From Coire Lair down the singletrack towards the train station.
Described as ‘Torridon fun park’ on Strava.

Is a Tepee big to sleep in with all the seats taken out?
I am looking to replace my 2008 Seat Alhambra that is massive in the back with all the seats out. I don’t want another Alhambra/Galaxy as the newer versions have the stupid seats that aren’t fully removable……..and they seem to go for a lot of money.

The trail down to Achnashellach train station in Torridon is as near to perfect as it gets.

Sometime around 1-2am I used to click over into ‘night mode’, find your tipping point and go to bed before then otherwise it’s wide awake until 7am.

I hate this. The weekend after nightshift I will go to bed tired and, like a switch, at 1-2am I will wake up and be instantly wide awake. Just like tonight 😕

Scolty Hill in Aberdeenshire today for me. The ground is frozen solid, the River Dee has patches of ice and yet I managed to find mud and puddles 😕
I’ll probably ride the same place tomorrow and on Sunday (hangover dependant)

Rode at ‘the mast’ in Inverness for the first time on Saturday. The locals said that it was as wet and muddy as they can remember. It was actually really good fun in a, I’m on the edge of control, kind of way.
I don’t think my washing machine was impressed.

On a normal working day I will shower before work and that will be it for the day. If I had a physical job it would be twice a day…….when I was an aircraft fitter I would end up dripping with sweat just cracking off a set of nuts!
If I’m doing any form of exercise I will shower immediately afterwards…….see above.

    Distance: 2656 miles
    Rides: 196
    Time: 286hrs
    Elevation: 324,238ft

Almost identical to last year other than an extra 50,000ft of up.
I spent most of November off the bike due to illness so all numbers would have been up on last year.

Obviously can’t comment on the OP’s circumstances, but I have had my last 4 Christmaseses on me own and quite like it.

This is my first Christmas on my own, mostly by choice, and I have very much enjoyed it. Very relaxing. Long bike ride this morning, bottle of Champagne and watching Twin Peaks.

Millstone and Bennachie for me today. Really hard going in the fresh snow and very loose on the way down. The only other person I saw out was a cross country skier

Rode at a frozen solid Golfie on Friday…….it was soooooo grippy and fast.
On Saturday, with a slight hangover, I had my first trip to Thornilee. Really good trails but I was struggling a little with my judgement (beer induced). After 3 three very firm bar taps with trees at the side of the trail I decided to call it a day a little early and head back North.

Oh, and my first ride on a direct replacement frame………which I’m sure is a tiny bit shorter than the last one!

Santa Cruz. They just seem to be very poor value for your money.

    …….and this*

Troy Lee and Loose Riders apparel, its so de rigueur around here it just puts me off, its like some kind of uniform people seem to think they have to wear when they buy a bike.
*they both seem like good gear and my friends really rate them so irrational on my part.

*I like the Trail helmets though, mostly because they fit me well.

    22 pairs of gloves!
Actually I wrecked my favourite set last week so make that 21.
I already had a set of brand new replacements for the wrecked set, so I’ll be back up to 22 when I order another ‘back up’ set. 😳

I’ve come very close. It’s usually after my feet have been crossed up on a bench and the lacing is exposed.

No pictures from today’s ride, but this is an image of the 3D profile.

Strava has the furthest left of the trails at an average gradient of -52%…….I managed the first 25 metres or so and gave up.

9/11 Sat in the crew room of RAF Leuchars engine bay watching it on TV. The boss at the time, an American officer by the name of Custer (apparently related), told us that we were going to be very busy for the foreseeable future.

Did it again today while it was fresh in my memory, but still managed to make one error near the bottom. I was even more wrecked at the bottom this time…… I just want to keep peddling hard.
Certainly adds variety to the area.

I’ve been meaning to ride Heartbreak Ridge for ages, but never do as I’m usually too tired after riding the stuff closer to town. After watching your video I intentionally rode this trail first today and I’m glad I did. The weather was perfect, the trail was dry and fast and I was absolutely destroyed by the time I got to the bottom 😀
    Cheers.

Overtake move back to the left let them overtake then re overtake see how many times you can circle them before they get it.

My favourite if I’m not in a rush in these situations is to signal, move to the outer lane, overtake, signal, return to the inside lane, gently ease off, then repeat after the middle laner has overtaken me.

My record is six full circuits before they got the hint.
In future, I will be doing this 😆 😆

On Saturday it was the trails above Pitlochry which were a wee bit beyond me at points. I don’t have the skill or confidence to slide down long, steep and slidey chutes straight into a catch berm.
A quick spin on my local hill (Millstone in Aberdeenshire) today once the weather cleared.

Out of interest what’s classed as maintaining the roof and what proof did you have that you’d done that?

Receipts from a roofer who had replaced missing or loose tiles about 6 months previously.

    hairyscary

I take your point, but if a neighbour’s roof tile came off and smashed my windscreen, I would expect them to pay for it.

    This happened to me.
A slate fell off my roof in a storm (70mph winds) and made a mess of a Subaru WRX type of car that was parked next door. No way could I have paid for the damage at the time so I offered to go through my house insurance. Basically, the insurance company said, ‘no chance’. As long as I had maintained the roof, which I had, they were not liable for damage caused by such high winds and that the guy should use his own insurance.
