Just got back from work – had to ride bikes with a couple of really nice client for 4 hrs and got paid for that. Life is hard, you know ;-)

My wife and my daughter went down struck with a food poisoning so no riding tomorrow. Bummer! Have fun and let’s organise another one sharp-ish.

Looking for people interested in becoming cycle trainers (eventually) by helping out this Summer term. Had several responses, all hugely appreciated, but maybe someone missed out? Work based in West London and Middlesex right now. £10 per hour.
BTW You must be able to ride a bike, being good at forum-shatting won’t suffice ;-)

Which is precisely why I provisionally have chosen the Verdsteins. Very good reviews, ok price and I know their road bike tyres. Thanks, guys. Marge – where else would a greeney like myself have found you and your expertise if not here? ;-) CHeers, much obliged.

Have a chat at your local car repair shop, a typical colour might be cheap (last Spring I paid £10 all incl. for a frame respray – gloss black).

I have some spares from a Kona, you could even fit discs. Let me know if you want pics (via email preferably).

    The Vredsteins look symmetrical though.
Cheap and apparently really good if a bit noisy, so it’ll probably be them (Bridgestones aren’t available locally and I like to support the local guy if I can).

Vredestein Sportrac 3 – good price too. Have you used them yourself? How long for?

How about Avons? They’re £50 each fitted etc locally.

I got a Hamax. Good, comfy and when I needed a different mounting bar (as the new frame was small) it was only a tenner from a LBS.

Well, I’ll stick with Hope QR for now then. I did, at the end of the day, ride my FS for hundreds of miles in real mountains with discs fitted and never thought about it twice. Cheers, everyone!

    Marge, you mean those:

    Aren’t asymmetrical threads better?

BTW I got quoted £75 per wheel all inclusive for Falkens. Good? Bad?

£90 a pop? It’s almost 50% of my car value, hecking fell!

As it’s a diesel, a 1.9 td with only 90 horses under the bonnet, 150+mph isn’t an option. There seems to be a local Falkens dealer so I’ll pay a visit.

Without wanting to sound rude, it’s a <£1K 406 estate, so I’m guessing it’s more “slow lap of the one way system” than “sub 9 minute lap of the Nurburgring”

lol! How true! The “car” floats along the road rather than drives, the steering wheel seems attached to the wheels with some chewy instead of metal, it’s more of a boat than a car handling-wise. Nurburgring? More like IKEA-ring :-)

Thanks bruneep, but they don’t seem to have what I need (or a pint of G&T works).

I’ll do my dandiest to turn up. 10 am Sunday? Can we confirm the location, please?

Well, yes. The car was bought for under a grand so it’s hard to justify spending £90 per tyre IMO.

    Not to worry.
    It’s been a pleasure.

I got a cheap Prophet some 2 years ago. The original bits are the mechs, shifters and frame. Would’ve been cheaper to go for the TOTR model, but less fun. The bike is great, better than me.

If he’s giving you a Nigerian cheque and asks to send the overpayment in cash to a friend, beware!

A bottle of port never lasts more than 2 days in my household. £50 for a bottle, dream come true :-)

Several frames – MTB, road, cruiser, BMX.
A wallet with loads of cash, cards etc. – returned to owner.
No porn – local kids know its value ;-)

qwerty, what time? Needs to be late enough for my wife to get back from work and me to ride from Hampton.
Wouldn’t a Saturday morning be better?

Any Shimano SPD pedals work great, I particularly like my XTR as I bought them really cheaply (£35 brand new) and DX with long pins as the berings are so smooth despite lack of care ever.

I probably could, but would prefer something a bit later, it might get warmer.

Would you say the DT jobbie is then more secure than a Shimano QR?

Doesn’t it depend on the area? As an example only, in Feltham there are two public secondary schools, both of which are really awful. Given you can apply for a bursary I’d send my kid to a private one rather than there as, judging by the number of local single mums who aren’t even 16, the only life skill learnt at the school is giving head.
