Blackwater Lodge (deserted) in the Glenfiddich area. It’s out in the middle of nowhere and feels really isolated (think….3 hour loop, ridden maybe 12 times I only ever saw one other person, once).
Every time I approached it I started to get very apprehensive (a large collection of crows didn’t help) and would absolutely leather it past.

It would be a full sus mtb for me. As your in the Aberdeen area you could ride local stuff like Bennachie, Millstone Hill and Scolty Hill. You could also head further a field to somewhere like Ballater and do the classic Loch Muick and Glen Clova ride (snow levels allowing).
Maybe combine this with a couple of days somewhere on the way up here.

I told him that a filter that should be used only once for a product to maintain its chemical integrity should only be used once. This is a fact backed up from the supplier.
    The filter is £550.

He said, we’re not doing that , use it repeatedly.

I told him that we shouldn’t be doing this, he told me to just do it. The product is used for healthcare disinfection purposes, reasonably critical application.

Let the QC manager know about this and tell your boss that is what you will be doing.

Started riding just as the sun came up with the temp at about -2*.
Clear skies, very hard frost for about four days now, boilerplate ice and snow snow on the ground…….ace 🙂

This is near the top of Bennachie.

On a day off riding in Alpe d’huez I decdided it would be fun to have a go on the CONCRETE luge and it would be more fun if I tried to get to the bottom without using the brake. On the exit of the very last corner and with the whole queue looking on I slammed on the brake, flipped upside down and slid to a halt with the luge on top of me. As casually as I could and without looking anyone in the eye I untangled myself, handed over my luge and walked away pretending I hadn’t just melted my shirt and given myself huge friction burns.

Went cycle touring for the first time. I’ll be doing it more often.
Ridden the most in a year than I’ve ever done.
Become technically more proficient on my bike.
Done the biggest drop I’ve ever done on a bike, 8 feet to flat on a 130mm trail bike.
    Broken a few frames.

I think the single life suits me.

    1,912 miles, mostly mtb.
    210 hours.
    219,000 feet of up.
    146 rides.

So, on average I do 1000 feet of climbing every hour that I ride!

A Whyte 146 carbon frame fitted with an Avalanche tuned shock as a spare in case I break my current frame. I should sell it as I doubt I’m going to break a Nukeproof Mega.

I don’t think I’ve ever thrown a punch at anyone other than when we were both wearing boxing gloves.

Having witnessed a young lad die from a single punch I don’t think I would resort to any form of violence unless my or someone’s life was in danger.

I should have gone through insurance which she didnt want to do !
    Do that then.

Or just tell her that the damage has reduced your cars value by £150 but you have no intention of getting it repaired.

5’9″ with a 30″ inside leg. I rode a medium and found it a little bit short. My large Nukeproof mega TR with a 610 eTT is a much better fit.

hairyscary – Really, 34 front 11 rear will spin out at 17mph?
Bollocks! I spin out at that 32-20 singlespeed (29er)

Edit: beaten to it, left the half filled out window a while

Have a look at the end of my sentence where you will find a question mark. I was questioning the post above mine.

Halfords will get Lake shoes in to your local branch if they don’t have them in stock. I used this service about 6 months ago to get two pairs of MX145’s in a wide fit to try on.

Yep, about a week of general ‘meh’ but nothing too badI keep on trying to go out on my bike, but give up after the first climb. My rides this week have been 2.5 miles, 2.5 miles and 5 miles. I think I may need a week off the bike 😥

Ford Sierra Sapphire at 18 years old (I was middle aged when I was born according to an Ex)
Reanault 11 turbo that I swapped for the Sapphire.

No car for about the next four years.
I did own a Mini 1275 in this period, but only drove it a few times, in the end a man going past the house on his horse stopped and asked to buy it.

Company cars for the next lot.

BMW 318 touring (middle aged in my mid twenties).
    BMW 740.
    Porsche 911 Carrera 2 (993).
How I kept my licence in this period I will never know.

No car for the next couple of years, and now we get into the heaps of crap that I drove until they became scrap

Bedford Astra estate (abandoned at RAF Cosford)
Ford Fiesta (abandoned at RAF Lossiemouth…I think)
    Vauxhall Vectra (scrapped)
VW Passat estate, the slowest car I have ever driven. (Scrapped)
Ford Mondeo that drank fuel on my 120 mile commute (I actually managed to sell this one!!)
Renault Kangoo 1.2 petrol that was still going at 200,000 miles when I traded it in. In the summer of 2012 I was doing 3500 miles a month in it!

I’m now in a Seat Alhambra and I’m also middle aged.

When I was young and naive I took on my managers job, whilst doing my own, when she went on maternity leave for what my boss said would be 6 months. 6 months became a year. After a year she returned to do a couple of days a week in sales. When she came back full time it was to ‘help me out’ and continue with the sales work. I promptly resigned and gave them sod all notice.
I was rewarded very well during the 18 months, but it was awful, I was working my socks off and making myself Ill whilst constantly being promised that I would rerun to my old role when my manager came back full time.
Whatever choice you make, make sure that you have an agreed timeline that is adhered to.

At the weekend I usually drive the 20 minutes it takes to get to the local hill, a couple of hours for a day ride and any longer I’ll make a weekend of it. I don’t ride from my door as the closest trails are 4 and 10 miles away, 4 miles is ok but I’d get very bored of the same trail and 10 miles….sod that.
I don’t find driving to ride a hassle at all, but my bike does live in my car and I don’t care about getting it dirty inside.
