A friend of mine had an NS Surge in a lovely blue colour – sort of similar to a Yeti colour but a bit deeper blue. Really was a nice colour and if I change my Turner I think I’ll try it.

If you do get 150mm forks and still feel it needs to be a bit slacker up front you can always fit an off-set shock bush. I’m going try one in my 2010 DW Link as I run 140mm forks on that. It climbs really well and descends well but I make the bushes anyway so it’s just a little trial run for me 🙂

There’s a place called “Lookat” that’s showing them in stock and also there’s some in the States on Amazon. I need some for mine 🙂

2011 Turner 5 Spot frame from Merlin and then spec it with your choice of parts. I reckon it’ll come out under £3k and you’ll have a stunning bike.

johnny – send a picture of the mech to info@betd.co.uk and we will tell you what it is and the number of the hanger you need. Aren’t saying you’ve missed anything but the staff in the office are pretty good at finding them out and if you draw a blank we still may be able help.

I’ve tried a few HT2’s and I’ve honestly found the XTR’s to be the best yet. RaceFace are by far and away the worst, they last barely minutes. The XTR ones I ran worked perfectly and were still smooth when I sold them too. I ran a quite expensive Enduro one that was spinning really well until it just failed on me which was very strange so I’ve now got a nice spangly Chris King one to try. And the XTR ones can be bought very cheap off fleabay too 🙂

Remember, everyone from the maker to supplier has to have their cut to make a living – that’s life isn’t it. There are bargains to be had if you look round. My 2010 5 Spot was just over a grand new but now they’re up to over £1,500 for the same year!
Second hand year old frames make good sense as you can get them at roughly half price. If they’ve been well looked after then I’d go down that route which I have many times before.

Check your headset and see if that’s nice and tight. If it’s loose the forks will be moving in the head tube and this will cause vibration when braking.

I really don’t like the Iodines – either for looks or function. I have known riders get taken down when branches go in between the spoke gap as it’s quite large whereas the normal wheels with 28/32 spokes just deflect those branches away. Not made up rubbish either, this really has happened and yes I know it happens to normal wheels as well but these do appear more prone to it happening.

Goldtec Pro Comps are nice lightweight hubs and don’t cost the earth. The 15mm AM can be converted to 9mm QR as well but there’s also the new Draco that can be changed from 20mm to 15mm or normal QR as well.

The power of the internet and idiots just not understanding law. I seriously hope they get sent down for what’s happened and from the way things have been going over peoples comments on the net they certainly will. Absolutely absurd and beyond belief.

I was just going to say I bought some stunning Nikon Monarch 8×42 DCF NEU’s but they’re over your budget. These are totally waterproof and are very very sharp too and I’ve been very impressed with them. They’ve been very highly rated on lots of forums for quality, build and optics. Maybe worth stretching your budget and getting some.

Audio Affair stock some great stuff but you can get decent ones from HMV and Amazon as well. Some rarer stuff can be found doing Google searches and there’s stuff on eBay as well.

Hi deluded. I try spec Thomson kit on my bikes as they are excellent quality parts and I’ve seen the collars and they are good. Can’t wait get the frame and build it all up – itchy finger time now lol.

There are plenty of decent vinyl shops online and loads selling LP’s on 180gr vinyl which are much better quality than the usual stuff produced these days.

I’ve ridden long-term the Ibis and I own a Turner – so there’s my pick. I went for the Turner as I know if I crashed on the Ibis and dinged a tube, when I came to sell it the potential damage inside which you can’t see would put buyers off whereas damage on a Turner is there for everyone to see and the after-sales service for Turners is second to non. As is the warranty issue. Both bikes ride nearly the same, the Ibis is very quiet for a carbon frame and both bikes climb well and descend well. I am biased as I’m a Turner fan but having seen so many Ibis SL’s and HD’s at work I’m sort of bored of them now and they don’t look that special anymore. They are nice frames but I just like the Turner and it’s lovely tubes and paintwork.

I’m not a heavy rider but I go for Thomsons every time as I trust them, simple as that. They’re very well made, light and strong so just the job.

I have a set of custom Jawbones with various lenses but honestly and truthfully the best glasses that perform the best are my Oakley Racing Jackets! They are the older type but it’s simple change lenses on them and they really are superb. They never mist up when riding due to the vents in the frames which is a massive plus point when night riding. And even when they mist slightly when you stop for a breather, they then clear immediately as soon as you start up. I see there’s a newer type available now so might have to check them out. The older ones aren’t exactly good for every day wear but for the purpose they were designed for they’re ace.

