I’m still interested but having done only 2 or 3 rides in the last month after injury I am feeling my way back.

After tonights group thash I may know more, but 3 hilly is probably my worst nightmare when I am ready, and feels like a step too far for the third ride of the year.

If its still viable, barring a setback, I will be in the following week.

You also have to use a better subject title – otherwise your thread gets skipped by people who are already losing the will to put up with it.

I’ve given up using the site (and only this site) from my Linux box now, as it drives it mad, have to use mac. Any other site, no noticeable issues.

You can also start with SOARE if you want to swap a T for another vowel.

By not using any of the letters you discover on the first guess as part of the 2nd guess, you can normally get very close if not exact on the third.

So sorry to hear that, we lost our 14 year old fox terrier a few years ago, and then 9 months ago her daughter. It’s a very tough decision but ultimately you know it is the right one.

We are not ready to have another for a while, but we have found much comfort in becoming dog sitters for friends and family for a week or so at a time. Dogs are the absolute best at giving love.

Yes, was getting ad-click jacking on my old linux desktop, although not on macOS.

Glad its not me – that is the kind of thing that will be the straw that breaks the camels back for me, if it keeps happening.

@bruneep – that looks like a poorly formatted tech-support@singletrackworld.com, although that is also not the e-mail on the contact us page

Stoke born and stoke bred, strong in arm and thick in ‘ead.

Spent the first 20 years there, and the remaining 36 going back to visit family.

Don’t listen to the haters, the people are great, despite the brexit monikers.

However, it is *very* deprived – was back there are the weekend and so much has been flattened and not been rebuilt. There are few job opportunities, and that breeds despair and crime.

There are plenty of places outside Stoke, but there is no where posh, except parts of Trentham. Traffic is always heavy. I personally would look to the countryside just outside, maybe south of trentham towards stafford for a special house, there is not going to be a special magic area. Maybe somewhere between Weston Coyney and Werrington or towards Leek, Wetley Rocks etc.

See you in the New Year – have a great xmas.

I’ve just got round to Day 6 – lanternfish. I assume it’s going to need some kind of clever coding to cater for part 2 to not make my laptop go pop?

Don’t think about fish, think about where they go to learn.

I’m just catching up – spent FAR TO LONG on the second half of day 12.

I was getting all the right answers for the test cases, but the wrong final answer for the real test data, which was a bit miffy as that was the first wrong answer submitted.

Spent half an hour looking at the code changes for p2 which were about 5 lines, only to find the true problem was a single line route length sanity check right out of the way I put in last night when I started it and mocked up the recursive search function, and the p2 changes made routes much longer than that, but all the test data was fine.

    Doh. On to day 13.

Hoping to have some time this weekend to catch up, have chosen to try VS Code (vim for the win normally).

Finding a new editor heavier going than I would hope, am I so slow with it, and I haven’t got the perl debugger working either, so there is no advantage !.

    Friday 10th December
Friday Post-Work Sprint Race – 16:30 – 2 Laps of the Innsbruckring (this is in Zwiftpower as a race)

How does this work, you just cruise around between the sprints ? Not done this before.
And its time through the sprint rather than first across ?

Oh dear – I posted the wrong AoC STW code a few minutes ago – apologies if you joined and then get booted from our work leaderboard.

I have created a STW leaderboard, where we can all revel in our lack of effort.

Its the end of no-effort November, into born-to-be-mild December.

The correct code is, scouts honour checked it a few times now, 502307-275d7a99

    Thanks

    Urgh, climbing.

We shall be having a big lads party at the rear with mince pies every 5k and a little sit down picnic half way up the final climb.

@jimmy – post code if you are stuck, probably something very simple.

I cocked my first few attempts up by not using strict in perl and mistyping a variable name – noob.

@giggsmaster there should be an invite on the first page of companion, and there is a clubs option at the bottom. Check companion up to date and you have been sent an invite ?
    On iphone or android ?

Dear imaginary biking friends, please include me in your club.

I shall bring imaginary mince pies to our first event.

I like the crit city races, and chase races – not sure if the club setup allows chase races, but we could impose our own start times.

Do we have a motto ?

    Cheers, Ant.

Perl is my natural language of choice I guess, having used it for a few sites over the years but mostly backend processes these days. I can’t remember the last time I bought a programming book, despite being addicted in my youth – probably something on WAP.

I just made a long list of all the languages I’ve used, and realised they are nearly all no longer used, , with the exception of c+variants and java/python, everything else back to algol/fortran is just about defunct. ICI is used ony at <work>, and almost no where else.

Also out, my booster set for today (Weds) has been bumped to Thurs, probably wise to sit it out.

I’m in, hopefully using ICI as that’s our language of choice at <work>, don’t @ me.

