny feelings.

That username comes from way back in school! My surname is Hand, and it has nothing todo with my DIY-ability!

Z1ppy very good point, but I thought with the timescale a new one might be easier.
The problem with the current one is the fan oven bit doesn’t work.. It still works as an oven on certain settings, but the thermostat is a long way out too.

Thanks guys.. That all makes sense so far!

I’ll pull it out this evening, and have a look behind.
The only screws seemingly holding it in and just on the lip behind the door once opened. Is this it?

Coming from a IT background, I had visions of some form on sliding rack rail type set up..

I haven’t got the wheels, but I can tell you they are made by FSA.

And the MTB equivalent are ‘Formula Tubular Compatible’

I would guess they are tubeless, but i’m more than happy to be proved wrong.

Right then! These answers have made me chuckle this morning!

Bit more information – myself and my partner are around 70kg + 40 kg so we are ok..
As for the other couple, they must be pushing 110kg each. Meaning the total load on the car is around 330kg. Which is quite a lot!

I was presuming the car was struggling to pull the weight, and giving me warning from this!

My partner asked me last night while reading your replies – “oh god, what if they read this?!?”
The obvious answer was – “I can’t imagine a cycling forum is top on the list of reading material!

Someone did their sums wrong that’s 506 not 1056 which makes it rather easier as 23 is a prime factor so there’s no choice, it’s just a matter of finding whether the shapes fit.

    Its definitely 1056!

    Also Wally, isn’t that a 32×33 rectangle? And 32 x 33 is 1056?

    handyman153

    Same as Munkster –

The total area doing that method would be 1056, and i can’t work out how to make that out of those shapes..

I get incredibly bad Hayfever, it got so bad a few years back I had to have steroid injections over the summer!

However, i was prescribed Telfast tablets. Telfast was the brand, with the actual drug part being called Fexofenadine.
I have been taking 2 per week since mid February, and will continue this until May ish, when i’ll up the dose to one per day.
And i get the occasional sneeze and itchy eyes.. Thats It!

Now the slightly ‘naughty’ part.. Fexofenadine is prescription only in the UK normally at 120mg Tablets.
But I bulk buy 180MG tables from Poland, when we travel over there once every 2/3 months. With the help of a very nice pharmacist, 30 tables costs me around £4.

If you like Dell, I would go for a Dell direct offer.
My sister purchased one of the refurbished units direct from Dell a while back. And its was great!

With regards to warranty, it did also go wrong.. And it was a simple case of sending it back via a pre-paid postage system, and a brand new one turned up 5 days later!

Students also get 10% off all Dell kit..
I can order it for you if you like

    Edit –
Students can get up to 30% off HP, which makes some laptops a steal!
    Same offer as above…

I will quite happily admit to sending low offers all the time, its what the best offer function is for in my opinion.
This could make me a bad person, but I would always send an lower offer through first, even if I was happy for the BIN price. If they don’t accept, fine, i’ll just buy it anyway, and if they do accept great!

We sell an awful lot on eBay, and would expect buyers to do exactly the same back to me!

Just last night, a seller had put online a 2014 Macbook for £250. Incredibly dodgy photos, and nothing to say if it was working. After a few questions, he supplied to proof of purchase, and a screenshot of it actually powered up so I was happy.
I offered £110, and he accepted within seconds.

Does that make me cheap? Maybe….
But he wouldn’t have accepted if he wasn’t happy…

Forgive the ignorance of the following question, as it could be ridiculous!

But, if i was looking for a new car after this scheme is in place. Could I search through trader and second hand adverts for a car that fits this scheme perfectly, buy it cheap then take it to trade in and save on a new car the next day?

I’m not planning on doing this by the way. As I have a fantastic 1L Citroen C1 :).
But just thought I’d ask after reading this post.

I rode a Forme road bike for a couple of years.
Can’t remember the exact model, but it was full carbon with Ultegra build..

It was a fantastic bike, maybe a tad on the heavy side for a full carbon frame. But it rode well, and handled great.
This obviously doesn’t mean the MTB’s will be the same, but for those prices I think its a great deal!

