I could handle only a few of them as most of them are very nasty and will give you serious problems if they bit you. The Togo Starburst up above is one of them and the effects can last for months after, like cramp in your muscles etc. The spiders gain nothing from being handled and it’s dangerous for them as if they fall only a small amount they can go splat and split open. My Mexican Red Knee below is one which can be handled, she does sometimes flick her legs but she’s quite docile but I look at as like keeping marine fish – they’re lovely to look after so why handle them

deluded – I have a most of the ‘pokies’ that are in the hobby and there are some rare ones in amongst them, one which I hope to get a picture of soon as I only got it last week. There are some other very rare ones but they very rarely come up for sale and cost a fortune too. The metallica above is highly sought after dues to it’s colours but their numbers are increasing so they’re getting cheaper.

Here is a picture of the Salmon Pink to show how large she is

They are all different in character too. Some are like rocks and just stand there, never bothering to move even when you mess in their homes. Some show threats as soon as you go anywhere near them – the Skeleton ones certainly do lol. They have very slow metabolism’s and that’s why they need very little food. In fact if you feed them sparingly it’s been found they live longer instead of those that have been give loads of food.

A lad I went to school with murdered someone. He was a normal lad, very skilled cyclist too but he just lost it one day and killed his girlfriend. We both went to the same Grammar school and he did well academically too. Certainly no thug or such by any stretch of the imagination.
A friend of mine also was involved in an incident that a lad died but he was cleared in court in any wrong doing in the matter.

Ah the Digital v Analogue debate, isn’t it great. Well I run a Michell Orbe with SME V and a Koetsu Black cart for those in the know so I think you can guess which I prefer. I also now have Naim CDX2 which is a stunning CD player but just doesn’t satisfy me like the Orbe.
The convenience thing is there I guess but it’s a small price to pay for a superior sound and with Digital and MP3 stuff you just skip tracks too quick instead of giving the albums a proper listening too. As for scratches on vinyl get a decent amp and the sound spikes are reduced to virtually nothing, they aren’t made worse by better amps – that’s just a load of crap.

Fantastic result and really really well played Cardiff, a credit to the Football League. Liverpool weren’t at the races today but you can only play as your allowed and Cardiff did well. Those penalties were shocking though – I don’t think Adams has landed yet! Silverware back at Anfield at last 🙂

Greg, matey your question is so so vague please just think about it. There are endless parts of the UK from full on downhill stuff to flat tow paths and also woody trails. To ask which FS or HT is best is just a pointless question and that’s why you’ve had responses like above.
If you’d asked which was best for the type of trails you ride then you would have had much better replies and some good advice too. In all honesty there is no “best” as there isn’t one bike that can do it all no matter what the magazines or press try make you buy. It’s whatever floats your boat and which one rides best for you and the one you can afford too. The Yeti ASR5 is a nice bike but technology wise its being left behind now but it does ride well and Yeti’s have that “following” I’ve owned the 575 and ARC and they’re great bikes but there are others which are better – and others which are worse. Go test ride some and enjoy.

The other week while riding home I saw a Short Eared Owl hunting when it was dusk. An amazing sight to see and a rare one as well.

I thought this my Merlin Oreas was going be my ‘bike for life’ but being honest there is no such thing and I was unlucky to suffer an injury that meant selling it as I didn’t know if I’d recover. Absolutely stunning bike and one of the best builds I’ve ever done with loads and loads of bling on it. Still miss it loads 😥

Saw Bob Marley at Bingley Hall Stafford a long long long time ago – brilliant concert. I remember having a splitting headache before I listened to any music – I wonder why???????

I have 2 bikes running 1×10. My DW Link 5 Spot runs an MRP Lopes and my On One runs the Superstar one above. The MRP is nice and quiet but the side plate cracked and broke which is apparently a common fault. They also aren’t cheap. The Superstars is cheap but is a little “draggy” and a tad louder but for the money who cares.
I also run 32t front and 11-36 cassettes on both.

my lbs has told me not to buy xtr brakes from rose bikes as they are oem and would be inferior to those bought in the uk is this true

What utter utter utter crap!!!! They will be exactly the same, the only difference is how they’re packed back at where they’re made. Some will get put into those nice boxes and some that will be fitted onto bikes won’t as it’s waste of packaging. Simple as that. Your LBS doesn’t want you buy from Rose and understandable as they want your business. It is a pain when customers buy their kit off-line and then when anything goes wrong or something isn’t quite right, they expect you as their LBS to “assist” you putting it right. It’s about loyalty to your LBS really. We all understand that in these times when spending is tight and people, even me buy off line but bear a thought when things go wrong that’s all.

Not sure if it wasn’t a set-up problem but my first impression of the XTR mech with the clutch wasn’t too good – very clunky in use and loud – so unlike XTR that I’ve used in the past. Much much prefer my X0 stuff which seems a lot lot quicker too.

I’ve still got my DW Link 5 Spot and I’m only trying this out – perks of the job that’s all. It’ll be good compare it to the 5 Spot though as they’re both DW designs. I’ve tried the Ibis Mojo SL and prefer my 5 Spot any day.

Really need to know which ZTR rim in all honesty as there’s quite a range now. XT hubs are solid working hubs but aren’t the lightest out there. Are you running tubeless at all? A while ago my mate and I both had Yeti 575’s and with basically the same build except for the wheels, I ran Goldtec’s on Stans 355’s and he ran Hopes on 717’s and the weight difference between the 2 bikes was quite a lot. He did a lot of head scratching hehe

Having ridden long term an SL I bought a Turner 5 Spot DW Link and if you find the Yeti ASR5 too long then the Turner will be ideal for you. It’s bang up to date, suspension technology wise and is built from good old alloy which when it suffers from a few scrapes can be re-painted unlike carbon frames. They are both (SL & 5 Spot) very very good frames and work very well indeed.

