Yes, whilst I find them fantastic running shoes for gradual undulating stuff, they almost destroyed my feet when I ran the Gr20 across Corsica a couple of years ago. Found the exact same thing on the steep terrain, slight movement forward and back. No other solution but gluing them down.

I was told that the travel adaptors won’t work due to the power draw of the electronics.

Back in the early 2000’s I used to do this almost once a month, but out on friday night and back on a sunday night. used to be able to get two full days mountain biking in for less than £200 for the weekend.

Chocolate Lab owner here. Most of the advice on here is pretty good. From a biking point of view ours is great, really aware of bikes keeps out of the way etc but we can’t take him anywhere near livestock cause he likes to chase which limits things somewhat. Running wise ours just keeps on going. He trained with me for a marathon and was running 20 miles no problems – just ensuring he had plenty of water and a snack for half way.

The origins of this scare story go back to a chain letter from the 90s, and it’s still doing the rounds (google “Nancy Markle”). We can file it next to the Good News virus, the dying little boy wanting his emails to go around the world, and Bill Gates sending you to Disneyland.

And smoking being bad for you.

The most noticeable issues currently is the link between it and Serontonin levels, leading to depression and other neural issues (building on Sharma’s initial work and later taken up by The Department of Psychiatry at Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine).

Aspartame is linked to a lot of physical and mental health issues by idiots on the Internet. It’s one of the most rigorously tested food substances on the planet. If it ever gets linked to actual issues by actual evidence I’ll eat my own shoes.

    Idiots eat their own shoes.
Idiots also choose to ignore warnings.

    Just sayin

Based on research and science. Aspartame is linked to a lot of physical and mental health issues for which there are many scientific studies being conducted. Ignore at your peril.

2 guys at the junction of Lower Richmond Road and the road up to Kew. Was quite surprised to see them there to be honest.

Agreed on the diet drinks stuff, much better to drink the full fat sugary goodness than the chemical laced diet stuff.

It should be noted there was just 3 of us, many more people and the organisation would have been a lot harder.

Corsica is an amazing island and you should definitly explore some of the inner mountain areas rather than just sticking to the coast.

To be honest it wasn’t too difficult to organise. We used the GR20 guidebook for most of the planning, knowing that we wanted to run it in 6 days, it was a matter of taking the 15 stages and fitting them into 6 days, trying to level the distance whilst taking into account the terrain challenges. Then just booking the huts along the way. We travelled light (5kg packs + water).

Logistics wise we drove down, took the ferry and left the car at the start. Then hired a car to collect the car afterwards. Was a little bit of a pain to organise that bit but worked out ok.

We were there in June and watched the first stage of the tour.

Spent 6 days running the GR20 before a few days in Bastia letting the feet recover and watch the tour.

Stunning Island, one of the most beautiful places. Slightly pricey but not really any different from the South of France. We did the ferry Nica to Calvi.

Both look good, the hutrunhut looks great but limited to 12 places?! Bet that is something you could figure out on your own rather than going on an organised thing. Southern upland way looks doable in a week, depending on how stages and accommodation work out.

Buzzard attacks happened a lot in a small village where i used to live in Staffordshire, bikes and runners. Took a chunk out of my dads head once.

Did you think you were a 6 but they classified you as a 3 after day one? 😆

Can’t please everyone. The fact that they have so many different groups, guides etc and go to so much trouble to ensure everyone is with equal ability riders and that they don’t get taken down something on the first day which is likely to cause injury is much better than a lot of companies out there. I would take that as a big positive.

I don’t see what is wrong with it. It gives a good initial assessment for them prior to the groups arrival and then allows less time wasting on the first day as you have already filtered people into similar ability groups.

I would highly recommend getting a guide, the best being from TrailAddiction. Apart from Bike Village, they were the first company to be based out there and pain stakingly mapped out and named all the trails you are quoting. In fact I would highly recommend a whole holiday with them as the chalets, food and assistance they give is first class.

Done it 3 times and have had dual ply minions with Maxxis DH tubes running normal pressures and not punctured once.

The course is not actually that hard on tyres, but it would be a bitch if you got a flat!

If housing is in such short supply why is something like 5% of the housing stock in this country sitting empty?

    Cause it’s sh*t?

you’ll all be interested to hear that 2010 is shaping up to be the warmest year ever*.

Yup, its reaching a peak at the moment and the rate has been slowing over the last decade. Still doesn’t mean we should rape the planet like we are. 🙁

I just love the way a post about loving the sight of a Spitfire descends into pictures of people dying due to nuclear attacks.

Admirable a speed awareness course does not affect your insurance.

They even tell you that at the speed awareness course.

It is NOT classified as a conviction.

    Speed Awareness Course

Remember, if you are eligible and elect to take the Speed Awareness Course, you do not have to pay the fine, you won’t get the penalty points and above all, you don’t have to tell your insurance company because the speeding offence is cancelled.

Try and get a speed awareness course instead?

I got caught doing 78 in a 70 and sent them a letter back with my form stating how sorry i was etc etc etc got a speed awareness course instead. Still costs you £60 but no points.

    Passat all the way.

Bought my 51 plate TDi 130 for £3000 with 110k on the clock. Now done 190k and spent less than £500 on it including cambelt change.

    Great cheap motoring.

I would definitely go to Les Arcs with TrailAddiction. Can't recommend them more highly like everyone else on here. If you are thinking of doing a couple of weeks I would do TrailAddiction for a week then drop over into Italy and ride Pila and La Thuile.

Bike Village have a great reputation but they do a lot of pedalling up so probably not what you are looking for. Bike Verbier are great too.

Looks good, been a couple of times but not for a few years and it does look like its getting cut up compared to a few years back. Shame as its a little gem of a mountainside.

I take my dog to trail centres and don't see a problem with it. But then i know he comes on command and isn't a threat. If i was unsure of my dogs behaviour then I wouldn't take it.

I avoid busy times though, makes sense really, the amount of out of control weekend warriors on 29ers and Singlespeeds is a threat to mine and my dogs health. Plus my dog says they smell of vaseline.

But agreed, agriculture is one of the major ones, if not the major one.

    Agreed.