I’ve looked at their website and just not sure about it. But the built up bike does look okay but I guess it’s how it rides really and the reports on that seem very good indeed. My Summer Season is bright orange anyway and that doesn’t bother me – too much lol.

Ibis do a guard that fits on their down tubes. The latest SL’s and HD’s have a finish that some tape doesn’t stick to very well and so it makes protecting them very difficult indeed.

Definitely depends on your frame. The Superstar frame mounted ones are okay on FS bikes up to 4 inch travel I believe but for anything after that there’s lots to choose from but get costly. I use a Lopes on my Turner and it works perfectly running a 1×10 set-up

Lol I’ve been calling my mates Dixon a Nixon – no wonder no one wanted buy it! Here’s a link to my mates Dixon bike [/url] and it is well under 29lbs – more like 26 maybe even less and it’s a medium.

Why don’t you buy a Burgtec off-set shock bush as an interim fix? They’re cheap enough, made from titanium and when you get your new forks you could experiment with head angles then as well as you may like the bike a bit slacker. Worth a punt.

Lancia Delta Integrale Evo 3 – still one of the best cars on the road even today. Proper head turner too.

I had to do what Stoner did with a stuck carbon post. A little patience and it gets the job done and saves your frame. Will work on alloy posts too but will take a little longer that’s all.

I think you’ve answered your own question, it’s definitely a problem due to installation when it was fitted. When the mechanic said it was hard to fit I would imagine it’s been tight going in so it’s therefore squeezed in and so tight on the cranks sort of crushing the bearings. If the frame is worth it I’d get it taken to a decent bike shop who can sort the BB threads out properly and then you should be fine. If the frames well past it get a new one and see if you can get a warranty replacement for your old XTR BB and fit that to your new frame.

Fingers crossed he pulls through and reports saying he’s stable are good. I was watching it live on ESPN and I think if they cut the feed they’d have been lambasted for it so it was a no win situation really. They did pull the cameras away from close-ups as to what was going on so they did that right. I’m sure they’d also want the viewers to know he was okay – if that was possible so staying with it for me was the right thing to do. All in all I hope he does recover and lets keep our fingers crossed.

Which make is it? Hub manufacturers make their own adaptors, for instance Hope, Goldtec and Chris King. Some hubs that are made for 15mm can’t be converted although if you’ve access to a lathe it’s possible make some adaptors but it’s not easy. Maybe the adaptors from Hope or Goldtec could fit or be made to fit but it’s trial and error and the cost of buying the adaptors may be more than just getting a new or replacement hub in the first place.

Hope aren’t bling and never will be. They’re decent hubs but there are better out there. CK’s are much better finished and are reliable too and cost keeps them “bling” Being honest there isn’t a great deal between any of them and each has it’s good and bad points or failures. I’ve ran DT 240’s and Tunes as well and if you define “bling” as being a bit more niche then go for the Tunes as they aren’t very common at all and are also nice and light to boot.

Both my brother-in-laws had Norton’s. One had a 750 Commando Interstate that had a custom paint job on it and it looked amazing and the other was a Mk3 850 that got stolen and was found trashed in Ireland. A mate had a 500 Mach 3 500 Kwacker too which was mental to ride. Handled like a total pig but looked stunning.
There’s a haulage firm near where I live and the owners son has an RC30, mighty fine bike too.
One of my biker mates has an RC45 which he got dirt cheap as Honda were selling the last lot off as at the time everyone wanted the Ducati 916. Still rides the thing but only when it’s very dry lol.

Yes I know they are quite good at swimming and hunting under water – so putting some water in the bath when re-housing isn’t a safe option anymore lol. I will definitely keep you updated on her progress as well, just hoping it’s not a phantom sac that’s all.
I’m going to the BTS show in May so I’ll look for some juvenile P smithi’s and P subfusca ‘Lowlands’ going cheap lol. I’ll look for any rarities too 🙂

I only have this one showing the set-ups I do for the arboreal spiders I keep. I’m sort of in the planning stage of how to set up rows of enclosures as I need sort out things like heating for them and controlling temps plus making sure I can work on them safely and easily. I have to be careful of escapee’s as I have a dog and any tarantula is lethal to dogs or cats, even the tiny little baby spiders

Pete, she looks exactly like yours and she’s still turning her egg sac round still – a proper little mother lol.
