I recently read a book called “Rest – why you get more done when you work less” – very interesting, even people like Darwin weren’t typical workaholics, and took long “sabbaticals”.
I would certainly be in favour of a four day week, bring on the robots.

Ive not left the house for two days, staying in bed for most of it, Im not ill, but I feel no guilt at all.
Rest is the most important thing in the world.

Getting into Palestine for a day-trip isn’t like catching the ferry to bologne.
But yeah, tel aviv is great, I’d base myself there – near the beach in an airbnb flat – and probably go to Jerusalem for a day on the train.
Food is excellent. People are interesting. And there are plenty of Israelis who disagree with the political situation.

Your energy levels should be very depleted if youve got the lurgy bad in which case you will soon know after a mile or so of riding.

At least the “Binge Gamer” should be a bloody good shot.

A friend of mine was a “Brossette” and she tells me back in the day the fights between various Brossette factions in South London make the Chelsea Headhunters look like schoolboys.

AIBU to think mumsnet spells the end of western civilisation?
I do however like the way they give little bunches of flowers to each other.
Could we do the same with inner tubes?

Read Mumsnet “Relationships” threads over xmas and I’m surprised anyone is still married.
If a man stays in the pub for an hour longer than promised there is a cacophony of “Leave him” – bloody heck!

Tiger Woods and Seve were the only golf players who could be labelled anything near cool; but one is dead and the other struggles to hit the ball straight these days.
Peter Cook played golf but said he typically despised the average golfer he met on his rounds.
I used to play a lot – single figures at age 15 – and met some really good people, typically the coaches, but the whole vibe is very formal, more like a private members club. They did try to reach out to the yoof a bit when i was young but not for a sustained period of time.
Id also mention another reason – boys typically start playing with their dads. Now a lot of boys don’t see their dads so much due to work or divorce.

Yep golf clubs are suffering, they over-expanded in the 90s and early 2000s on the back of interest in Tiger Woods.
Golf is too elitist and a very hard game to play, a new place has opened up near me with things like golf football to try and rekindle interest in the game, but I think it’s golden era is over.
Lots of golf courses will be turned into housing estates.

Yep pretty much no alcohol, still quite a few calories though I think, so you don’t necessarily lose a beer gut if you exchange it for the real stuff.
I think there would be a huge opportunity for low alcohol beers but a lot of pubs don’t want to stock them as they obviously get their money from getting people drunk and easy with the cash.

No. I often go on the Bavaria for a break from the real stuff. Lime and soda water also good but not so much for winter time.

Perhaps also the new powers-at-be at Arsenal have a policy of deliberately bringing down the wage-bill – which started to get out of control in the last four years, especially Ozil.
Maybe looking over at their north london neighbours wage-bill with envy…

A combination of the player wanting more dosh and the manager not too bothered about fitting the player into his style of play.
I thought he was excellent for Wales in the last Euro tournament, but for Arsenal he seems to be a form player, who can be anonymous at times, brilliant at others. He did manage to come back from that awful injury so obviously mentally very tough too.
The gooners are going to end up with no British players at all.

I had the gastric bug the night before I had to fly back from Spain. Fireworks at both ends.
They will make a film about how I summoned the courage to get on the plane and it will win many oscars as a tale of bravery and risk (I took a bin bag onboard with me).

Fireworks outside have finally stopped so I can now watch “Roy Shaw – Brute Force” in peace.

The thing is, deliberately tripping up someone on the stairs is very dangerous – plenty of people break their necks and die, and everyone knows this. It’s not like throwing a tantrum, it’s something more than just acting up.

I think there are a lot of mild chest infections around this year. I have one and it is proving a sod to get rid of. I’ve been bed bound for a few days but none of the usual aches and pains you associate with the flu, just a rotten cough that has me standing up wheezing my lungs out every hour or so.

Biggest first world problem ever – I’ve got the lurgie, proper coughing fits, but I am also booked into a hotel spa for three nights. I’m bed-bound and can’t use the pool, and the toilet is broken…
On the plus-side, Ive discovered a funny Bill Bryson-esque writer on Amazon, Alan Laycock, so am reading about his interesting adventures and new life in sunny spain.

If your near Euston the Somers Town Coffee House could be worth a visit – it’s a pub, not sure if its open mind.

Lynx is useful if you pop to the pub at lunchtime and don’t want the office to know when you get back. However, it also suggests you are a cheap bloke.

Smelly stuff – lacoste – not a smell i go for really, but a nice little bottle.

My friend’s ex partner, who is originally from China, has taken the kids with her to “see her family” and he’s not sure if they are ever coming back. Rough.

Went to sisters for lunch, normally a quiet sedate affair, but they now have a mad dog that wouldn’t stop jumping on me. Then the mad bad relatives turned up, and it was time for me to go.

Also lost a contact lense last night, it is somewhere on my bedroom floor or bed, so I have to tread very carefully until (or if) I find it.

I went back to bed to try and shake off my hangover (topped off with a moody kebab last night).
Now off to my sister’s for lunch, hoping her family isn’t acting up and the wine is ok.
