Glad to help for at least 1!
The transaction that’t over 6 months, still worth finding in Paypal and seeing if it lets you start a dispute. If not contact them, we always find they are much more helpful.

As for the 3rd, i’m at a loss then!
However, if you think you can make the cash back then at least thats OK.

    Ok..

So having the story helps massively, not just asking for a ‘bit of fun’.

The 2 that are too old (depending how old?) will still be covered via the Paypal payment protection. This lasts around 6 months, find the transaction and start a dispute that way.
We have had a few disputes done towards us this way, mainly based on sizing problems. Paypal are slightly more helpful towards the seller, BUT in our 5/6 relatively low cost disputes the buyer has always come out on top.

As for the 3rd one, did the transaction still take place through eBay? Or did they cancel it to stop paying the fee from a cash payment?
If the eBay transaction is still there, I can’t see how you can’t use the system. eBay itself doesn’t only offer protection to PayPal payments, it will cover cash, B/T, even postal order.

    Does any of that help?

    Hi,

Can I ask how they are doing you over?
I sell around 1000 items a week through eBay, and as a seller I would find it incredibly hard to even think about doing somebody over.

+ For checking paypal, it has to contain all the information. And I have found it a very useful way to get in contact with buyers. More importantly to then sell to returning customers outside eBay.

+ For ringing eBay too. Depending on the route you have taken to get to the chat, it could either be a bot or a person. Either way ringing has always worked wonders for us.

I’m a tad late to the party, but if you’re anywhere near Peterborough you’d be more than welcome to put it onto our Parcelforce account.

We would pay £18 up to 30kg with a max length of 1.8meters, and insured up to £1.5k

Offers always open to anybody who may need it!

    All very good points.

I wasn’t particularly looking at this as a profit making activity. It was more trying to help out a friend without having the risk of loosing money of it came to it down the lines.

As per the UK side of things, to be honest I would probably keep the whole process over in the USA. And wouldn’t bring them back to the UK unless totally needed in the future.

My thought process was to store them safely, insured and protected for the 18 month period and then sell in the USA if it came to it.

Forgive my ignorance in this. But my first thought was the lend the cash needed without any security, which my other half pulled ‘the face’ at!

What are you using it for? Racing or riding?

As LS says, the Vitus is much better spec, but it’s only single ring up front.
Perfect for racing on, but probably not ideal for normal day to day riding.

Also, do you have any preference over the shifting system? Sram would be my first choice, but I know people who hate it!

Personally I would go for the Vitus, but I don’t think you’d be disappointed with either!

    CFH – very good points.
You’re right, the airlines don’t have any form of reward scheme. I think a smooth landing is reward enough!

I’ll look into these avios cards, I think they might be the best option.

A ‘better’ airline isn’t really an option as nobody else flies frequently to our airport of choice.

I think buying something new like that is a tad overkill, but it would do the job.

    Zwift requirements are –
    OS: Windows 7 x64 bit, OSX 10.8
    Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo
    Memory: 4GB
Graphics: 1GB dedicated GPU, or embedded Intel HD 4000/AMD R5
Hard Drive: 4GB of free space

That motherboard had Intel HD 4000 graphics, so it would be fine. It is slightly low on CPU performance, but it would work.

    EDIT –
This would easily do the job – LINK
    And it saves you £80!

Edit 2 – This would also work perfectly well – LINK
    Saved you £100 now!

Just make sure the refund is done via the eBay system, and you will get all the eBay fee’s returned.
Don’t refund via PayPal directly, as you will then struggle to inform eBay of the transaction.

Make sure you get the item back first, if you want it?

The official route is for the buyer to open a resolution asking for a refund/return then you can choose to accept and wait for the item to come back, or provide a refund and let the buyer keep the item.

    That’s about it.. Simple!

    Jamie –

I’ve done it pretty much every way I can think of.
Ethernet directly into the router, all other devices (Phones, TV, PS4, Ipads) switched off and disconnected.

I can get it to go up to around 22MBs, but that’s only happened the once and I’ve never been able to replicate it.

I spend most my days trying to get asset tags off items.. Best product yet, normal furniture polish..

Has to be Mr Sheen, Pledge doesn’t work in the same way.

Spray loads on so it coats in the white foamy stuff. Wait 10 minutes and it will come off like a charm.

Sorry for bringing this post back to life!

However, I went into my local Halfords this evening, to find loads of the 27 Piece sockets sets available for £12.50.

They aren’t available online anymore, so if anybody missed out last time let me know and I’ll grab a couple and send them out?
No profit intended, I just wouldn’t want people to miss out!

    Evening All,

I was lucky enough to get 3 of these (1/4 inch), one for me and 2 for the other guys at work.
They however have turned there noses up at them! So I’ve got 2 going spare.

    Anybody really struggling for tools?
Email in profile, and I’ll send them out tomorrow FOC!

Mods – not looking for any money on these, so I hope it’s ok to sneak a classified type add in here!

    Newrobdob –
Unsurprisingly this has been thought about! But a couple of things stop this –

1 – myself and my partner move around an awful lot with our work (self employed). So we have nowhere for it all to sit and wait for that space.

2 – its not our choice. My grandmother has asked it to all be gone, and she wants to use the money from any sales to build a small potting shed / orangery for reading under during the summer, and cultivating plants all year round. This was there hobby together, and she wants a space to do this in, meaning she needs some money to do it!

Of course there are bit we are keeping, so example some older Hornby kits which are complete and still in the box, like this one eBay link and some trains that we will keep, such as this eBay link 2 , along with a full Great Goodbye set. These along with others will never go anywhere!

