Rode from home, up over Bennachie and back (3 hours). Still trying to convince myself that you can roll everything from Oxen Craig to Back ‘o Bennachie. I’m 90% sure it all goes. Actually I’m 100% sure it goes if you hit the right line, but only 90% sure that I wont go off line, drop the wheel into a hole and throw myself into the rocks. So I’m still wimping out of some bits, which is frustrating. Still, it will come one day.

To the treelike is definitely rollable, even on my 26’er 🙂 . After the treeline it gets a bit fast for rolling off stuff.

I rode the Hill of Fare on Saturday and managed to punch a rock with my pinkie 😳

I’ve used Shimano, Crank Brothers Mallets and Time x-rocs.

    Time are the best.

On a night out a friend decided he was going to try and ‘pull’ a rather attractive lady, unfortunately for me her friend was rather on the large side. My actions that night can only be described as ‘heroic’.
    You ‘entertained’ the friend, yes..?

    😳
…….and my mate didn’t. He still owes me 😀

This is 31.5lbs (calibrated scales) with pedals and a 2.5 exo minion on the back, not the Specialized Butcher as pictured.

Nope. My whole body is aching after a pretty big crash on Sunday (I had to order a new crash helmet).

I inspect the bits that make up a gas turbine and make sure that when they are put back together they actually make a gas turbine.

The inspection part is very dull, the making sure it goes back together is less dull. Does the fact that I’m good at it make me dull 🙁

Money. I work in Aberdeen so get paid more than I should and could probably chase more if I really wanted to.

    Torridon.

Amazing as ever and enhanced by the Torridon Inn having a beer festival. 🙂

No. I’ve tried various pairs but sweat running down the inside of the lens obscures my vision.

Fast rolling, grippier than they look and the EXO protection is a good halfway house between single and two ply.

On the downside the edge on the outer blocks wears pretty quickly.

I have also cut clean through a sidewall first ride (300 yards) while bimbleing along. A bit unlucky really.

I think you would be looking at more natural stuff if you want techie and long. Any of the routes around Torridon have that rocky feel to them.

Flashback been there and done it, made it across tbh I always say after I wish I had done the out and back, so I wouldn’t be despondent about that, was really difficult with the amount of rain I had a few years ago. Head down and do the loch damph loop that’s a good yin.

    I concur.

Post ride service involves leaving it in the boot of my car.

Clean it about once a month and give a full service about twice a year.

Just ridden/pushed/carried/swore my way from Loch Muick to the top of Lochnagar via Broad Cairn. Rode back down to Loch Muick via Glas-allt-Shiel……which was rather difficult.

4.5 hour commute! That would be a very easy choice for me.
I used to commute 3 hours and was a miserable git. I now do 40 minutes and am less of a miserable git 🙂

    Chumba XCL.

Really stiff, really well finished and bulletproof, but I felt like I was perched on a ladder when riding it!

I think it was a wee bit too big for me, but I really could not get it to work.

Started with an emmelle type of thing, then
    Saracen Tufftrax
    Sunn 5000 (cracked)
Sunn f/s (suspension ovalised in months)
    Sunn revolt (mate still rides)
Raleigh TI special racing products. (TJ has it now)
    Tomac Revolver
    Commencal supreme (cracked)
    Commencal supreme (cracked)
    Commencal meta 5 (cracked)
    Morewood Shova LT
Marin Wolfridge (still got the frame)
    Marin Attack Trail.

Loved all of them, but the Marin Wolfridge has been the best by a country mile.
