Cheers guys, looks like a pattern is emerging here. Frame first then go from there?

Think it will be mostly second hand stuff. What parts would you buy new?

cheers Rob, yeah, I am leaning towards that. Also I can buy bits each month and make sure they are correct and the best.

    Thanks again.

    All thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Dalby for sure out of the two. I took some noobs there and they loved it. Not sure they would have liked Stainburn it is too short and some bits quite tough.

If Gisburn is not too far that is perfect for noobs with some great blacks.

    Let us know what happens!

Well, well, well…I didn’t expect that!!

Just got back after a game of cricket (I got a duck but won!) 8 beers and a comment from the Mrs saying I like my mates more than her! (oops, i was late!)

I appreciate all the input. This really is a sore subject. I need to try and then I can really get stuck into the debate!

“Why would you leave testing/trying something until your bodies too knackered to use it well?
Try one you might like it, as mentioned there lots of different type and they all handle/feel different. Kinda like HT’s really eh?”

Good point, hopefully not too knackered but more in need of comfort?

Yeah I really like the connection of the hardtail with the terrain. I also worry if I do try one I’ll convince myself I’ll need one!?

My riding tends to be local blasts, trail centres and lond dales rides.

deejay, I’ve done that Middlesmoor lane in Febuary when it was sheet ice going down! I was going so fast I didn’t dare to break until I hit rough enough ground. I got to the bottom and thought god that was dangerous but it was f&^%*ng amazing. Swaledale looks superb.

Thanks guys just what I was looing for..

Whilst driving to the lakes, raining, dark and ex driving. She went to overtake thinking it was dual carrigeway (it wasn’t). We had just pulled out of a service station and I was eating some crisps. I looked up to see a lorry barreling down, I pulled the wheel to swerve back, hit the barriers rolled and landed on our roof. Had to crawl out of the window. I wasn’t wearing a seat belt! Bruises only, police said very lucky.

    Always your seat belts kids!

Tree house, Thailand – ko Chang 2004

Lovely decked area chilling in hammocks and smoking. Rooms for £1 a night. Green squid curry for breakfast, washed down with a beer followed by a swim. Alright.

The Pately Bridge classic is worth a shot, couple of hours of nice Dales scenery.

Yeah, I explained that I bled them myself but the power faded. I also mentioned it again when it was ‘fixed’. But he said alot of air came out and they would be fine. Another mechanic was in today and it seems he got to the root of the problem?

O.K, the bloke at the LBS just rang apparently he needs to replace the piston seal as fluid is escaping under high pressure. £7.99 he quoted for the part. Hope this helps.

By the way, he charged £15 for the original bleed. What do you guys think is fair for him to charge me, seeing as though I had to return the next day with the same problem?

Hmmm, if this is common problem do you think Avid will sort them out/replace? If so how long are they guaranteed for?

    regards

    Hi Henry,

This is mad, I had the exact same problem yesterday and took them to the shop to be bled. Shock, the problem returned. I am taking the bike back in this morning for them to look at it again. Sorry this doesn’t help but I’ll feedback tonight once it is returned. (it is driving me mad!)

My mate whilst powering down at Dalby had to slam on as a massive Stag ran across the trail. He said the horns and rippling muscle is still etched on his brain! About 1 metre from being skewered!

    I laughed very loudly

    Hi,

I have been lurking on here for a few months now. I saw this post so thought it would be a good one to bump for me. I have lived in Harrogate all my life and basically blasted the Nidd all that time. 10 years off for the usual party antics and now I am back.

These other areas around the gate sound brilliant. Anyone keen for evening blasts around the area it would be cool to meet. I have a cheap Specialized but my fitness is fine.

    easy
