    Revive – worst post ever.

Probs from day one with stickiness.

    Fixed by sending away….went sticky….fixed locally…..went sticky….given up

I went onto JT Racing gloves……really nice….but they seem to have disappeared (the brand, not my gloves)…..so back to Fox 🙂

“It’s only around 1,600m climbing for two laps IIRC, and the 60km distance is fine with a hearty lunch at the visitor centre in the middle.”

After 3 hrs of red/black in the rain I have never felt motivated enough…..like the idea of climbing the hill in the backdrop though 🙂

“There’s so much better at Ae to waste excess energy on than Omega man.”

Unless you don’t know where it is……will try harder next time 😉

Fair play to anyone throwing a 2nd lap of Kirro in. We usually take a trip in November and after a Red/Black at Kirro (usually in rain or snow)….we are usually all spent!

Mabie and Ae are so different IMHO.

Mabie is great little start or finish to a long weekend as only fairly short but nice and flowy (when its all open). Great little skills area too.

Ae is has a great ending (Omega Man) and a couple of other quality long descents. And a nice black rated north shore section too.

If I had a full day, and weather was fair, I would do both. Mabie first, Ae second – and any excess energy spent on a repeat of the Omega Man.

Great frames – just got a BfeMAX for my daughter……In Rentons partial defence the non-drive side cup went in fine……the drive side cup took significant more effort to turn the spanner…….

Both in, in situ however…..I hope.

    🙂

If you want a week…then book 5….2 for the required isolation and then take your week…then 2 more for isolation on return 🙂

Zefal ones are pretty poor quality vs the RF.

I just got All Mountain ones…..no idea if they will fit yet but I just trimmed the RF ones that I had so that they did work – – and pop them in some hot water to help a but too 🙂

So is the ‘standard’ C2C waymarked and close to idiot proof…..I have a Garmin 1000 and managed the SDW so hoping that best case it is something like that?

Looks like Whitehaven to Sunderland is most common?

So does 2 days make it more ‘sponsor-able’ or is that biting off too much of the fun element?

Well it was wetter than expected!!

First 30 miles were muddy with a couple of swamps on the lower or ‘bowled’ ground…..was soaking after 10 miles 😀

Dried up for the second half, just as the saddle seemed like it was coated in 60 grit!!

Miles 55-75 seemed to take forever…..but not as long as the 3h20 train back to Winchester.

Not sure I will do it again, now that I have done it once.

    Thanks for the tips,
    Mark

Does anyone have a decent gpx that they could send me please? I have one on the Garmin already but when i did it last year (2 days) it was a little erroneous…..thanks

So you are saying it won’t be fine then?? As there will only be one day of dryness (according to weather reports)

Great tips and feedback from everyone – thanks.

Has the rain stopped and loitered over the SDW today? If so, does it change the conditions and should any attempt be deferred accordingly? 🙂

    Thanks

Hmm. So possible thunderstorms (not thunderburts) on Tues & Wed. But dry thereafter….still likely to an OK ride?

    I’m with colp, Saalbach/Hinterglemm/Leogang is great……

X Line is awesome although I have never tried the final drop…..just one just before it 🙂

Z line is great – but closed this year. Bergstadl Trail is awesome.

Leogang is great but far too DH for me…..still worth going though as plenty of options. And a great local beer. I forget the name.

Would probs stay in Saalbach as oppose Leogang……

I would also heartily recommend a trip up the Kitzsteinhorn and a ride down that too (30mins away in Kaprun)

Some tough enduro type tracks in Leogang…..some boring (if skills are like mine) jumpy & DH bits too……Saalbach ‘Big 5’ which includes some of the tracks in Leogang, is a must too.

Saalbach Hackelburg & Bergstadl Trails are always the highlights for me 🙂

    Where is that ridgeline, Postierich?

    handybendyhendo

    Yup – very easy.

Monsal to the ‘end of the trail’ / Blackwell Mill. Up and over the tops to the High Peak…….then take a right fork onto Tissington……should take you to Hartington. Or take one of other signposted routes off the trails to Hartington…..footpaths though 🙂

Are they the ‘stock’ tyres it comes with?

I am considering getting the 700c and then using a ‘spare’ set of Hope Hubs as a secondary set (so I can have option of slicker and nobblier) – do you know if this is possible?

Was it as light as you had expected/hoped?

What size / how tall are you?

    🙂

    Cheers
