Hi Rob, give the shop a call now (the shop part is open and ask for Marc) or Monday and they will tell you. I’ve not done mine as they’re fine but I know other people do theirs as we send loads of kits out. You need the FK6650 seals for your forks. If you get through today tell Marc that Porky said ring lol.

Yes you can do it yourself and BETD Goldtec sell Enduro seal kits as well.

You should have told her that the t-shirt was far too big for her and you were doing her a favour as she’s much slimmer and that shirt made her look big – that would have boosted her self-esteem and you’d have had non of this. She may have been extra special later that night in the bedroom 😉

It’s not neater and it’s asking to get snagged – hence the WTF comments. Seriously – you need to sort it out.

I like the look of the new SB66 especially after seeing it in the flesh but thats the first time I’ve seen it “naked” and I must admit it sort of worries me. I’ve no doubt it works but like a lot of suspension systems, when you actually live with them months on end you soon learn sometimes things aren’t always as they should be.

    5 Spot at Llandegla?

Oh – you didn’t mean that sort of spot hehe

Wiggle were knocking out 2010 Turner 5 Spots out for just over a grand – CRC were £1,600 for the same thing.

With hindsight you should have remembered the registration plate and THEN reported it immediately! I’d hazard a guess they had no right to threaten you like that and even if it was an air-soft gun or whatever – report it. Sorry but I think you did it wrong and you should have been stronger. I had a driver deliberately try knock me off my bike – I didn’t go home and post on a forum asking for advice – I remembered his number, called the Police and he’s been charged – end of. I’m smiling he isn’t.

Gary_C, the SRAM rep said to run a 185mm rotor we need just a 185mm Post Mount okay. Hope that helps.

It certainly was. I think Jorge did very very well to finish second and also to go off at such a pace. But that crash on Saturdays warm-up took it’s toll and being honest, it could have been worse than just severe bruising. Enjoyed it as usual.

Can’t wait. I’m going for Jorge 1st, Danni 2nd and Casey 3rd. Spies could be the dark horse as it’s his home round but I think if he doesn’t get away first it’ll be hard pass on that track. Hope it’s a good one and no crashes.

Bottom line, at that price, there isn’t an alternative.

Also correct me if I’m wrong but have you heard of any failures? They are just simply the best out there – at any price – and if you want loose a bit of weight then get a Masterpiece if you have the money. I’ve had Easton EC90 and 70’s and I still think the Elites are the best.

It’s the same as in what’s better in XTR and XT – they work very nearly the same but ones lighter than the other plus the newer features come out in the top group-set first. XX is lighter – plus it’ll make your wallet a lot lighter too! X0 compared to the older X0 stuff is much better as in there’s a definite performance over it’s cheaper X9. In the past X0 was a bit over-priced for what it was and X9 made better sense. I’m running XX brakes and they’re superb as are the X0 mech and shifter I’m using.

I love the 1×10 – rode it today and never once did I think “damn could do with another gear” and it was really good. I wanted a nice tidy gear set-up so that’s why I went 1×10 but I did mull over a 2×10 for a while. So i stuck my neck out on this and glad I did.
I’m still playing with the settings in the shock but tomorrow I’ll got try set it up as per the Turner website tech spec but my forks need a service in all honesty as they’re not running as smooth as they should.

Impressive weight for a 5spot, but you’ve always built light bikes

Cheers but not done on my builds intentionally – apart from my Yeti 575. I was lucky with this build getting some nice bits cheap. I just spec stuff that works and is reliable as in things like Thomson stuff. I lost nearly a pound and a half with a change of rims!

A rear skewer as the Hope one I have now is utter shitte – so I’m getting a Shimano one.

Once I owned a HL Turner 5 Spot, Intense 5.5 and Merlin Oreas – all at the same time. The Turner and Intense are both the same travel bikes but ride very different. I sold them both and bought an 08 Yeti 575 hoping it would have the best bits of both those bikes – sadly it didn’t and some time later I got another HL 5 Spot. I did ride them all, even the FS bikes each week but it sort of did my head in seeing so much money sitting there not being used while I was out on the other bike. I then got an injury which sorted the problem out for me.
Ride them both, they will bpth have good and bad points on the trails you ride so use the one that suits the trails you ride on that day.

It’s a Hope one and if remember right it’s a 203mm but turned round – as in the arrow is point to the back. I’m going get the SRAM rep sort me one out so I’ll let you know what I get sorted with.

The rear disc is a 185mm, same as the front. I’ve got to get a proper mount for it as that’s a temporary one.

First proper ride out on the new DW Link Turner and I loved it. The DW tracked all the bumps and roots and felt very plush and now all I’ve got do is sort the front forks out so they do the same.
The other big big thumbs up was for the drive-train as I’m now running a 1×10 with a 34t 11-36 combo and I never once needed another gear even when climbing, albeit nor insanely steep climbs but still slippery all the same. Very very pleased with it and glad I bought it 😀

This thread is crap. Either people posting ugly ‘niche’ bikes or their own bikes (none of which I’d class as ‘porn’).

Did you clean and grease the chainring bolts? They dry out and bind on the rings and once cleaned and then greased up hey presto no noise.

So just how do or did CRC get their stock of Yeti’s? Has a distributor of Yeti bikes sold it’s stock to CRC? Seems strange to me especially with some old stuff in there like the ASX’s that Yeti said it has no spares of for some parts.

I’ve ran a DHX 5.0 Air, a DHX coil with ti spring and also a Pushed RP3 on the 2 5 Spots I owned and for sheer performance the best by far was the DHX coil and ti spring – it was plush! Very very plush! I loved the way it swallowed hits, big or small and the ride with Vanilla forks was outstanding. Yes it was a little porky at 30lb build but I didn’t care as it rode that well.
I sold that bike (regretably) and a while ago I got my hands on another and it had a Pushed RP3 which was very very good but not as good in my eyes as the coil. The DHX Air my first Spot came with was crap – the deadest feeling shock I’ve ever ridden. I honestly couldn’t get on with it even after Mojo did a service on it. So that’s my opinion anyway 🙂

I must admit, I didn’t like the look of the ones with the white stripes round them as they looked garish to me. I run the older all black ones and I think they’re very good giving good grip in sticky stuff but still roll fast when it’s dry. I think I’ll need some new ones soon so hope there’s a choice.

We got one sent to work like that the other day but it did at least have lots of bubble wrap on it. It does make you wonder why they don’t go to a bike shop and ask for a frame box.

I had the 08 Yeti 575 and I’d agree that you really do sit “on” it rather than in. I’ve also had 2 HL 5 Spots and the best was the one with the DHX coil shock, very very plush and a nice ride. But – I’ve now got a DW Link 5 Spot and although only had the briefest of rides I can say for definite it pedals better than the HL models and it’s also really plush. However I’ll update how I get on with it later butI can say hand on heart, the DW model does seem a better bike.
