A bike ramp, a nicely finished bike ramp.

Single man living accommodation in the Air Force came with a urinal that doubled up as a sink…….or was it the other way round.

I can’t answer your questions, but if your a after a size large I’ve got an unused pair for sale in the classifieds.

This is the fixed version……it was a warranty replacement for another ‘fixed’ one 🙂

    Whyte 146.
I have crashed harder on other bikes in a similar fashion and not managed this. Maybe it was just the ‘perfect’ crash 😀

Front wheel dropped into a hole going down a 15%’ish gradient at about 10mph. I knew the crash was coming so was already preparing to go over the bars. About half way through the crash I heard a strange tearing noise which turned out to be the frame falling apart.
To be fair I’ve also cracked a lot of aluminium frames, but never ‘catastrophically’

This was a little concerning for a slow speed crash.

It was replaced under warranty even though I crashed and admitted I’d crashed.

Did Aberdeen to Morzine in 26 hours last year with two driving. It was hard work getting to Dover though.

Fast rolling, slidey in the corners, slippy on the rocks.

A mate has done it. Xl frame, 170mm lyric, angleset and offset bushings. Very long and low. A trail bike with the same feel as a DH bike he reckons.

Practicing right handers…….they don’t feel natural to me.
Riding my first DH bike at the age of 44…… Why did I not buy one sooner.

I’ll probably pop up with my mattock tomorrow.
The right hand side of that photo used to be a mass of gorse bushes that were closing up the trail. As I was clearing them all the passing walkers were commenting that they would at least be able to see ‘those’ mountain bikers coming now. 🙂

When I stay at my dads house, ‘down south’, I live off pudding, chips, peas and gravy and Eccles cakes, I’m salivating thinking about them, but by god do they pile on the pounds.

No mud, but the heavy rain here in Aberdeenshire has trashed some of the trails.

I do enjoy the freedom of riding solo but find that if I ride on my own too much I start to lose my skills/bottle. It starts with me avoiding riding anything really techy (the voices in my head telling me ‘what if’) and ends with me being a bit of a pussy. I really enjoy riding with someone who will push me to ride harder and stop me overthinking everything.

This thing used to stay in a glass tank in my old Squadron’s briefing room. It was impressive but I was always glad to be out of the room.

The mention of French films reminded me of

Jean De Florette starring Gerald Depardieu
And the the follow up Manon Des Sources starring the beautiful Emualle Beart

Both lovely films that no one I know, apart from Mrs tenfoot, has heard of.

I owned these, although long lost, and have read the book.

I too do the trichotillomania thing with my nasal and beard hair. I do it less often now after I ended up with a small bald patch on my top lip!

Scott Minus gloves worked well for me on today’s ride. I was out for a couple of hours with temperatures down to -2*C.
I’ve used them when it was a little warmer and found that they just got wet with sweat.

Hand it into the police then forget about it.

This is what I did when I found one. Trying to find an open Police station was hard work. When I eventually found one that was open they said they would try to reunite it with its owner, so maybe better than leaving it in the woods.

Well best of luck to you if/when such attacks happen again and you have nothing to hand to defend yourselves with.
Even those that are specifically armed and charged with shooting terrorists undergo extensive training and conduct rigorous planning before acting. Joe Public would end up either shooting themselves, the wrong person or getting killed and gifting the terrorist another weapon. I don’t believe a single mass shooting in the US has been stopped by any armed member of the public.
Best defence – hide or run like f##k.

    This

When I was in the Air Force I had a go in a simulator room that mimiced terrorist tactics, I clearly new something was going to happen and yet I only managed to get one round off and missed the terrorist by a good margin (the birds in the trees were in more danger). Out of the whole group in the lesson only two of us actually fired our weapons and everyone of us would have been shot by the terrorists.
Against highly motivated and trained people you would not stand a chance.

Technique by New Order a few weeks ago in the car. I don’t have an IPod, MP3 etc, so if I listen to music it will be a CD in the car on a long journey. I tried listening to a Spiritualized album whilst driving from Aberdeen to Manchester after a night shift……lasted about 5 minutes before I realised it was not a good idea.
Can’t help you with the new stuff though, I stopped listening to new bands in about 1996.

I ran over a young girl who just ran out between parked cars. I ended up on the other side of the road wedged under a parked car and saw her bolt off down a cul-de-sac. When I eventually freed myself I knocked on each door in turn until I found out where she lived to make sure she was ok, turns out I came off the worse.

I feel the same as Bustaspoke.
I had the opportunity to watch Ride play Glasgow earlier this year but turned it down as I didn’t want to spoil the memory of one of the best gigs I’d ever been to, some twenty odd years previously.

Have you tried the super gravity and similar casings hairyscary?

    Perfect for fast rocky stuff.

I’ve tried other brands in the past but always come back to Maxxis in the end so I don’t bother looking elsewhere now.

Oh, and I managed to flat on the rear today……..the puncture gods are cruel.

The heaviest tyres I have ever ridden were Intense intruders (4 ply) coming in at 1600g. I remember pinging the rims a fair bit after a while so decided to put a bit of air in……the track pump gauge registered zero pressure and the tube wasn’t punctured.

If it’s going to be fast and rocky on the way down then it’s Dual ply tyres front and rear, so about 1250g.
For everything else Exo protection, so about 800g.

Dual ply tyres are chuffin hard work on the climbs but are worth the extra effort on the descents.

One of these, even though I can’t really afford to ride DH, it has a proprietary shock and chain device, I don’t think there is a UK importer, I don’t know if they still make them, I don’t have the space……….but look at it.

I think the mother is really annoyed at that fact that she’s obviously past her best.