You can see there is a fair amount of money sat in the above products alone, so this isn’t a selfish money making scheme, but it’s the wishes of my Grandmother who I would never dream of going against!

    Thanks all

Having a day out there today, seen as the sun is vaguely shining!

Njee20 – very useful thank you, and I will take you up on your offer and email some questions across.
One thing I am yet to work out, from the outside of the train, is it easy to work out if the sound and smoke modules have been added?

    Thanks again!

I lived on London road for a year or so, and that’s definitely the place to head for food.
Ecclesall road always seems tempting, but its basically just chains.

    If you want Thai –
Baan Thai, right at the bottom of London road is great food! Slightly posher, and a little bit more expensive than the rest of London road, but it is worth it. £22 ish P/P for a full set meal, is a great option.

    Japanese –
WasabiSaba – Walk straight past this place, and don’t even look in. Been 3/4 times, always hoping it would get better, and its dreadful!
Yama Shushi – Nice sushi, very traditional, not bad pricing.

    Chinese –
Noodle Inn – People rave about this, and it is great traditional chinese food. Decent pricing, big portions.
Satay Yo Beer – Great food, good beer. What more could you want?

    Vietnamese –
Saigon 68 – Great food again, decent sized portions. Good choice.

However I would go with Mowgli!
Zeugma is amazing food! We go all the time (probably too much!).
2 Zeugma’s on London road, both close-ish to the bottom. And both pretty much identical.
    Go!!

New tub on a clean rim..

    I would say 2 x 30g tubes per wheel..

The first 1/2 layers of glue on the tub will just soak in, and you need a base layer on the rim..

That was for cyclo-cross though. And I never rolled a tub!

Take loads of different photos, great description and get it on eBay..

Might be a hassle, but if you’re not sure of the value, it’s the best thing to do.

Start it at 99p, put a reserve if you want, then sit back and watch! 🙂

Do you know any students, or teachers?
They can get up to 10% off, I think you’ll struggle to find better.

I’m more than happy to buy it for you, but it will take a couple of days longer, due to having to ship to me, then to you..

To add to the above – I have offered this before on a HP/Dell laptop thread, and got to Dell laptops for STW members via the student discount.. Hopefully that’s not breaking any rules! 🙂

Gmail… Simple as, I wouldn’t even consider using anything else..

All my own domain emails come through the Gmail suite too

Too add a reason – Its super easy to access anywhere, the new Gmail app is great! And it seems secure, identifying new location log-ins and computer ID’s, which is useful when working in multiple different locations

We always use Parcel Monkey, and they seem to be the cheapest company by far..

They will do UPS, TNT, DPD and Parcelforce all of which are good choices.
If you want to drop the parcels off go for Parcelforce (Post Offices), or DPD which is just random shops like Matalan.

A quick look which a parcel weighing 2KG (1.5KG + packaging) would cost you £7.14 via DPD or £9 via parcelforce.

How much are the items worth?
We use Hermes for anything up to £50 (ish), and have 1 issue in every 250 parcels… They really aren’t that bad!

Don’t use DX – We have had many issue with them, and would always pay £2 extra to use a more reputable company

Right then.. Carpet cleaner it is..

We considered the other suggestions, but I really think it’s to bad to do it by hand..

I’ve been reading a mumsnet (help!) thread about using Persil instead of the rediculously expensive Rug Doctor detergents..
Anybody got any experience using this??

My collection of first day covers my granda bought us kids faithfully for years…

    This!
I’ve got every single one from 1971 – 2002 sat under my desk.. including the postcard versions (can’t remember the proper name for these now)
    A couple are worth a few £££, but literally 2 or 3!

Such a shame, as my grandpa collected them, certain it was a good investment!

My partner and I will only drink the Lactose free milk now, and whenever we have a ‘normal milk’ coffee out, we feel bloated and sick.

I do think I have made myself this way, as I never used to have the issue. And after moving in with my partner it was easier to just by the Lactose free milk and nothing else.

Regarding the exercise, it not something I would ever relate to it. We find it makes us feel slow and lazy, but I wouldn’t say we get any physical pains anywhere other than in the stomach.
I should add, the gas it pretty terrible too!

I’m not the best person to advise, as i’m not looking at this from a truly medical point of view.

    Thanks

You can get DT Swiss Competition Straight Pull Spokes in 307mm.

It does look like a special order job, and its pretty expensive but –
    Clicky[/url]

They do have them as a 2-7 days special order option.

I can’t see any reason not to use those, they will be slightly different to the stock spokes. But should be fine!

Edit – Loads of places on eBay selling 306mm versions in the UK. From my wheel building days, you would be fine with a single mm shorter.

Thanks for the replies, I spent last night and this morning reading about the regular savings accounts, and now the Help To Buy ISA’s.

We are being pretty strict with ourselves regarding spending, especially on frivolous things. So i think we have that side of things sorted.

Slackboy – The accounts you have linked seem good, as we don’t really want to enter into any risk.
After reading about the peer-peer lending, you as the lender seem to hold a lot of the risk yourself, which doesn’t sound appealing at all.

The Help To Buy ISA sounds great, but my concerns are as follows –
We aren’t 100% set on buying here in the UK, as my other half is Polish. So for the price of a decent deposit on a house in the UK, we can buy a house cash back in her home town. And moving over there is something I am definitely open too.
My worry is that we throw all our money into a ‘HTB ISA’, then at the end of the saving period, make a decision that doesn’t get any of the benefits!

Thanks for the help though, its a minefield of different options!

Not 100% sure what you mean..

But I have uninstalled and installed steam multiple times, on multiple machines, and the games purchased through steam will always be available through the same user account.

What do you mean by ‘Tidy up the drives’?
Surely this can be done without uninstalling steam..
