OP- Was it originally Euro spec and you have swapped the levers over?? Would make sense why the rear loops like that

This is how I received the bike.

I do think that that is why the hose is too short though, I think that they have done the swap and left the hose too short.

    Have you asked the iWife?

Aren’t they more interested in girth rather than length 😀

Was it a complete bike or you just bought the brake?

    Complete bike.

Hose is always routed inside. I put a bit of 3m tape to stop the rub.

There’s plenty spare on the rear hose.

I’ve already sorted that, along with several loose bolts and the low speed derailleur stop that was wound fully out 😀

I’ll have a wee gander at their site and see if it give a hose length……I don’t remember seeing anything mentioned.

    Thanks.

To be honest, I know it’s too short, I just wanted to know if other people would accept it.

I have emailed asking for a replacement hose so I can sort it…..they reckon it’s fine.

Time to be a bit more assertive I reckon.

I’ve swapped the stem spacers over to move the bars down a bit and that allows the bars to spin about 120 degrees to the right, the bars are then stopped moving by the hose hitting the top tube.

First big crash and it will rip out of the lever in my opinion.

New bike day today. Radon Swoop 170 10.

Really nice bike, but I think mine was a Friday afternoon British Leyland special. The front brake hose is way too short and the lever pulls almost to the bar, I almost put the rear derailleur into the spokes as the low speed stop was fully wound out, the grips were loose and a few screws were loose.

    edit: Scolty Hill in Aberdeenshire

    None.

My last phone call was a week last Friday.

    I like it this way.

Hairy scary- did you read the Op?

Yes I did. If you read through the discussion, several people are cleaning their other half’s cars!

Why are people cleaning their ‘other half’s’ cars?

Hers is 3 years old and is in almost showroom condition.

I’ve owned mine for nine months and it is always full of crap, filthy and is beginning to get that outdoors/slept-in smell. Whenever she gets into it I have to move all sorts of stuff from the passenger seat and footwell…..tool kit, bike lights, shoes, helmets and general biking detritus.

To be fair I have probably done more miles in nine months than she has in three years, I sleep in mine occasionally and I really couldn’t care less.

I needed a couple of issues sorted on my old Swoop and they were actually pretty good, if that helps.

    Cheers.

I had heard that they were good with warranty (one of the reasons I used them). Hopefully their attitude is a little better when/if I break the bike.

A new Radon Swoop 170 10 will be despatched from Germany today* so my maintenance will consist of putting the old bike in the shed and forgetting about it 😀

    * I hope.

Bikediscount.de have already delivered the wrong bike once and give the impression that they couldn’t give a ****

I have to reset it almost every ride, but as it takes seconds to do I’m happy with that.

Just a few scrapes and a sore front brake finger. I’ll ride it again today, particularly now I’ve seen it from a different view 😀

A very greasy Scolty Hill yesterday. Binned it quite hard at the bottom of this.

Rode at Ballo woods for the first time today in really greasy conditions……a wee bit scary after all this dry riding. The fireroad climb was absolutely teeming with baby frogs which probably contributed to my tyres lack of grip 😢😢

My weekend started on Thursday night (I get every other Friday off 😀) so this one counts.

Me giving it maximum effort on a climb that is named ‘Millstone unclimbable climb’

The trail is called Heartbreak Ridge, just outside Ballater.

2 miles of sweet, sweet singletrack.

Ballater on Thursday and Friday. Heartbreak Ridge is running so well at the moment that I knocked over a minute off my previous best effort!

Probably head out local today….Pitfichie possibly.

This is from many moons ago and I think most of these went in the bin.

I’m currently at 8 brand new, spare, 650b tyres for my only 650b bike 😳

    Four for me.

2 enduro style for mtb….. Can’t be bothered to take light off one for night rides.

Full face for the downhill bike…..stangely, if I ride the same trails on my normal bike I’ll wear a normal helmet.

An old mtb helmet with the peak removed for road.

Rode the steep stuff behind Pitlochry on Friday and at Ballater yesterday.

What a difference a few weeks makes. Two weeks ago at Ballater the snow line was half way down the hill and at the top it was probably 3ft deep in places, yesterday it was bone dry, hot and dusty.

    Behind Liatach?

    There is no best way.

Push up from the car park on the road to Kinlochewe, turn around at the top and ride back down.

With the Mallets I would describe the unclipped grip as adequate. The sole is a bit too stiff and the rubber is a lot harder than 5.10’s. I would prefer to run a set of 5.10 clipless but do not get on with how much their toebox interferes with the Crank arms when un-clipping.

I have both and run Crank Brothers Mallet E pedals.

On both pairs I could not get the cleat to engage with the pedal without a lot of force. Adding the spacer made no difference. The recess seems to be a bit too deep.

I ended up taking an angle grinder to the tread to wear it down a bit.

I run HV in the normal Terraduro and the Terraduro Mid feels as wide as a HV.

A 6mm spacer between the cable and the bit it clamps onto is how I did it a while back.

Edit: Oooops. I got a 10 speed mech to work on a 9 speed drivetrain.

Drove from Aberdeen to Torridon on Friday morning straight after nightshift. Had a wee kip in my car and then did a quick loop to get in the descent to Achnashellach……..it’s as good as ever. Today was just the classic loop with a couple of pints at The Torridon Inn.

After two days of riding, sleeping in my car and washing with wet wipes I well and truely stunk.

I tried it last summer and gave up after a couple of miles. Awful rock strewn trail that just did not work on a bike.
    Edit: I started at Redpoint.

Top tip. At 7:57 in the video, where the guy briefly looks left, you need to turn left there. If you don’t you end up in some poor old guys garden.
