Now who’s being an arse? This is about being on the road and committing an offence

Yes, but what you are suggesting is punishing someone for cycling offences by penalising their license for driving a car.

EXACTLY! So you’re saying you have exemption from the Road Traffic Act 1958 because you are a cyclist? What makes it ok to commit an offence ON THE ROAD yet have zero repercussions? Because your are a cyclist it’s now ok is it? Drive to work and do the same as on your bike and see how long you keep you freedom let alone your license!

I’m not “being an arse” – that makes no sense.

Makes perfect sense – on the road – liable for any offense REGARDLESS OF MANNER OF TRANSPORT.

Apart from the obvious legal issues, and the obvious difficulty of enforcing it (i.e. identifying cyclists/bikes), what about folk without driving licenses? Will they just not be allowed to cycle on the roads then?

Why not? If you choose to cycle on the road then why should you not expect to be punished for breaking those rules in place. There are enough cameras to easily identify persistent offenders, police/CSO’s to enforce and fine and if you keep doing it then why shouldn’t that “right” be taken from you?

Has nothing IMHO to do with “petrol head” but simply enforcing the rules. There isn’t one rule for motorists and another for cyclists in the Road Traffic Act………..

one of the biggest things they could do is introduce penalties for cyclists in line with those of other road users.

I’m pretty sure most of the things you mention are offences for all road users. – They well may be but its ignored and its not prosecuted at all.

daily cyclists who ignore red lights
If you can get behind the paywall you may enjoy this article in The Times:
“If it’s safer to run a red light on a bike, I’ll carry on doing it: Cyclists can’t be expected to abide by a law that makes them – at times – less safe” (Lech Mintowt-Czyz, The Times, 9th Feb 2012)

Its a red light – deal with it the same as everyone else on the road

points on their car license
?? How would that work??
Easily – more points leads to increased insurance and/or a ban

Can we also put point on car licenses for other non-car offences like shoplifting?
Now who’s being an arse? This is about being on the road and committing an offence – you want to be on the road then you obey the rules the same as everyone else has to. If you choose to ride/drive ON THE ROAD then tough sh*t if you don’t like the consequences of breaking the rules.

God forbid that anyone one a “cycling forum” would accept that their “right” to be on the road could have responsibilities to their actions.

IMHO – one of the biggest things they could do is introduce penalties for cyclists in line with those of other road users.
Boils my p*ss watching how many cyclists – daily cyclists who ignore red lights, junctions, paths, solid white lines, etc and just do what they want with impunity.
See how long that lasts if they get on the spot fines, points on their car license, etc – not very methinks….

GoPro’s are good but the competition are better now.
The HD-Max extreme is the same hardware BUT with a faster software, screen, rotatable lens so it’s always the right way up, remote, etc….
Contour is the same hardware too and the Drift.
GoPro were the first to give anything approaching HD which is why they are so popular and the BBC, etc have them (buying in bulk) BUT having worked with production companies that use them, they ALWAYS use 2 side by side because they have a habit of not switching on, switching off, not the right view (can’t see it to set it up), etc so it’s very worthwhile looking around at what your money gets you.
The different “types” is their response to the fact that the others all come with every mount where the GoPro never used to and you then had to pay more money to sort that out afterwards – look at another £80 for the screen, another £100 for the “wi-fi pac”, the fact they can’t be used at the same time.
For the money they want for the new HERO 2 – I’d be looking at something slightly different.
We now use the POV HD for everything – work and play, more money but as its software based there is never any redundancy on new models/more features/etc. Full 1080p, 60fps, screen, mic, etc. Broadcast quality and used in Afghanistan by the Military EGT and specialist police teams here.
The BBC are now going over to the HD Max too on replacements as it’s easier to set up, screen, lens, external mic, wp without needing a seperate back.

No comeback on a “private to private” sale.
He should of viewed in daylight or used a 3rd party such as the AA/RAC.

Get a small 1kva generator – around £100-200 and run everything off that.
Keep an eye out on fleabay as the “whisper” types pop up often.
A water butt will stink if you don’t use the water often enough so I’d get a rolling one form the caravan shop and takes 20lts as and when you need it.

