I’m running 1×10 which is 34t with 11-36 and I like it. When I’m on the road I’d like another gear at times but the off-road stuff is more than covered ok

Lots of Spaniel owners on here – I’m thinking of getting one myself but might try a resuce centre first and see what they have before I go down the puppy route. A friend has one and it’s so cute and my daughters blagging my head all the time plus it’ll make a change from spiders and snakes lol.

Yip Sangria and thanks for the compliment. The mediums do look small and everyones commented on that. I think it’s because all the tubes seem to be in one area – the link and the raised stays keep everything “in”
I’m not sure of the total cost but I’ve pulled a few favours in on it and done some begging too so it’s not that bad. I’m glad I haven’t had to pay full whack for it.

Well it’s all finished apart from the new XTR pedals but we’ve just weighed it in and its 25.9lb including pedals!!!!!!!! How good is that! I lobbed nearly a pound and a half off with the new Chris King wheels alone. I’m really really pleased with it and it’s a fantastic bike to ride. This and my Merlin Oreas are the best builds I’ve ever done and I’m over the moon with it 😀

Lol I thought it was just me! I had the small end cap for the XTR M970 chainset today and that came in a bloody big box too – maybe it’s old stock boxes and they need shift them. It made us laugh in the office.

Coil all the way. My first 5 Spot came with a DHX Air shock and it felt totally dead, really not impressed at all. Had it serviced and checked over and it was still just as bad. I then bought a DHX coil with a ti spring and it was fantastic!
When I bought my second Spot many years later it came with a Pushed RP3 and as good as it was it still didn’t feel as plush or as controlled as the coil shock. Forget the weight penalty, it’s how it rides and you will enjoy it far far more.

Darren Clarke really really deserved the win for how he’s played over the 4 days. He’s also been through a hell of a lot the last few years and his emotions came out in the famous Ryder Cup win a few years back. I couldn’t have picked a more throughly deserved person who could have won and I’m so pleased he did it. Brilliant.

Try Interparcel as well. Although they use the same couriers as Parcel2go.com sometimes you get a cheaper quote. I use either of these and they’ve never let me down. Even when sending heavy expensive hi-fi to Hong Kong etc.

Shocking! It should have read “My new S Works Enduro” – you’ve got to grab attention!
Secondly how old is it – the picture states 2009 – has it taken you that long learn how to post pictures?

Hehe only pulling your leg – nice bike 🙂

I’d report it. It’s not about being lazy, it’s about being honest with their condition and they may look a lot different now or maybe just a small amount but he could be hoping the new buyer will not notice or just accept them when he’s got them.

49 years old but think I’m 4.9 years old. But alas I have hair growing where I don’t want it and no hair where I’d like it. Still, my wig I’m making of pubic hairs is nearly finished although the permed look isn’t in any more!

For my local trails my 1×10 (34t 11-36) is ideal and for the trail centres I go to I’m sure it’ll be fine. I much prefer to get out the saddle and climb andyway and it’s just my fitness that needs to be sorted to help there. The year I had off for an injury has really been hard to get beck from and I seriously need to get my head down and get it sorted!

OG, not trying feel bad about it but from what he told me and what I’ve read it’s not good. The cancer had pierced his bowel and was actaully causing an infection which if left would have killed him. They caught that but from here on the survival rate of living more than 5 years after diagnosis is about 7% which is shocking. I’m trying think positive and I hope I’m totally wrong.

Good to see your feeling better. My mate has told me he has bowel cancer and he kept feeling the need go the loo. He got worse and worse and in the end the pain became unbearable. He had some tests and got rushed into hospital and had an emergency op. He’s got further treament coming soon and I really hope he pulls through. I’ve read up about it and from the facts he’s told me the stage he’s at it isn’t good though. I do hope I’m wrong 🙁

RJ pmsl – that’s almost true! I must admit MOST owners are of the “weird” variety and it seems you have to have numerous tattoo’s and lots of body piercings. I have non and I’m a 49 year old who just likes snakes – and spiders!!!!!!!

Depends what for really but for racing and xc stuff they are very very good. They’re very well made and finished off and I liked mine. The tubes on mine were er “soft” as they are thin which saves weight. Classic geometry really but I had more fun on my Pace RC303 being totally honest as the steerings more relaxed so was easier ride downhill – at least for me. If your thinking of getting one look for something second-hand as they can be had for about £400. I bought my complete ARC for £450 a few years back 🙂

I knew my colour blindness would be my downfall one day!!!! He he. That’s the colour of youngsters until they change to this

The change takes place over a few days as well so I’m hoping get some nice pictures when it happens. Cool about the Boa’s, they’re a bit more snappy than GTP’s and with longer teeth so hope you don’t get tagged as from what I’ve read and been told it’s quite painful.

I believe loads of people use them and are more than happy with them. I know one lad who uses one on his hardtail and he thinks it’s brilliant.

I ran a DHX coil shock with a ti spring on my first HL 5 Spot and I loved how that rode. I thought I’d try this with the RP23 first but I’ll keep my eyes peeled for a nice s/h coil one too.

I’m sorry but no idea where to get Rocol from. We used it at my old place and I put some in a small pot for “home use” lol. It’s known as copper slip so try looking for that but there are other anti-seize greases available ok. It comes in huge tubs which you’ll never ever use up and I’ve only got a small amount left or else I’d have sent some over in a film pot. If you get some be careful as it stains terrible. Try Amazon – type in copper grease – there’s plenty on that site

It’s an anti-seize grease that withstands heat but basically it’s to stop anything binding. I use it on all my chainring bolts and pedal threads for instance and they come undone very easily but not when they shouldn’t. If your bolts are seized now I’d say that’s your problem. Soak them with WD40 and then take them off. Give them a damn good clean and then apply the grease. I’m sure that will sort your creak out.

I’d also remove the chainring bolts, clean them up and put a dab of something like Rocol on them to stop them drying out and seizing up. Chainring bolts are a common cause of creaks and are often over-looked.

What conditions everything in, what gearing are you running and is it the big S or SRAM?

Love the look of the new XTR cranks – wouldn’t mind getting some arms for my new build. I’ve got some CK hubs coming this week too so that will finish my build off. Can’t see the first 3 images though 🙁

I think the confusion is coming from using 9 speed Shimano mechs on 8 speed stuff. The spacing is exactly the same between the cassette rings so that’s why that works. On a 9 speed hub you have to use a spacer as the cassettes are obviously different widths but on a 9 and 10 speed the cassettes and the same width so it’s obvious the spacing between the caassette rings is different. So when you shift a 9 speed SRAM shfter it will mover the cbale slightly more. The best solution is simple – don’t mix them!

    24.28lbs excluding pedals

My 575 came in at under 25lb and that was with pedals!!!! Only jesting – not about the weight of my bike as that’s accurate. Hope you enjoy the new bike and if anything I prefer the look of a built up 5 compared to the 575 as it looks sort of “sleek” although I never got chance try one so can’t compare them on that front.

Yeah, just watched a clip called “Simply Seve” on Youtube and the lump was in the throat. I love loads of sports but I cannot think of a more passionate sportsman at all. One who wore his heart on his sleeve but was there for anyone and who adored his fans as they adored him. Very very sad and I’m sure it’ll be hard to watch – just like the tribute they did to another legend a few months back – Henry Cooper.

Didn’t like Red Bull telling Webber maintain the gap – should have let them race especially as Vettel is so far ahead in the Championship. Hope Hamilton doesn’t get a penalty for the last few corners action either.

Hammo won’t keep 3rd as he’s in fuel saving mode. Looks like Alonso 1st, Vettel 2nd and Webber 3rd.