    Failing that, perl.

Perhaps a balancing issue – close all the valves on the other radiators, and open (set high) the valves on the suspect ones, this will force your pump to put all its efforts into your suspect ones. The results of that test determine what you do next..

    IANAP.

I’ve just done the same thing on mine, bought two cold ones back to life.

Managed to hold the front bunch for longer than expected, think got separated after the volcano.

Ended up fighting for the hotly contested 20th place with Declan/Simon/Joe/Owen.

Somehow in the desert Declan pulled away and despite our attempts at a half-assed TTT stayed away. We got a hurry up from the chasing bunch of Stumpy/Neil Arnold near the end of the desert, and I got red mist and tried to catch Declan but eventually got hauled back in, and we four manned it the whole way to the last 1k, where we still managed to not catch Declan.

Respect to all, ahead and behind.

Managed 20th on the road, and 12th for average power. Going to have a brew and a few biscuits while I think on that.

On ATV go to the App Store -> Purchases (even though its free) or Installed, find Zwift and hit Update.

If there is no Update check the version number (1.19 I think) it might have auto-done it.
If that doesn’t work then yes, delete and re-install, make sure you know your zwift account details…..

TT bike crossed my mind also. 🤔

They can’t draft you if they can’t catch you.

Thanks all for shepherding me round – was just about done at the top.

I think my fitness is improving a little.

After the update to ATV and before the event I wasn’t able to update my weight on Zwift, which is down a kilo, I couldn’t get the remote to go to my name, so that was a bit of a bummer. Might be a bug or finger trouble, hard to tell with the atv remote.

I understand there is an update for Neokyo – not sure if you are forced to have it, I’ll be updating the ATV in good time.

Hope to be facing the right way on the line..

I’ll choose my best climbing bike, and yes, steady as she goes suits me better than ramming speed on the hills.

I plan to hold on until I can think of an excuse that is convincing enough to land.

If I say that I’m going outside and I may be some time, thats a code.

I don’t know what my best time is up there, but I’m sure it will be slower than yours.

    Hills, urgh.

I opted for the optimum climbing bike since thats where I go backwards – can’t say it made much difference.

I hung on to @retrorick each time he steamed through for as long as I could, but I was gassed on the final climb, and Neil Arnold pulled away. Did my best to keep them both honest to the finish.

Did manage yet another massive FTP increase, 257 -> 258 and the much coveted 20th spot, 9th sorting by power alone – get the wins where you can !.

I’d jump in, but I’m waiting for the B team to rise once again!

    All hail the B’s !

It’s great that we ride as one team, but I am very aware that I am holding others back when I am struggling on the hills.

I prefer to go as hard as I can for as long as I can and then drop off to let the remainder leave it all on the road. I’m quite happy with that approach, but in general we always want to finish as a team, which puts me off joining, because I can see from the Tues night results just how quick some are, and I want them to have just as hard a workout as I’m having, so I’m conflicted !.

Last week being a flat course I could just about hold on with enough shouted encouragement, but on a hilly course I will be even more in the red.

I’m hoping that with the nights now drawn in, a bit of PR might get some of the 42 riders we had on Tuesday joining in for some casual TTT action.

Can’t make it tonight anyway – enjoy !

I love my candy 2’s, however they let me down a few weeks ago, at the start of a cx race I couldn’t clip in, the ‘spring’ in them had slipped out and I didn’t have the tools to correct that with me.

I was a bit miffed, and didn’t think they were that old. I checked my order history and I have had three sets of cleats (the current ones still going strong) since I purchased the pedals – in 2013. They have done me 7 years of cx races and a lot of gravel in between, and other than a regular clean have not had a service kit applied.

Ordered a new pair of candy3 the same day.

Never failed to clip in/out in all conditions, until they just plain wore out.

Am I too late for early excuses ? My legs still have not recovered from the damage of the ttt on thurs, despite some Zwift pootling and a park run on Saturday, with all the power of wet noodles at the moment.

I shall wave encouragingly from the rear.

Sorry to hear that paul-s – my condolences to you and your loved ones.

Thanks everyone for dragging me round, shepherding me back on and general shouting encouragement. For me it’s a fine line between being hanging on close to the limit and then suddenly it being too much.

Cramp was coming for the much of the 2nd half, and finally struck about 100m from the finish, had to pedal one legged to reach the line.

Managed a 2w ftp increase which hasn’t happened for a while, so at least I was over my limit.

    Thanks again.

The route is pretty flat – lets not kill everyone on the Aquaduct KOM to save 10 seconds.

This means if you don’t see me in front of you or right on your wheel, take a breather, I’ll be there shortly !.

Fortunately that rise is not too long, so I should be nearby if we don’t go crazy.
