Guys, sometimes as a seller you also get knobs asking stupid questions or making pathetic offers for goods. I had a brand new set of Talas 36 RLC FIT forks on there going for £700 – not a bad price for something costing nearly a grand new. I had one punter offer £300 so I sent a sarky reply which he didn’t like but why insult the seller in the first place? Thing is he actually came into our shop and said naff all when he was trying be high and mighty behind his keyboard – says it all really.

There is quite a difference in how stiff they are and also ring quality. I believe that the M970’s are by far the best you can buy and I’ve never scuffed my arms on the 3 sets I’ve had or any other cranks I’ve owned. Compared to the M960’s the 970’s are in another world – the rings last far far longer, they’re not made from cheese and super super stiff. I’d also recommend RaceFace Deus XC as they too are stiff – not quite 970 though. The rings are also very very good but the RF BB’s are atrocious compared to Shimano stuff.

When working away on business and abroad my mate would eat nothing but Macdee’s crap – he looked for the big red and yellow logo and said “It’s the universal sign of good food” to which we said “yeah right”

or a bit on the side

I thought that’s what dating sites were meant for????? I used to meet mine when I went for a walk at night time when they were alone – but I’m taking medication for that now,

i love the way it rides

There’s your answer. Yes by getting a lighter set of wheels or forks it might climb a bit easier but if your happy why bother? I had 2 old HL 5 Spots and the one that had a coil shock and coil forks and came in at just over 30lb was a far better ride than the one that had air shocks and was about 27lb.

I wonder how many millions watched it and enjoyed it though? I bet it’s a far percentage and most will have no interest in “cars” as such and they will have enjoyed it purely as an entertainment programme. For the BBC that’s a success I’m afraid.

I remember the tragic weekend like it was yesterday – Rubens crash, Rolands tragic death and of course Senna’s. I just sat there starring at the tv just waiting to hear good news but alas no. The film is brilliant and also shows an insight into the politics of F1 we just didn’t and don’t see too.

Cheers Pete, that will be great and best of luck and I hope they did “do the business”
Here’s the GTP in it’s latest colour phase. I can’t wait for the full on “proper” Green colour to come out but it’s getting there. I’m just in the process of completing it’s new full-on planted viv with misting system too. It’ll be the centre piece in my living room when it’s completed lol

They have one horn which if you look at the bottom picture you can just make it out in the middle of it’s body. I could have said Ceratogyrus darlingi which is what we know it best as 🙂

We I’d say yes as my kids have been great (15 year old daughter and 17 year old son) as I split up with my fiance a week ago so my heads been in the shed to be honest. My friends and family have all done their best keep my chin up and it’s been really nice but Christmas morning with the kids meant an awful lot to me this year 🙁

I switch every year as I found I got better deals. I was with Admiral but now with LV as they were loads cheaper than Admiral. As said above, use a Price Comparison site and you’ll be amazed at the differences. Then when you get the quote, call them and try to haggle.

City Link are the worst couriers ever and after the debacle I had with them last year I make sure I never order anything from anyone who uses them near Christmas time. I complained and complained and not once did they even bother reply. Their system really doesn’t cope with the seasonal rush and they send vans out all the time without parcels in them that are due out that day.

I don’t have big wrists but I wear a TAG F1 as my everyday watch and it’s a 44mm case and it looks fine honestly. Yeah it’s a quartz watch but it doesn’t break the bank and keeps very very good time which is exactly what it’s meant to do. I have quite a few TAG’s including auto’s like Monaco and Carrera’s and really do like the brand.

Pmsl – no, there’s no name at the moment as “it’s” not been sexed yet. The reason being until they are at least a year old their skeleton is quite fragile and you sex snakes using a probe which with GTP’s can actually do them a lot of harm. My GTP is just over a year old now but they aren’t the best at being handled and so I’m going make sure my local vet can sex it and then I’ll risk my hands and take it down to get “probed”
The names put forward so far were “Herb” for a male (as in a green herb) or “Fiona” for a female (as in the green monster in Shrek) but any suggestions would be most welcome too.

Thanks. The pits along it’s head are amazing and give it a really menacing look but they do an amazing job of locating it’s prey and they can strike accurately in total darkness.

FWIW I owned a 575, the 08 swoopy frame one and I much prefer the ASR5. It’s sleeker, lower and looks really nice.

They will be built from scratch Stu specifically for “fatbikes” I will post some pictures as soon as they’re machined. Got a fair bit of work on at the moment but it’s a project that’s in the pipeline and will be completed as soon as possible.

Really cool pictures of the snowy trails. With a bit of luck I should be making some nice new 135mm and 170mm hubs for Christmas which will be available to buy next year. Watch this space 🙂

I ran a coil DHX 5 on my HL 5 Spot with Vans up front and it was fantastic, even though it came in at 30lb all up. The ride was so plush and super smooth and I must admit was probably the best feeling of all the bikes I’ve owned. My DW Link is running air shocks at the moment but I’ve toy’ed with the idea of getting a CCDB for it with a ti spring one day. I’ll keep my eyes peeled for one going cheap lol.

I second what couldas says. It’s amazingly expensive to send a bike to the Republic and if there’s anyway you could have it delivered to a destination in the North then take that option.

Hubs have spacers at their ends which align the hub in the drop-outs so that the correct disc spacing can be achieved. In theory hubs can have these spacers made so they can allow for larger axles but this isn’t always the case due to how the bearings are housed in the hub and how the spacers are retained in the hub after. Hope Pro2’s can use different spacers as can Goldtec and Chris King hubs plus I’m sure some others that members know about. It sounds easy enough but it’s not always the case.

Nice bike dude and love the XTR cranks. I wanted some for my new build but I got some of the M970 arms new for a bargain price. The ASR5C was on my shortlist but couldn’t find any good deals on one. same thing when they brought out the SB66.

I had an E46 330i M Sport Coupe and could recommend one whole heartedly. Loads of room, very well equipped and plenty of performance too. Funnily enough I’m sort of mulling a new motor now in that price range and might go down the WRX route as I’ve always fancied one.

I wouldn’t say yes or no. What frame are you running it on – a HT or FS? If it’s an FS how much travel does it have? For a HT, the cost of something like a Superstars device for peace and mind makes it a no-brainer and I might be right in saying it will even work on a FS frame with up to 4″ of travel, so again it’s a good peace of mind choice.
I use a Lopes on my DW Link 5 Spot with an un-ramped Goldtec ring and it works perfectly on a 1×10 set-up. It could be a case of suck and see, run without one and if you start having problems go out and buy one.

You won’t loose a great deal of weight really – left hand shifter, front mech and 2 chainrings as opposed to gaining a chain device. I did it because I can ride my local trails easily using a 1×10 set-up and there’s less maintenance and less cables on the bikes so it actually looks neater. Here’s my Lopes on my DW Link 5 Spot
