Struggling up a hard climb at Pitfichie Hill. I wasn’t feeling strong yesterday and had already failed at three points……I’m yet to clean this climb.

Always wanted one of these, but my sensible head overruled my heart.

Started at Linn of Dee car park , along to Glenn Quoich and up Beinn a’Bùird. Didn’t go to the summit as the visibility went very low and there are some huge cliffs up on the plateau. Went back the way we came. 5.6km of warp speed Singletrack descent. 😀

That is a lovely looking bike………but the untrimmed zip tie on the rear brake hose just ruins it for me 😀.

    I had a similar experience with Bikediscount.de.
The only solution seemed to be to put a bad review on their site.
I will never use them again and always advise others not to.

Anyone using the ixs carve+ Evo?

Yes. I’ve got 3 pairs……I’m really sweaty so have to wash them after every ride (same with all knee pads I’ve owned).
I tried on heaps and found these to be the best compromise of protection, comfort and fit for me.

I have hit the deck many times in them and they have done their job. They are definitely not on the minimal side of things but I find them comfortable, even on all day rides.

Yes. I binned the two finger levers after only a few rides. The HC levers give a much more direct feel, similar to Shimano Saint/Zee, the two finger levers felt too flexy. They also allowed me to move the levers to a position where I could reach the shifters without the brake lever fouling my ring finger when I braked.

If you go to Drumtochty I would recommend the Strawberry Tarts at Castleton Farm shop an cafe.

If it is ruined then I would expect to pay cost price for the frame and a bit of labour for the rebuild.
If it is just the paint then I would expect to pay for the repair/touch up and maybe a small amount against the potential loss in the re-sale value.

I’ll pop one over to you if mine are the same size. It is from a set of 3 year old Terraduros.
    15mm wide and 90mm long?

Others have said they are good. Maybe I just got the same guy on both occasions who was a bit crap.

When I buy a bike I usually change a fair few bits and spend money tweaking this and that.

I’ve had a Radon Swoop170 10 in 27.5 flavour since October and the only parts I have changed are the grips, the saddle and the 2 finger Magura levers. They spec the bikes really well and are amazing value.

Their customer service is woeful in my experience. Didn’t seem interested when they sent me the wrong bike and argued the toss over a brake hose that was too short and only backed down when I left a poor review.

    I’m 5’9” and ride a medium.

Bike maintenance on Saturday in preparation for Bike Park Wales, BMCC and Revolution Bike Park next weekend.
Today was chasing a really quick lad up and down at Drumtochty Forest. On the final descent, and very fatigued, I hit a tree stump and ended up head butting the floor. I smashed the peak on my helmet and also appear to have ridden over myself 😀

Dakine Concept. You can actually see through them 😀

Dakine Insight are very thin. The palm is a silicone mesh that grips well and dries really fast if you a sweaty freak like me.

If you can still get then Dakine Concept are about as thin as you will get.

Not the same, but I have trapped my foot between the ground and the chainring (outer without the chain) when I messed up a jump. The chainring cut through two layers of leather and then into my foot leaving me with 3 ‘v’ shaped scars. I think the fact I was wearing disco slippers, that had a very stiff sole, stopped the chainring cutting a lot deeper.

A quick spin at Hill of Fare last night in lovely conditions.

Today was A trip to Dunkeld…….it was scorchio……..I even squeezed in a cider half way round.

The set of MT5’s that came on my Radon Swoop were terrible until I bled them and replaced the awful ‘2 finger’ levers (too long and too flexy). Since then they have been the most reliable brakes I’ve owned, the bite point is consistent, they haven’t faded so far and the pads are lasting well.

A friend had trouble with a set of MT5’s that needed regular bleeding from new. Eventually he figured out that there was a small leak from the master cylinder piston and got it sorted under warranty.

First time at Aboyne, riding the trail that I separated my shoulder on three months ago. I was not much off a PB in really slippy conditions, so it would appear that I’m back up to speed 😀

……and a wee video of my mate following me down a trail from Fridays ride.

3 hours, this afternoon, as I’m injured at the moment. It was doing blocks.
I’m not really sure how I managed it and I’m not sure I could do it again.

I purchased a TACX2240 today so may even do some Zwift stuff.

A visit to the Physio confirmed a ‘bad’ Grade II AC separation from a crash on Saturday, so my first purchase of the year will be a turbo trainer 🙁

    2130 miles
    272 hours
    330,000 feet of up
    171 rides

Lower than the last few years as I did almost no road miles this year. There was no way I was going to ride the road when the trails were soooooo good this summer.

I managed to break myself on an almost flat piece of trail on Saturday. My pedal struck a rock and sent me through the bike, winding me as I went. I’m now sat at home, in a sling, nursing a tender shoulder.

A cold start to the year and a broken car meant commuting in this.

Sat at the top of my current favourite trail….Heartbreak ridge near Ballater.

Frustration that much of the summer was wasted due to this.

Going for a bike ride with my brother for the first time in about 20 years. He thoroughly enjoyed Glenlivet and Aberdeenshire.

Biggest trip was a solo one to Pila and La Thuille.

    Marin/Whyte:
Replaced several broken frames, including crashed ones, without issue. They even gave me the bits that were different standards when the model of frame changed.
    Chain Reaction Cycles:
Replaced several broken frames without issue.
    TFTuned:
Without a doubt the best service of any company I’ve ever dealt with.

    Bad.
    Bike-discount.de:
See my recent thread about a short hose.

    I asked for a steel axle when I snapped my my 2nd or 3rd pro2 axle….nope.

I ended up buying the hose myself over the weekend and left a poor review on Bikediscount.de’s website Monday morning.

The poor review didn’t even appear on their site and within 20 minutes I had received an email from them asking if I would take the bike to a local bike shop to get the hose sorted and they would give me €30 as a goodwill gesture. I think any goodwill went when they tried to wheedle out of sending me a hose.

I told them I would not be cancelling the order for the parts that I had ordered elsewhere and that I would not be using them again.

They then asked for a copy of the invoice and they would provide me with a voucher.

I told them to sod off as this was all too little too late.

They have now sent me a voucher code for €30

I have told them to cancel it.

Why does it take a bad review to get an issue resolved? If they had sorted the issue straight away I would be recommending them, as it is I will never use them again and will recommend that others don’t.

Well, the German bike shop still believe there isn’t a problem as it is still possible to steer the bike 😲

The bike is a Radon Swoop bought from Bike-discount.de

Looks like I won’t be using them again and will be slagging off their customer service at every opportunity*

*the delivery process was also a bit of a nightmare, not helped by the customer service’s apparent lack of interest.

Ah, maybe they did the swapping.

On the advertised picture, is the front brake on the left or right side of the bars.

Its a side view, but it looks like it’s ‘front brake is left hand’

They should still e leaving me enough hose if they do a swap…….surely they must have to do this often. I would imagine they leave the hoses long until they know the bikes destination.

I really think mine has been a bit of a ‘Friday afternoon British Leyland’ build.

    Cheers all.

I’ve emailed them again insisting on a replacement hose and pointing them towards their advertised picture of the bike that shows the bike with a much longer front hose.

    Matt
