I think I’ve managed to read the BB number, just, a six digit number. Can’t read the swinging arm one although I can see something that could be numbers under one the drop outs.
I’ll check with Orange on monday to see if they can tell what year it is. Thanks.

I see it, but it is so faint I can’t read it, possibly been painted over.

Think I’d better get some insurance then.
For me, my wife and son, looks like it will cost £100 to £120 for the week. Not bad considering the cover you get and the piece of mind.

We just got an email from crc saying they have had to cancel our order for the RockGardn Lady Flak Jacket body armour, will have to look elsewhere and possibly pay full price.

Forgot to update. Got the heat exchanger fitted before new year, “Engineers” go out to their vans to have a chin wag, 5 minutes later water is running down back of boiler, luckily they are still outside yapping. I had to hold my wife back, she was getting a bit angry at their crap.
They came in and announced it must be the expansion vessel. Eventually got that fixed a week later, although they said it wasn’t in stock, but then phoned them up the next day and it was all arranged for them to come and fit it, weird.

Thanks, fairly old then, whether it’s 2001 or 2003. Frames are built to last though. Cheers.

Funny, the system had been losing pressure for a while and was down to 0.5 Bar cold, thought it was nothing major and was going to put it up to 1 Bar using the filling valve, before I could do that it started dripping last Wednesday, after loads of hassle got an Ideal engineer out later that afternoon, said it was a leaking heat exchanger, but we could use it as it was only a drip, fine, then he put the pressure up to 1.5 Bar, put boiler on for a few seconds and left saying he’d order the parts that day or tomorrow.

A few minutes after he’d left the boiler was gushing water, had to switch it off.

So it is actually worse now than before the far from ideal “engineer” got his paws on it.

They’ve got you by the 6alls really.

They’re should be a legal time limit on how long they get to fix it. I think they have to have spares for upto 10 years after manufacture.

I think the kids Scott bikes have decent front forks ie soft. Also most 24″ bikes with disc brakes will take a normal grown up fork, the softer the spring the better for xc, or an air fork.

Yeah Lucien, be good to try them over a few times, no surprises 2nd time down. Think we’ll be taking it slowly, to start with anyway, boring, but my wife has a Felt Q220 hardtail and I’ve got an old Specialized enduro, and I’m pretty rubbish too, my son will possibly be bombing off in front on his Norco B-Line. Be great though.

    Thanks for the info.
Alp d’huez, is that where they do the mega avalanche race? saw some pictures in mbuk, looks awesome. Looking forward to trying all the tracks at Deux Alpes, not the blacks though, or as many as we can fit in.
    Cheers.

Got some 150mm Drop Offs on now and a 200×57 Fox Vanilla, flipped the rear linkage to lower the BB height too, need to get a slightly stiffer spring on the back, a 600lb I reckon, better still would be trying to soften the drop offs if that’s possible, there is air valves ontop of each leg, I’ll have a look on the Marzocchi site, to see what’s involved.

I bet he does have his eye on your cove hustler! Yeah, the hotrock does seem to work ok with the dj on, it does feel heavier though The original forks were very stiff, we managed to get a new set from a Scott 24″ wheeled bike through the bike shop in Aviemore that were alot softer, brilliant for XC but got me worried when he started doing drop offs because they were a bit spindly. Bet the floats will be brilliant on the B line.

Fited a 225lb fox spring from tf tuned to my 9 year old sons Norco b line, he weighs 5 st. Went through TF Tuned to get it but think they went to Fox. Works fine, got Rockshox Tora 318 forks on too, adjustable from 90mm to 130mm that match the rear travel better and are lighter than the Dirt Jumpers. He’s doing Red routes in Scotland on it so nothing really serious. Prefers his Specialized Hotrock FS hardtail though that has the dj forks and Hayes Sole brake on the front now.

Revelations and Pikes both good forks so I’ve heard, the 318 toras, they are adjustable from 90mm to 130mm, were £160 new, think they’re even cheaper now, not a bad set of budget forks to be honest. The original Manitou Black Platinums have been leaking from the rebound adjuster under the leg since I bought the bike secondhand and I should really try and get them sorted.

Wish I could afford some Talas, kind of limited to £100 to get the forks. 6″ travel linkage sounds interesting, I’ll have a search, mind you that was possibly 6 years ago.

You’re right, If it was meant to run with that suspension they would have beefed it up, or you would have bought a big hit.

    Thanks for your replies.

Yeah, definitely will check for cracks after seeing that. Mine’s even the same colour!

It is a massive difference, I’ve got an old 200mm i2i, 50mm travel, (up from 193mm i2i standard) rear shock, maybe try that first.
Reckon I should use the 215mm shock with a light spring to give it more sag to try and keep the geometry the same.
I just fancy floating over the roots and rocks without spending too much money, mind you breaking the frame…
Just need to get hold of some cheap Marzocchi Drop Offs with 150mm travel.

Dalmatians were carriage dogs, used to run at the sides of horse drawn carriages all day.
Haskies and other sled dogs certainly have the stamina and would be handy on the steep bits for pulling you up.
Hope you find the right one, more down to luck than anything really.

What if some smart person could use the dog poo to produce gas, could that be used for heating say in a localised ring? I’m sure I’ve heard of something like that.
Bit of light reading (for kids really) the Giggler Treatment books by Roddie Doyle.
Most owners do bin it, just takes one dogs poo being left and after a week of walking it every day there’s 7 stinking dumps waiting for you.

Bet he’d like a set of 2.7 High Rollers on it, they’d be huge!
The Racing Ralphs sounded fine but I couldn’t find anyone online selling them, same goes for the super tacky 2.5 High Rollers.
b r where do you get yours from? Order them locally?
In the process of puting a softer spring in the Rockshox Tora 318 fork, (could only find a yellow one, not the super soft one unfortunately) we got last year and a 225lb spring on the fox vanilla rear shock instead of a 450lb.

Yeah, even if it means cycling, walking for miles or driving with it, BIN IT.

Not encouraging it, are you daft, It bothers me as much as the next sensible person.
The poop bags are for putting the poo in and then bining it, not for chucking it. It bugs the hell out of me, better to leave it and let the slugs eat it up, if you’re not going to bin it.

You can now get compostable poop bags that degrade in a matter of 3 months and carry the EN13432 logo to prove it, just the thing if you like to bag it and leave it! (Also available are wormeries where the worms eat the bags and the poo), the resulting compost is great for the flowerbed but not to be used on your homegrown veg though. I know because my wife sells them at http://www.dogpoopbags.co.uk and a very good price they are too.
Another thing, anybody know any good 24″ tyres for a bit of junior downhilling for our son, I was trying to get the super tacky High Rollers in 2.5 width but can’t seem to find a seller.
