The Pro Comps are lighter if that’s your bag, in fact a lot lighter to be honest. I think the new pick-up system (as in same number as CK hubs) is available too and that makes the rear very good, as in instant pick up when putting the power down.

Daffy, we make them. I think Evolution asked because CK hadn’t planned to make any and so we got in there first. We designed them so there weren’t any issues with people using the floating rotors as well as there have been a number of CK hub users who have suffered problems concerning this. I can assure you they are very well made to tight tolerances and so work perfectly :-)

They are Enduro bearings that are used. They come with a protective cover that you can either use or leave off. I personally don’t like them. I don’t think they last that long but they are quite friction free – more so than any others. The trade off being they spin your cranks well at the cost of longevity. I was told that because they are cheap, it’s a just a running cost and just replace them when they fail. I don’t like that approach, I want to fit and forget. I haven’t tried any of the Hopes or CK ones so can’t comment on them but as my last bikes used standard XTR BB’s I was impressed with those as they lasted quite well

I said silly wheels – I was just jesting. I think Sideways have a DW Turner as a demo bike so I might give it a try and compare it to my old 5 Spot.

So I was right – it’s 5 Spot with silly wheels! Except it’s not a proper Turner. Or am I talking b******ks? Sorry, like the old Turners and I know that’s biased as I’ve never ridden one of the new ones. But I wouldn’t buy a car if it didn’t at least look right. Whatever floats your boat I guess.

I aren’t in denial lol. I found the info for prices – £3175 for the lot. Brand new frame too – the clue was in where I work . The seatpost was second-hand all the rest was new. I do buy where’s cheapest too – CK headset was £65 from US, and I got the XTR chainset when Wiggle were doing them for below £170!

It was pretty special – it flew up hills and was very quick coming down them – apart from me that is lol. I did work out what it cost and it’s not near that, closer to £3k. Pre price increase on Shimano I guess and I do work at BETD lol.

The Ti/MG’s were the worst! They had a stupid little spring clip that broke at the slightest knock. The Ti/Ti’s used a totally different design, as do the newer cheaper ones so things should be better now -apart from the play developing later lol

I must have been really lucky with my pedals njee. One set did fall apart but after they were repaired they were fine. The bearings wear yes but they spun perfectly. With the kit on above I got the Intense 5.5 down to 25.5lb – like I said it’s the wheels and little bits that add up.

    Yeti 575 medium frame
    Chris King Rasta headset
Easton EC90 SL Low Riser bars
    Ritchey WCS grips
    Ritchey WCS stem
    Thomson Masterpiece seatpost
    SDG Ti Yeti saddle
    Tune seatclamp
    Fox Talas RLC 08 forks
Avid Ultimate brakes with Hope floating rotors & Matchmaker clamps
    SRAM X.0 shifters
    SRAM X.0 rear mech
    XTR M970 chainset
    XTR M970 front mech
    XTR M970 cassette
    Control Tech Ti skewers
Goldtec Pro Comp front hub on ZTR Olympic rims running Stans NoTubes
Goldtec Pro Comp rear – as above
    Schwalbe RR/NN tyres 2.25
    Xpedo Ti/Ti pedals
    cant remember the chain lol.

I changed to the Fox Float RLC’s with 15mm axle and with new wheel it went just over 25lb. Our wheels are very light – especially running the NoTubes system. My mates got a 575, same year same size and his was heavier even thought he had all XTR gear and Hope wheels. The saving was in the wheels basically, which is why I recommended the heavier stronger Stans rims. Sorted :D

CaptainMainwaring – ask Stu the Yeti rep or anyone who works at BETD, the Yeti on Ultimate Digital scales weighed in under 25lb – no bullshit! Oh you want the proof, here goes then. If you want the spec let me know

Here’s my old 575 Yeti, just a gnats under 25lb.

I would use the Stans 355 rims or even the Flow if your a hard rider considering your weight – no offence as I wouldn’t want you pringle the wheels. Built with stuff that doesn’t break either. But if I had to choose a bike on ride alone, comfort and knowing it would take the rough stuff better I’d pick my old Turner 5 Spot anyday. The Yeti got affected by cross-winds too bad and just wasn’t as plush as the 5 Spot. But the 5 Spot was over 30lbs because of the coil forks and shock but I’d still have this one any day

No it isn’t. Goldtec make 15mm hubs that accept a normal QR adaptor. We also make adaptors for CK 20mm hubs so they accept 15mm axles.

Fairford is the best – especially if you like Military stuff. They always have a theme and the static display is huge so be prepared for a long long walk.

The HT is amazingly short at 90mm!

The forks are 140mm Floats. I will find out how bad/good it is climbing when I ride it but I will put up with any woandering if it helps on the downy bits :-)

That’s the reason why I bought it – the very slack head angle. I’ve always felt more confident with a slacker head angle, the forks just seem to point in the right direction so to speak and it’s far easier to control IMO. I will try and measure it and I will weigh it too, although I aren’t bothered about that but I reckon it’s about 27lb all up. Really can’t wait ride it either – bloody bad neck grrr

Nobody wanted buy the forks when I split the Yeti so I’ve had to put them on it! I wasn’t going to give them away and it’s pointless leaving then not being used

Cheers for comments. It’s a 16″ frame and the saddle height isn’t set, I just put it there for the moment. I’m 5ft 9″ at a stretch lol

I absolutely love my Float RLC’s. They are the 15mm QR type but internals are exactly the same as the normal QR types. They are super smooth and really really plush, far far better than my 08 Talas RLC’s I ran. Best FOX fork I’ve ever had and I’ve ran a few over the years. Quite light too so should help keep that weight down. I don’t think you’d notice the difference in travel either. Go for em :D

There doesn’t appear any probs regarding exchanges or on deliveries – it’s when there’s something wrong that there does. I’m sure it’ll all come out in the wash as they say.

I’ve just had a front wheel built by them. It’s not running true at all and came without rim tape. I emailed them, got a very quick reply asking for details. I’ve given them the info then I’ve heard nothing from them since. Usually give very very good serivce so most unusal.

That’s a difficult one paulosoxo as I guess like most members, we only know some people as someone on the end of a pc. I have a 100% feedback as a seller and buyer on eBay so I “assume” that members will be ok dealing with me because I know my eBay rating and trust to that, even though you lot don’t know that info. Maybe we could add that info when selling or buying but I guess not everyone has an eBay account either!
We “all” buy and sell on trust here, it’s just a great shame there’s a very very very small minority who have abused it. And I hasten to add, it isn’t just sellers who have abused this. Some so called “buyers” mess sellers around which is very very infuriating as it wastes everyones time and effort. I will contine to buy and try to sell but I fear most my items I have to sell in future may end up being eBayed.

I’m keeping my fingers crossed it never happens here. I know it sounds stupid but I said I’d give up any amount of money to know my kids never have to be in hospital, espcially when they’re young. Still got them crossed too.

Hope she gets better matey and best wishes. You can’t wrap em up in cotton wool, kids will be kids as we’ve all been there.

This current problem isn’t just down to sellers giving anyone grief. Even as a seller waiting for payments has it pitfalls. I’ve advertised stuff on here and been contacted, buyer says I’ll have them, cheque in post blah blah. Now I’ve been told sell them someone else and I will cancel the cheque. This happened twice regarding payment. He’s even blamed his local post office as it’s in a small village so he doesn’t know where the things go! I reckon he never sent any off at all and just messed me about so I’ll be watching out for him in future regarding any selling or buying. One lucky point is I guess is I’ve lost no money – it’s just my time and other peoples who asked for the items too. Beware boys :?