As a Liverpool fan I can say hand on heart what has happened is not good for the club but it needs an understanding from everyone. Firstly Suarez was wrong in what he said. Liverpool as a club should have made him understand what can and can’t be said and he should have been introduced to John Barnes and had racism explained to him properly and if he was a genuine guy, maybe just maybe his attitude would have changed. I also believe the FA should have ensured he went through an educating program to let him see the error of his ways.
I personally believe that Liverpool don’t want to rock the boat with him, in case he up sticks and leaves which is very very wrong and not the way it should be. Liverpool as a club SHOULD have told him he was wrong and all this crap that’s now going on maybe wouldn’t be here and football could carry on and just get on with it. As normal, we don’t have all the facts, we don’t know whats going on behind the scenes but I hope Kenny is not being left out on a limb with this defence of Suarez when surely someone higher in the club should actually say something on the matter instead of sitting on the fence.
I hope it all goes away very quickly for the sake of football and decency for everyone.

I ran both my old HL 5 Spot with Van 32’s and Float 32’s and my current DW Link runs the new 2011 Float 140mm’s and it feels great. I know they recommend the 150mm’s for DW Links but the axle-to-crown length is the same and I’ve not found the head angle steep at all.

Regarding your forks it really depends on how old they are. If they’re old Talas forks then £270 is a lot of money to pump into them as when you come to sell you will have to write that repair bill off but buying some new now will also mean that. If the forks are cosmetically mint it’s a good option get them repaired but I’d be tempted personally get some new forks that come with a warranty. I do like my Floats as I found they “feel” like a coil fork but without the weight penalty. I’m selling some brand new top-of-the-range Revs in the classifieds that might be up your street though. They do have a warranty too.

Fergies interview wasn’t fair! He said all the right things before the game but total memory loss about Kung Foo Cantona and the crap he put on the club. Did he say how disgraceful that was? As a manager he should have kept quiet and talked about the football and what happened on the pitch – he should have been more diplomatic.

I don’t remember Fergie ever saying anything about Cantona when he drop-kicked the Crystal Palace fan and bringing the club’s reputation into question. He should keep his mouth shut and remember people in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones. As a Liverpool supporter I don’t condone what Suarez did today or before and it’s not good for Liverpool at all. He should have shaken hands and just got on with it. I wasn’t impressed with Ferdinand not shaking his hand either but he will get backed by “supporting” Evra – er wasn’t that what the Liverpool players and club did with Suarez?
I believe they should have dropped the handshakes today, just as they did with QPR v Chelsea. The whole incident marred the game and Liverpool looked all at sea and just not there.

It was a stock colour I believe as I bought the frame second-hand for £50. It’s totally original as can be seen by the On One decals.

Pmsl that’s ace. Well after todays long walk she collapsed on the sofa and started to dream. It was so funny watching her growl as she slept. So a quick picture and this is what happened – I’m sure she’s saying “I’m not really asleep you know”

The Giants only just about won their division against my “Boys” but they’ve played some brilliant defence and I believe if they can get to Brady and stiffle the Pat’s offence, the Giants will do it. It’s going to be a good one I hope and I can’t wait as a neutral.

Doesn’t matter whether they nick him or not, at least it shows him that you did report him. They will probably listen, hear his bullshit side and do nothing as there’s no witnesses. I had a case similar to this but had a witness and he was done – also for no documentation on his vehicle so you never know. Best of luck.

Sell the SID’s and get some 150mm forks. I actually run 140mm Floats on mine and it’s fine. If you ever found it a bit steep there’s plenty you can do to slacken it. The crown to axle lengths on the 140mm to 150mm is the same so it doesn’t really matter that much. As for being light, here’s my Spot and it’s under 26lb without any stupid lightweight crap on it. I could knock more off it but it’s perfectly good enough as it is. The 5 Spot is a cracking bike and a really good buy at the moment

    Yes it’s a direct mount on my 2010 5 Spot if running a 160mm rotor and a post-to-post mount for the 180mm I’m running.

When is the penny going drop that TG isn’t about “consumer advice on cars” and that it’s about “entertainment” that’s actually enjoyed by people of all ages and is also a very very profitable programme for the Beeb! There are endless endless other channels on tv, or plenty of other things to do while it’s on. Go polish your helmet or something….

How’s it doing? I sold it get my Spesh S Works Enduro, flogged that for an old Turner 5 Spot and now I’ve got anew DW Link 5 Spot but I’ve bought a dirt cheap SS frame and kitted it out with some nice bits and it’ll be ready by the end of the week – won’t it BETD boys!!!!!!! I’ll pop a picture up as soon as it’s done. They are stonking bikes though and hope your enjoying it.

Cranks – lot stiffer than others and the rings aren’t that bad for durability. As for those who moan about replacing them well remember this, you wouldn’t put shit parts on a Ferrari when it needs them so if you can’t afford replace them buy something else!

I’m running the XTR Trail pedals and really have been impressed with them even if ones like 520’s etc work well.

Common sense and dignity – that’s all it takes!

One of the funniest things happened once with my son who was just a toddler at the time and he needed a wee. We were at Chester Zoo and walked into the toilets and he had always used the little urinals before but in this one there was a stainless steel trough! He looked at and his eyes widened and stared at it, then turned to me and said “dad, is this where you come for a p@ss” Neither me nor my wife ever swore in front of the kids so it must have been a school thing but to hear him say it was a shock but so so funny I had to hide my laughter. Boy did me and his mum p@ss ourselves laughing later