Been drooling over the Stelbel website for the past 20 minutes!

Obviously going to be expensive, but any idea on price?

Edit… Found a vague price of $1800 for a frameset, not ‘too’ bad I suppose.

Sorry my mistake, I read GPU then typed my answer for CPU!

I think they may be our first purchase. Any recommendations?
From reading, I think I need a minimum of 2GB. But you can buy these new starting at £40, up to £400.
Whats a decent mid point to be looking at?

I am too, hence the question!

Nope the motherboard has PCI-E, the current graphics card is a PCI-E.

The only reason I was stay on AMD is if I kept the current motherboard. If I was to go for a new bundle, I don’t have any preference over the 2 brands.

Checked on the RAM, and it was transferable over to most of the bundles I have looked at. Which is a bonus.
On a side note, for gaming RAM. Is it better to have 1 x 16GB Dimm, as appose to 8 x 2GB Dimms. Or does it work out the same performance.

We’ve had one of these for the past 8 months –
    Brother HL-1110
Comes with a 700 page ‘starter’ cartridge

After that you can buy 4 x 1000 Page toners for £18.99 from here –
    Aftermarket Toners

Yes they are aftermarket, but they work fine!
I’d be surprised if you can get anywhere near 4000 pages for £18.99 from a Ink Jet!

Just to add, as i didn’t really read your original post.
We have never had any issue with crime, or found leaving the car caused any issues.
We’ve stayed in some pretty remote places, as well as some city center places, and honestly its no different to here.

Only thing we found is that the Police like to hide in funny places to catch speeding drivers. Just worth keeping an eye out.
A lot of Polish drivers have radios in the cars and send warnings out to each other.

We drove from Sheffield to a place called Elk in Poland last Christmas.. Elk is North East, and nearly on the boarder with Lithuania / Belarus.
We did Sheffield – Dover – Dunkirk – Belgium – Netherlands – Germany – Poland.

Coming into Poland on the main E30, from Berlin (German road 12). Its a fantastic road that was re-built for the Euro 2012. Just watch out for Tolls, as you have quite a few separate booths heading East towards Poznan/Lodz/Warsaw. Not particularly expensive, with the most being around 40zl (£8 ish).

Basically if you stay around the main areas and roads its pretty normal to any other countries. If you start going North you do hit a few dodgy roads (Bialystok direction). And similarly South towards Zakopane and the boarder with Slovakia. This is an absolutely amazing area though, and well worth the visit if you have time.

We have done the journey to Krakow a couple of times too. Your best bet if you want to be direct is the E30 to Lodz, then take the A1/E75 down towards Katowice, then East along the A4 into Krakow. These are nice wide roads, and super easy to get around.
If you end up wanting to travel North-East from Krakow, try to stay away from the E77. It might have been a bad day when we are travelling but it was horrid!

If you are looking for something amazing to do while your around the Krakow area, I would highly recommend a place called the Pieniny Nation Park, we got a boat/raft East along the river, with Poland to our left and Slovakia to the right. A photo for reference below –
(The guy in the hat is the guide, not me!)

I could keep on typing for absolutely hours. But i’ll stop here, if you want to ask anything though please do. My other half is Polish, and we have spent many many weeks/months driving around!

    Cheers

Thanks for the advice, that’s the route I was looking to take. But wondered about any smaller websites, or online value guides I could follow to get an idea.

Had our first look through them this evening, and we have found over 150 full sets which he was mounted and framed himself. Turns out he never displayed them anywhere, but just wanted to keep them in order and looking pretty.
Then we have around 3000 extra cards which are just duplicates of the full sets he already has.

It really took us back actually, and he got a little emotional when showing us them..

Maybe fabrication is the way forward, in my head this wasn’t going to be as ‘pretty’ ridiculous remark I know!

I have just downloaded the fusion360 program which Seosamh77 recommended, I’m determined to give it a go myself first.

However Tiim, thank you very much for your offer. I will fire the drawings over to next week when I’m back home, and see what you make of them?

Thanks again guys, this place comes up trumps again!
