I had a glass and a half of wine on Sunday night. Slept awfully, felt tired, sluggish and had a headache until tea time. Time is catching up with me and it is simply not worth it to me anymore. I still love a few beers and I hope to keep alcohol out of the house.

Agreed. I think something that is pink and tells the time is a win!

Daily dog walk. Half an hour to an hour. Ride for 3-5 hours on a Saturday morning. Couple of short mid week rides.
Making Sunday Roast with some tunes on. Bliss.

Can anyone recommend any transport companies to take us plus our bikes from the airport please?

Some great information thank you. Get the point about the heat in June but work and family commitments force this month. Plenty of cafe stops I suppose!

Fantastic. If you could share some routes that would be really appreciated. Anything from 50 to 100 miles would be ideal.

Do we think weed will ever be sold legally in th U.K. I think it is only a matter of time.

Great video. I remember listening to Oasis for the first time when I was 14 or 15 I think. Just fantastic timing for me and it shaped mine and mates lives.

How much extra is it? After tax does it make a significant difference. Personally if I was happy doing what I’m doing and comfortable I wouldn’t want to manage people.

I really feel for you OP. I hope you can enjoy the fresh air again. Breathe deeply, smile and enjoy not being in work.

I had an awful manager years ago. A terrible man and on my back constantly. I phoned up one day and said I won’t be working for you again. I walked in and handed back my car and laptop that day. Whilst he was going through the formalities he told me to get him a coffee. I simply laughed and walked out. Felt amazing and free outside. I was in a fortunate position where I could move in with my folks for a while whilst I got sorted.
That summer I painted fences all day and it was amazing albeit temporary.

This experience has always taught me to have an escape route planned/safety net in place.

I did some off-road travelling in Australia and it was utterly mesmerising. I was 20 at the time and not really understanding what I was undertaking. Turns out camping/travelling in the outback everyday for a month is pretty inspirational.

Regarding Bucket-list being terminal. We are all terminal right. No need to bring a light hearted thread down.

Those of you that have retired. Is there anything you’d do differently? Or any advice to those of us still working?

It’s all about balance for me. I could do nothing and retire a few years earlier if I wanted. No fun in that though if I’m sat in my house and not going out.

Yeah if you’ve no plans to spend the 25% pcls. Then might as well leave it in a very tax efficient wrapper.

I’ve been planning for retirement since age 25. Now 43 and the concept is becoming real which is quite strange. I’ve tried to balance spending and saving but feel I can dial back saving now. Investment returns should see me have enough at age 55. Plan is to carry on saving into ISAs more so I can bridge over to pension from around 50. I’ll probably reduce hours significantly at 50 or change career.

I think we’ll see decriminalisation at some point in the U.K. Not smoked weed for ages but if I could pop to the shop for an edible on a Friday night to chill out I might once in a while.

Amazes me how many younger folk are into Coke and I see it everywhere in my town. Obvious trips to the toilet etc. Dealers mass marketing via WhatsApp etc. Easier than ordering a pizza.

Thanks for all the input sorry I’ve been away.
My road bike at the moment is a Trek Emonda. It’s been great but now feels ok. I ride weekends with a mate for 50-80 miles and during the week. One trip abroad riding somewhere nice in Europe. That’s it, no racing anymore, no chain gangs anymore. Simply just enjoying the ride. That’s why I fancy something different that’ll really enjoy.

I’m in Harrogate and not thought Prologue would do Enigma. Nice.

“Wout and Alaphillipe continue to be the coolest cats in the Peleton.”
    Agree, very classy.

I’m really enjoying it and such a great insight into how elite sportspeople deal with disappointment. Some very large egos but that is common in many sports at the highest level.

I’m assuming this series will run and run. Hope so.