Seen them last week here – you’ll need to buy the t-bolts to go into the groove but they are stupidly cheap and available in the “spare parts” section here on roofracks.co.uk (the importer).
They’ve actually stopped doing the aerobars now as these have replaced them.
The new slide bars look bloody good too! Here

I’ve had the 320d, 520d and now the 330d.
The 2 , 2lts were great on fuel, went forever but the 330d puts a smile on my face every time I drive it.
Change of business very soon means it’s being replaced with a Maxi-Life DGS so I don’t have to run 2 vehicles.
Other than that – just watch out for wishbone rear bushes and tyres on the staggered alloys.

Reasonable force allows the “laying on of hands” if so required to remove a trespasser from your property.
The owner or his agent can “remove” you at any point under “tort of trespass”.
If that is a “guiding hand” or being physically picked up and carried off it matters not.

They rotate, it’s all off the floor to prevent moisture transfer and the stuff burns forever!

It’s not that they are “bad” but that others have got considerably “better”.
Because they are aimed at “trade”, you won’t get the guarantees that you will get with Ikea. (you won’t with ANY of the others tbh!)
If you are buying enough from them, then the discounts can make it worthwhile BUT it comes down to how much you want to do yourself.
The Oak Breakfast Bar I got from them needed multiple coats of treatment, loads of preparation, and STILL needs more care than the 3 I got from Ikea and fitted at the same time.
Ultimately – you’re not going to compete with the global buying power of the likes of Ikea and we win on price/quality because of it.

Lexmark X6690.
Ink is reasonably cheap, does everything I need and it’s Wi-fi enabled so you don’t need to hook it up to a pc.

Either Regus as above or look at the likes of Big Yellow Storage – they offer offices in their storage depots.

Howdens are shocking for their prices and their guarantee is crap.

We used Ikea for our kitchen – less than half the price, better quality and a 20yr guarantee! The Oak worktops made Howdens look like the rip-off they are even with having a trade account. We got 3 from Ikea, better quality, longer, etc for less than 1 breakfast bar from Howdens.
Forget about any of the “Price Match” crap from Wickes, Homebase, B&Q, etc – they won’t – they make sure their stores are actually within range of Ikea, etc as they can’t compete in the real world. We tried with ALL of them and they actually refused.

Bathstore for the bathroom – waited for one of the sales though and got everything we wanted including a Whirlpool bath for less than the likes of B&Q or Homebase.

Base work is the most important part.
I sourced all the wood off a guy on Ebay – 38mm decking for less than Wickes 22mm delivered!
5×5 mts will all the joists, screws, deck planks, etc – £550 delivered to the door.

If it’s anything like how the “class” Motorcycle accidents then it’s a load of b*llocks!

Serious injury in a Car/Van/etc – where hospital TREATMENT is required amounting to an overnight stay or longer.

Serious injury on a Motorcycle – where hospital VISIT is required amounting to a stay over 4hrs regardless of whether there was treatment or not.

How the hell is that the same?

I bet a large number of those cyclists may well be manhole/pothole/ice/etc incidents with no other person/vehicle involved but will be included to “beef up” the figures.
After all – there are Lies, Damn Lies and Statistics……….

You can’t add VAT to something you haven’t reclaimed on – period.
You are only obliged to add VAT if you have reclaimed the portion YOU paid out originally.
Also IF you didn’t pay then none can be added as this is actually an offence in the same way reclaiming VAT NOT paid out is.

Mark – you just answered my question!
Was really pissed when looking that I’d have to pay another £2.99 for the app when I’m subscribed already here – but seems really dumb that they expect payment from you guys – surely the digital subscription is part of the same thing from Pocketmags?

“Sold as Seen” is only valid from one trader to another – they are deemed to be “knowledgeable”, it’s an offence to supply a vehicle to a private individual on those terms.

Ban “Paypal Gift” requests!
If you’re selling something then expect to be charged for the transaction taking place – after all they are processing all the payments on your behalf!
That way the seller HAS to use recorded delivery if they want protection and also the buyer can’t fake not receiving it either.
Ends scamming.

Far better quality than the breakfast bar we got from Howdens and we got 3 from Ikea for the same money as the one from Howdens!

Depends if you want the freeview element or not.
I have Sky and a Samsung DVD/DVR – will “talk” to the tv if it has freeview and record from the EPG, 180hrs of recording space, etc.
I actually bought another for the spare tv but then the kids bust the tv so its sat in its box never used since.
